After Utmost took over the company holding my investment, the service took a serious turn for the worse. There were a couple of mistakes in transferring monies into the wrong currencies early on and more difficulty in getting in contact to get information. In the end, however, they did make good on the losses incurred by their mistakes.
Getting information about surrender penalty charges and the ongoing charges after penalties was difficult. This is partly my fault for not understanding that they were going to continue charging me for "managing" parts of the policy that had been surrendered in full - I should have looked at the small print! However, the information that they sent via my financial advisor had fee lines that had different descriptions from the lines in my statements making it difficult to follow!
My main take-away is to check the small print, and in this case, it would have been better to open separate investment instruments rather than topping up a single one, as that would have allowed me to have closed each down and stop incurring fees

I am not at all happy that I now have to use an Authenticator app to access my bond. I cannot find how to use this and your website merely asks to click the app below when there isn’t one!
Your staff are extremely helpful but I am disappointed that I now have to either phone or email each month to get a current valuation .
