Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 143 reviews, most reviewers were somewhat happy with their experience overall. Many members deeply appreciate the welcoming atmosphere, consistently helpful team members, and spacious, well-equipped gym floors. Consumers frequently praise the fantastic swimming pools, highly engaging fitness classes, and generally clean facilities that make routine visits enjoyable. Some reviewers were not happy with rapidly rising membership costs, strict contracts, and difficult cancellation processes. People also noted frustrating issues with broken amenities, such as frequently out-of-order pools, saunas, and poorly maintained changing rooms. A few customers consistently mentioned poor communication, delayed responses, and deeply unhelpful customer service when trying to resolve concerns.

Totally disgusting behaviour

Totally disgusting behaviour. I bought a membership, I had to buy for my carer also. I then suffered heart failure. They took 3 months payment for us both. We have never even set foot in the gym or hotel. I am not able to use it at all. Now they have set a bike debt collection agency ARC to hound me and my carer. He never signed up. They are using intimidation and bullying. They want a full year for us both. Despite medical evidence!!!!!
It will not be long before this company is responsible for serious harm to someone!
If you are in any way DISABLED, Sick. AVOID LIKE PLAGUE. THEY ARE BULLIES AND THUGS.

The Bristol Village Gym is great…

The Bristol Village Gym is generally really good value with excellent facilities - I’m really sad to see some of the complaints on here.

I can’t speak for other locations but the Bristol one has great facilities and classes (special shout out to Dylan’s epic Burn HIIT and Laura’s beautiful Body Balance), with a lovely 20m pool and spa area including sauna, steam room, sauna, jacuzzi and ice bath.

It is generally pretty clean (could improve at busy times) and I’ve never yet met a rude or unhelpful team member there - they are all really lovely. The changing rooms are spacious and comfortable and the gym floor itself is very well equipped. The PTs are fantastic too.

If you do have to take a break (for example for health reasons), or want to switch to off peak, they are very understanding, though obviously have terms around this so it’s up to the member to communicate this in advance.

My only quibble is members repeatedly hogging the jacuzzi and never being asked to vacate.

I’ve been a member at the Village Hotel…

I’ve been a member at the Village Hotel Gym in Walsall for a while now, and I have to say that John is one of the standout members of staff there. From the moment you walk in, he’s always welcoming, friendly, and genuinely happy to help. Whether it’s offering advice on equipment, helping with technique, or just creating a positive atmosphere, John consistently goes above and beyond.
What really sets him apart is how attentive and knowledgeable he is. He takes the time to understand what you’re working toward and gives practical, achievable guidance without ever being pushy. His encouragement makes a huge difference, especially on days when motivation is low.
The gym itself is great, but staff like John are what make the experience exceptional. His professionalism, energy, and willingness to support members truly elevate the place. Highly recommend speaking to him if you need help or just want a friendly face around the gym

Agreed to something they couldn't fulfil and took my money whilst in crisis

Took my money when I was in crisis and now in debt

I moved in with my parents temporarily as they needed care. As they don't live anywhere near my home I couldn't use my regular gym. I told the customer services people behind the desk of my situation and said that I wanted to join for 3 months only. They agreed this with me strictly 3 months cancelled on joining so that I didn't incur a cancellation fee. They have been harrassing me for money telling me that I owe them money that I should have given them a 90 day notice period to cancel. None of this was explained, I have no paperwork to evidence it and have been hounded by them whilst living with a stressful situation.

I have tried to call them and e-mal them but no one answers the phone.

Absolute disgrace

Absolute disgrace. Tried to cancel membership due to losing my job and trying to reduce my outgoings but they insist on 3 months payment. Pity I didn't try to charge them for when the pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi were out of action numerous times. Plus the showers not working so frequently. Disgraceful organisation with no empathy. All they are interested in is money.

Continues to be disappointing

Staff are amazing, Jordon, Will, Thomasz, Jenny, Beth, Keri all deserve a mention.
Last Sunday morning there were no lights in the showers and toilets in the women's changing room, half of the plug sockets do not work, the hair dryers are poor so much so I have purchased my own to use and the changing room is cold.
The new studio that has just opened has no insulation under the floor, the 'heating' is controlled by reception, its drafty and totally unsuitable for a yoga class. The plunge pool that was a 'new' addition back in the summer is out of order more times than it is working.
Cannot wait for the price increase in January!!

Best gym in Bracknell!

Great facilities and lots of classes. Good sized pool. Love the aqua classes. All the instructors are good. Staff are always really helpful. Coffee afternoons and social events are good too.

Worst gym ever village solihull

Worst gym ever village solihull. If you want your car stolen, personal information breached. Ignored by management, lied to. This is the gym for you. Poor hygiene standards. Cerri worst operations manager to deal with any complaint lies and does not follow procedure and compromise your safety as a female. Loads of fights in gym due to high staff turnover and hiring kids that have no clue. There cameras do not work. Paul benton is absolutely useless, again ignores complaints unless you go to Blackstone Group direct. Paul is then is forced to respond, but still continues to lie. All complaints should go directly to BLACKSTONE GROUP as they have bought them out. Only then you will recieve a response. It is ridiculous trying to get any form of reply from Village Gym Solihull. Keep your peace and stay well clear. Highly recommend David loyd, bit pricey but the service is quality.

have never experienced such appalling…

have never experienced such appalling and discriminatory behaviour from a place that claims to be welcoming and community-focused. The staff at this gym have shown a shocking lack of respect and professionalism — their attitude made me feel targeted and unwelcome because of who I am.

What’s worse is how dismissive they were when I tried to address it. Instead of listening, they doubled down and acted as though I was the problem. That’s not just bad service — that’s bias and prejudice on display.

No one should pay for a membership only to be treated differently or unfairly. This gym needs serious accountability, staff training, and a change in culture. Until then, I’d strongly advise anyone who values respect and equality to stay far away from this place.

Great classes but atrocious communication and customer service during renovations

I really enjoy the classes, which is entirely due to the great instructors, but the communication and organisation of the actual gym is just atrocious!

- Firstly they have a rule that you have to cancel a class 4 HOURS beforehand otherwise you face a penalty (3 penalties and you are banned from booking classes for a period of time). I understand the need for this rule but 4 hours is unfair and excessive.

- Secondly they are currently doing up one of the studios which means that the classes have halved in capacity. Very little has been done to provide extra spaces or classes for those of us who cannot get into our usual classes and communication about this has been non-existent.

- Thirdly, the communication generally is appalling. They don't respond to complaints and don't seem to care too much what their members think. I realise that sometimes it is a head office decision and not down to branch staff but everything could still be communicated and handled better.
