After considering eye surgery for a number of years, I finally took the plunge and went for a consultation with Mr Deepak Chitkara. I chose Viewpoint Vision after months of researching and reading reviews.
The consultation was very thorough and Deepak explained in detail what type of a procedure I could have and what to expect during and post surgery
I had Refractive Lens Exchange in both eyes. The surgery itself was painless, the team during the procedure were lovely, I felt completely at ease and Deepak explained what he was doing during all of the procedure.
My vision after the surgery was a little blurred but the morning after my sight was amazing and each day since has got better everyday; I am 13 days post surgery.
My first check up with Deepak was great, I now have 20/20 vision and being
free of glasses is absolutely life changing!
As someone who needed glasses for everything, I can’t tell you the feeling of freedom! No more steaming up, constantly cleaning, falling down…
I’d say, if you’re thinking of having eye surgery, don’t delay! It’s absolutely amazing and I would highly recommend Deepak and his team at Viewpoint Vision.
From my first contact with Anne to my final check up, I couldn’t be more impressed with Mr. Deepak Chitkara.
I had worn contact lenses for 55 years and glasses for 10 years before that and I only wish I’d had lens replacement surgery years before. My eyes were thoroughly examined, and Mr. Chitkara explained everything fully. There was no pressure to go a head. He is a very caring and experienced surgeon. I would recommend anyone thinking of lens replacement to go a head at View Point Vision. One of the best things I have ever done.

I just want to say I had Len’s replacement in both eyes by deepak and I can’t thank him enough,i am only 4 weeks after my operation and my vision is fantastic for reading, mid and long distance,I was nervous at first but did my research and chose deepak at viewpoint
From start to finish he was very caring and answered all my questions
If your just thinking about it book a consultation and you won’t be disappointed
I had lens replacement with Viewpoint Vision for both eyes during May of this year. My initial consult was excellent. All of the recommendations were clearly explained and I felt comfortable and reassured that I was in safe hands.
I was very well taken care of on the day of the procedure and I was able to relax and not worry.
The aftercare has been wonderful with several comprehensive check ups.
I always needed glasses to read and found taking them on and off so frustrating. I can now read the smallest of writing and no glasses are needed. I am back to 20/20 vision and I am thrilled.
I would not hesitate to recommend Viewpoint Vision to anyone.

Very unprofessional and rude. They never respond to emails or voicemail, then have the cheek to send threatening letters because they haven't bothered to check or listen to voicemail. The actual procedure was good but the "aftercare" leaves a lot to be desired. I do not feel like I have been treated well at all considering I paid £8,000 which is a lot of money to me. I'm still awaiting a response to an email I sent which I know will never come. My eyes have only been checked once as a result of this which I feel is totally unsatisfactory given the high level of surgery I had. It seems to me that once they have your money, they're not interested afterwards. Please do your research and go somewhere else where you feel valued not just as a customer, but as a human being.

My eyesight had been deteriorating due to age over the last few years, I had been contemplating the surgery but was too nervous. On a whim I decided to book an appointment with Dr Chitkara. He said I was able to have the procedure and put me at ease. Two weeks later I had it done, within an hour both eyes were fixed by the next day I could see without glasses and within a few days I was completely back to normal. I would recommend this to anyone if you’re thinking about it. Thank you Dr Chitkara you were great and I truly appreciate your talent and what you’ve done for me. Tracy Brown
Having decided on lens replacement surgery I contacted Viewpoint Vision. They were very professional from the outset and was reassured as they are based in an NHS hospital with all the facilities on sire if needed.
Mr. Chitkara was excellent in explaining what I needed, what the procedure would entail and what I could expect. The actual operation did not hurt at all - a little uncomfortable but you have got 'things' in your eyes but you are 'all numbed up'! The first night was just uncomfortable but after that - no problems. My sight was 20/20 very quickly (the focus comes and goes in the first couple of days) and both near and far sight is excellent (prior to the op I wore multifocal lenses).
The aftercare was superb with 24/7 contact available if required. After 2 months I am still seeing 'halos' around lights but these are diminishing and reduce very quickly.
It is a lot of money to invest in this procedure but, if you are thinking about it, I would definitely recommend Viewpoint Vision. The initial consultation, operation and after care have all been excellent and it has changed my life! I have been away and just worn normal sunglasses like everyone else; no wet glasses when walking in the rain and much easier to apply make up :).
Thank you to Mr. Chitkara and the team at Viewpoint vision.

Surgeon, Mr. Chitkara is a consummate professional. Totally, and thoroughly trustworthy, instills, inspires confidence.
My double replacement cataract op went faultlessly. Gold star treatment. He's skillful and throughout the op kept me reassured.
10 days later and healing is progressing well. From diffident cataract dominated person, to confident post-op looking forward to the future with the best possible result.
Don’t waste your time if you book via their groupon promotion. We booked via groupon for eye surgery where they wouldn’t honour the voucher because the cost was cheaper than their rates direct. So why are you selling your services on their website? All a big con to lure you in at discounted rate to then charge more. Completely unprofessional behaviour. We have now wasted time and money going to the initial appointment to then be told they won’t perform surgery unless we pay more money. Avoid at all costs.

I had my surgery early January 2021, the next morning I woke up to a fantastic clear view free of glasses and contacts. I only wish I had done this years ago.
Dr Chitkare is very caring and put me at total ease, he took his time to explain the procedure, there is no pressure to proceed with the surgery. Both pre and post surgery care is excellent. The theatre staff were also very good, making me feel totally at ease. The procedure itself is quick and pain free, with some discomfort for a few hours after surgery. I've been wearing glasses since I was a child and contacts most of my adult life, I now have great vision at both near and far. I would definitely recommend the surgery!
I am now 7 weeks post surgery.
Having Refractive Lens exchange surgery is something I had been thinking about for the past 3 years. When I looked into various other high street options I felt they were only interested in the money and was a lot of pressure to get you to come in for an appointment with an expensive consultation fee.
I should have been wearing glasses since I was at primary School but never liked them and always felt they affected my confidence and felt a different person when wearing them. The past few years I had to stop wearing my contact lenses due to dry eyes and then again had to rely on wearing glasses which I would then only wear when really had to work, driving etc.
My first consultation with Mr Chitkara was an extremely thorough process and I immediately felt at ease. Mr Chitkara is a very caring person who takes pride in his work and does his best for you to gain the best outcome with your vision. Before my surgery I had quite severe dry eyes and Mr Chitkara gave me some different drops than the ones I had been using to try which are very effective.
I did not feel any pressure to go ahead with the surgery and it was also explained to me that I could cancel at anytime should I change my mind. Mr Chitkara explained all the things which could happen including starbursts and halos and how your brain should adapt. I have found already at 7 weeks post op I do not even notice the starbursts around car headlights this was the same as when I wore contact lenses. I am so grateful for my vision and have now noticed I do not get as many headaches through not wearing my glasses as I should have done.
Having surgery to your eyes is a very scary thought and even up to the point of surgery I was very scared despite the excellent staff on the Sanderson Suite who tried their best to put me at ease. Mr Chitkara came to see me before the surgery which again makes you feel more reassured. The staff on the ward came to administer eye drops on a regular basis and to check you are ok and try to put you at ease.
When I went to theatre the staff were excellent ensuring they put you at ease and giving you plenty of reassurance. The procedure itself took about 15 minutes per eye and again all the time Mr Chitkara would ensure you are ok and not in any pain. After the surgery an eye shield was applied until I got back to the ward which needs to be worn every night for one week to avoid you rubbing your eyes.
Immediately I could see better and I have found your vision continues to improve 7 weeks after. When I was discharged home I just followed the instructions given to me by Mr Chitkara and took it easy for a few days avoiding using laptop, phone. Post op phone calls from Mr Chitkara were a big help to just run by any questions you have to ask him. I was seen back in clinic 6 days post operation again thorough check up and was told my vision is now better than 20/20.
I have found all pre and post op treatment excellent and if you have any questions Mr Chitkara always gets back to you.
Having this surgery at the age of 48 I feel was an excellent investment I never realised just how much I could not see including some things I wish I could not see dust and wrinkles. It is so good to be able to see signs, my phone, and so many other things without having to put my glasses on.
I am a nurse myself and I feel extremely grateful for having received such excellent care from Mr Chitkara, all the staff on the Sanderson Suite and theatre staff. This was such a big and scary decision and I am pleased that I made the right decision to use Viewpoint vision for my eye surgery. Mr Chitkara was recommended to me and I would highly recommend to anybody who is thinking of surgery to improve your eyesight. Thank you Mr Chitkara
I can honestly say the service from my first 'clueless' phone call right to my last post-op check up 12mths later - i received such a supportive, knowledgeable and friendly service which i can not recommend or compliment highly enough. Thank you!
The thought of having an operation on your eye is scary! Something i had thought about for about 8 years!
I had visited a high street place a few times previously, and each time i felt all they cared about was the money. They gave me no information, offered minimal post-op support and all they said in the consultation was which laser treatment i was more suitable for (no explanation as to why, even when asked) and automatically asked how i was going to pay and what date did i want to be booked in to. i felt pushed and not reassured!
Dr Chitkara actually cares about your well-being: wanted to make sure i knew how MY eye worked, provided me fully with the different laser options; weakness and benefits of all, and how my eyes would heal depending on which option i chose . . . he wanted to make sure i knew the whole process from start to finish and offered continuous check ups up to 12 months after the operation: the length of time it takes for your eye to truly heal from laser treatment! He told me to go away and think i about things .... a genuine interest in his patient and the service he provided .. and extremely well informed. My trust was gained!
The operation was over within half an hour but was surreal as you are awake and can see it all - one eye at a time. It didn't hurt and i felt calm!. The woman i saw before i went in gave me some great advice: if you want to blink, just blink! The only other thing i remember (and i found interesting) was that it smelt like burning hair - this didn't last long.
Post operation: just went home and slept ... lots of drops, (my boyfriend was a legend) spend a weekend chilling - don't put pressure on your eyes (basically, the TV strained my eyes, and i decided not to go out all weekend) .. However, without the eye pads - you can already see clearly! ... i wanted to help my eyes heal as comfortably and quickly as possible! (Listening to comedians on TV helped to pass the time away!)
I was advised not to play sport (netball) and not to get water in your eyes for 2wks but after that . . life as normal: but better!.
Swimming and getting water in my eyes felt weird for up to 6 months after but its absolutely fine now. Also your eyes itch as they get dry more easily, but again, after 6mths, this also goes, unless im tired and left my make up on. (my fault!)
Having the treatment has completely increased my confidence; i don't hide behind glasses, or not look at people in case i don't recognise their blurry face ... and my netball has improved as i can see peoples reactions clearly on court! i'm able to buy heaps of sunglasses and hats and i'm no longer constantly trying to find my glasses i'm the random places i left them!
My eyes are even better than the standard 20/20 vision expectations ... i can now see 20/16 - Dr Chitkara ...THANK YOU!!
Most honest and professional consultation i had after being to a number a well known high street names, great service both before and after surgery and flexible appointment times, would have no reservations in recommending - very happy customer !
I have worn reading glasses for years so I decided I would go for laser surgery. Read several negative reviews on high street stores and it appeared it was a case of do the procedure and that's it, no aftercare as such and not always good results. But then I came across Viewpoint. The reviews were good so I made an appointment.
Although I initially thought I would be having laser surgery, Dr Chitkara recommended I had a Raindrop Implant. Although the thought of someone cutting my eye and inserting a lense, albeit tiny, terrified me I thought I would take the plunge and go for it!
I can honestly say it was totally painless. Drops are administered in the eye and you cannot feel a thing. The procedure took about ten minutes and postop Dr Chitkara suggested I take paracetamol if there was any discomfort - there wasn't.
I have been for a check up every four weeks and everything is fine. I can now read without glasses unless it is very small, faint print. It can take six months to see the full benefit.
I would definitely recommend Dr Chitkara and the Raindrop Implant, just wish I had had it done years ago!
I wore contact lenses for 35 years before my eyes became too dry. I wore varifocal glasses for 4 years but really missed my lenses, then I took the plunge and had bifocal IOLs. I dithered for 2 months and asked lots of questions, Mr Chitkara was very patient and explained everything thoroughly. I had complete confidence in Mr Chitkara and hardly felt a thing during the procedure. My eyes felt better with 2 days and I now have great vision at all distances. Initially I found halos and glare quite noticeable but now, 8 months on, these effects are minimal. Really glad I decided to go ahead.
I am 83 years old and my wife had been badgering me for some time to have my eyes tested only to find I had cataracts on both eyes. She wanted the procedure done quickly and was not happy with the local options. She found Mr Chitkara on the internet and liked what she read.
An appointment was arranged within a week and the options explained very carefully and patiently by Mr Chitkara to both of us.
He performed the operation on both eyes very soon after our consultation, in a very pleasant and re-assuring manner without fuss and all went to plan. The result being I can see again now without glasses for long distance and only need cheap ones for reading, which was what I asked for. I find driving is so much better as well, particularly at night time.
We have been back twice now to be checked out again and I have been given the all clear and signed off today.
The whole experience at the Hospital in St.Helens was completely stress free, the hospital itself is very nice, the staff were all so friendly and un- flustered, we could not believe it.
It goes without saying Mr Chitkara was very kind, patient and has done an excellent job and left us feeling much happier than before and we would not hesitate to recommend him and all the staff that assist him. We thank him very much indeed and know we could not have had a better surgeon. (My wife is exceptionally happy as well, which as us men know all too well, the most important thing!)
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr Chitkara for all support and invaluable service I have been offered while undergoing my laser eyes surgery. I was really nervous but still excited to get this done - and Mr Chitkara was extremely supportive during the whole process. At first stage, he explained all the options available particularly for me and advised also what cannot be done. I have actually felt like my case was dealt by the PROFESSIONAL who aim to achieve what is desired and not only to 'gain' another client.
Although the surgery was a bit stressful for me, Mr Chitkara was with me all the time during the whole surgery, so it was really helpful to know that my eyes are in his capable hands. :)
I shall not forget to mention that everything went exactly as explained by Mr Chitkara. The whole surgery and the process of the recovery - I knew exactly what is going to happen next as I have been told all of this by my surgeon! Amazing and yes, indeed a great work for a peaceful mind.
My words will never express how much I am grateful and I could not thank enough to Mr Chitkara for his assistance, for being there for me all this time and for making my dream come true! THANK YOU! Adam O.
I had custom Lasek eye surgery done by Deepak in August 2015, the whole process from start to finish was great. Lasek is more painful and recovery a lot longer but due to my contact sports, it was best I had this procedure. Deepak gave me all the options and knowledge of every procedure and I am so happy i now have the results he said I would have. After a heavy 3 or 4 days after the surgery, my vision is perfect. I can see so clear and I have no side effects such as dry eyes or soreness, or even sensitivity to light. I am made up and I know using Deepak was the best option in the UK. The price was the best in the country and for what you get there is no reason to look elsewhere. Highly recommended. Thanks :)
I discovered I had a cataract on my left eye in 2010. I’d had Implantable Contact Lenses in 2006 and had enjoyed 4 glorious years of no glasses and near perfect vision. I’d of course made the most of it, travel, running and lots of outdoor pursuits to name but a few of the things I got involved with. Prior to 2006 I’d put up with thick spectacles and contacts, I was virtually blind without them.
Discovering a blurred spot on my eye was a shock and the word cataract even worse, I wasn’t even 40 yet!
The specialist told me to leave the cataract as it could take years to change and if they operated I’d be left with a difficulty focussing on things near to me. For the first couple of years I didn’t notice it too much unless I closed one eye.
In 2014 I moved back to the UK from Melbourne and knew I had to find a surgeon/specialist for my eyes as the cataract was now more noticeable. For over 12 months, setting up a new home etc became a priority and so I “put up” with my ever deteriorating left eye. I was terrified I would lose my sight and just buried my head in the sand. I tentatively started looking for a specialist after spending a few days travelling alone in Helsinki, by then the sight in my left eye was nothing more than a white haze. I felt all of a sudden very vulnerable, I was falling more also when I was out running.
I rang a few of the clinics that advertise on the TV, most had call centres that take the call and then promise a call back by a specialist. After explaining to one that I had ICL’s and a cataract they seemed to fill them with fear and I heard nothing back. Thankfully a successful internet search led me to Viewpoint, and Deepak. I did my research and read about his career, he was the first surgeon in the UK to put in ICL’s, BINGO! I thought.
What can I say about the service at Viewpoint, well for a start I spoke direct to the clinic, I had an appointment within 5 working days and was in surgery within 10 days of making that first call. The service was amazing. The hospital and setting immediately puts you at ease, Deepak is a fantastic surgeon and makes the whole process easy. He told me I had in fact the start of a cataract starting in my right eye also. He operated on both eyes in August, I was scared, both eyes, what would it be like etc. He removed the ICL’s from both eyes, removed the cataracts and put in 2 multifocal lenses. I worry by nature and I am not ashamed to admit as I sat waiting for my surgery I felt very apprehensive. The lady also in that day reassured me that she knew two people recently who had had the surgery by Deepak, I felt immediately reassured.
Lying on the table in theatre and then seeing the world again after a few minutes was very, very humbling. It was painless and quick, full aftercare followed and I simply cannot fault the service at Viewpoint.
Deepak check my eyes week later and discovered I was better than 20/20 in both eyes and my near range was fantastic. He told me that’s what his goal was when he examined me, to give me the best sight possible.
Deepak’s expertise hasn’t just given me my sight back, he’s given me my life back. Seeing the world again through BOTH eyes has changed my perspective. I’m still running and enjoying the world, but more so now.
I simply cannot thank Deepak and his team enough and would recommend Viewpoint to anyone, including my own mum.
Thanks Deepak
