Avoid like a Plague - Frustrating Experience with Toyota/Redline Finance – Poor Communication and Transparency

I gave my car back and agreed with Toyota/Redline Finance. I recently received a letter from Toyota/Redline Finance regarding arrears on my account. While I acknowledge the existence of arrears, I challenge the amount they have stated.

I've tried to resolve the matter, including sending multiple emails, but none were responded to. I also sent two letters via recorded delivery, both signed by the company, yet I have not received any acknowledgement or reply. This lack of communication is incredibly frustrating.

I have requested a breakdown of how the outstanding amount was calculated, but I still have not received any details. I am also unsure about the vehicle's final sale price at auction, as agreed, and have not been provided this information. Key details about my account are being withheld.

Additionally, I was sent an Income and Expenditure form to arrange a payment plan, which I filled out and returned. Despite this, I have heard nothing back from them regarding my request for a payment arrangement.

In their recent letter, there was mention of an agreement that I do not know of. I have attempted to contact them several times but have been left on hold for over an hour (atrocious), only to be left without assistance.
The gold standard for Incompetence. Whatever you do, avoid these quacks.

Horrible

Horrible, horrible horrible. Although I have not been exactly on time for my car note, I always make sure and pay before the 30 day mark before it is reported late to the credit bureau. I have no problem playing the late fees, but Toyota financial has decided to report it late, even though I pay for long before the 30 day mark, they now are telling me that there’s nothing they can do about it that I have to write them a written letter, stating that I think they wrongfully reporting my account they told me to reach out to the credit bureaus. I am a credit repair specialist. The credit bureaus cannot do anything. It is on the lender to fix it and correct it being that Toyota million dollar business and this is the way that they have treat their customers mind you I have called them about this several times and each time they give me a different response and tell me a supervisor is gonna call me back and they never do.

This is a less than zero stars…

This is a less than zero stars situation.
Toyota Financial Services (UK) are unresponsive, muddled and in complete disarray. It’s more or less impossible to get through on the telephone and their opening hours are not useful if you have a job - ringing in your lunch break isn’t enough time to get through.
Email is even worse. Response times very long or not at all.
TFS have managed to put the new finance agreement for a car I used to own annd part exchanged onto my app.
They have also altered the direct debit and taken payments for a car I don’t own anymore. I’ve cancelled the direct debit and I am paying the correct agreement via debit card while they ‘investigate’
Meanwhile, the current owner of my previous car is defaulting (through no fault of their own)
They send half replies, replies that don’t answer the questions asked and despite multiple queries about why I have someone else’s finance agreement on my app- they won’t reply to this- or remove the agreement.
I finally gave up with ‘customer support’ after two weeks and emailed complaints. 4 days later I received a cut and paste response informing me that they would investigate and I would hear back ‘within 8 weeks’
They then took a direct debit payment for an agreement that isn’t mine.
I emailed customer experience detailing the horrible experience I had had so far. Guess what. It’s 4 days later and I’ve not even had an acknowledgement.
Toyota cars are excellent. Toyota Financial Services is not. I’ve been a loyal Toyota owner and I change my car very frequently. I think my next step will be to get my supplying dealer involved but I shouldn’t need to be using up all this time and energy trying to sort out their admin error 🤷‍♀️

Toyota Financial Services Mafia

I attempted to pay off my car loan with Toyota Financial Services (TFS) on August 13, 2024, by sending in a check. However, at the beginning of September, I received a notification that I was behind on a loan payment. Concerned, I contacted Toyota Financial to inquire about the situation. During my call, a representative from TFS informed me that they had not received my check and that I needed to make a payment to avoid late fees.

Initially, Toyota had informed me that they received the check, had processed my loan to a zero balance, and had released the lien on the title. However, about 30-40 days later (around September 23), after the check had been sent, they reestablished the loan and indicated that the payoff was not processed as originally agreed. Following this, I cancelled the check.

M&T Bank has documented evidence showing that the payment was made. It appears that there was internal miscommunication at Toyota Financial, as one department reported receiving the payment while another did not. I have made multiple attempts to reach out to Toyota's customer service through my loan account, but their response was dismissive, only stating that I was behind on my payments. They provided no further assistance or clarification.

After this incident, I received the free and clear title to the car about two weeks later, but despite this, I continued to face issues when trying to resolve the situation. I called Toyota multiple times, trying to pay off the loan for the original amount I had sent in August, minus the most recent payments. However, Toyota informed me that the payoff amount had increased and they would need to seek approval to potentially forgive the additional interest. This response was unacceptable to me, as there was no guarantee they would do so, and I felt Toyota was mishandling the situation. Their actions were damaging my credit, and I lost confidence in Toyota Financial Services' ability to resolve the issue fairly and competently.

On December 13, I attempted to reach out again, but once again, I was met with unreasonable responses. TFS insisted that I allow the check to go through their process, which could take several months. I believe this is an unfair and unreasonable delay—especially given that any legitimate car loan service should be able to process a payoff within 30 days. It feels like I am being extorted for the additional interest by Toyota Financial Services, which is unacceptable.

I have continued to make payments in September, October, November, and December, but I am still accruing interest, which is frustrating and unjust considering the error was on Toyota's part. Therefore, I am requesting that Toyota allow me to pay off the loan for the amount I initially attempted to pay in August and waive any interest that has accrued since then due to their mistake.

If Toyota Financial Services continues to make things difficult, I will consider taking further action to regain ownership of the car without additional payments. I am questioning their legal claim to the loan or the vehicle, especially since they released the title to me. At this point, their behavior is more reminiscent of a coercive organization, not a legitimate financial service. They are preventing me from paying off my loan, damaging my credit, and jeopardizing my job due to my security clearance.

I am seeking assistance from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) to help resolve this matter and to investigate how many other individuals Toyota Financial Services may be mistreating with either their incompetence or what feels like extortion.

I have been charged on direct debit and no one seems to know why my agreement is not closed yet. I called the dealer lexus they are saying it is with toyota finance and finance is saying it is with the dealer. Very poor customer service and deffo worth reporting to FOC

Credit rating trashed by their error and they won't help

TFS neglected to use the new bank account information I submitted on their website on August 9, 2024, for recurring payments, which I’ve made without a “miss” since I acquired the car from Toyota in 2018. Nor did the website indicate that a new recurring instruction was necessary when I changed the bank account. Toyota failed to make the debits from the new bank account, and then declared me delinquent!

I only learned of the problem when I saw that my FICO score dropped by 117 points on October 11th, 2024, via Experian.

The amount in arrears was paid the day I was made aware via the credit report downgrade (i.e. October 11, 2024) and the recurring order is in place. I have screenshots supporting all of the foregoing.

I requested that TFS amend my status with the credit reporting agencies – Experian, Equifax and Transunion – to not delinquent - and do what TFS can towards restoring my prior credit standing. I did this directly with TFS, and then through the auto dealer when I saw they wouldn't budge. They were helpful and escalated with their contact at TFS. However, TFS still refuses to acknowledge their error, as reflected in the form letter I received dated November 18 2024. It matches exactly the one they sent me after I contacted them directly, dated they (that's how I see it), and I'm still stuck with a large hit to my credit rating.

I would give -10 if this was…

I would give -10 if this was possible... Run away from them . The biggest mistake you could do is to get in any kind of contact with them . So we bought a car in April 2024 on finance with them . Car comes up faulty in less than 30 days , we returned to dealer multiple times before contacting Toyota and file a formal complaint with them . No response from Toyota that complaint was received. So we called them . Apparently emails send to yahoo mail bounced back . Ok could happen. So I change the email to Gmail. Or atleast I taught so . 3 days later I found out that email hasn't been changed ( so another 1 hour on phone ) ,after 4 long phone calls , million times been transferred from one person to another . FINALLY I get conformation that my complaint was actually received. So far so good , but unfortunately this is just the beginning. So i suppose to get response from Toyota financial 4-8 weeks after I placed the complaint. Fine , 4 weeks pass so I called them to see if there is any update on the case . So after 45 min on phone transfered between 4 different operators I ve been promised that person who is dealing with my case will contact either me or my wife on next day . Happy days ... but a week no word from them , so i called them again , same empty promise again .Now 2 weeks later I decided to again waist some of my time and call them again . Apparently I will someday get a call from them . Meanwhile I'm paying for scrap car parked in my driveway that I neither can use or return . And also I have been assured today from the person on the phone that their investigation is that car faulty or not will be done without even car to be seen by independent service . So I'm assuming person dealing with my claim have crystal ball that will tell him/her is car faulty or not . I can't hide my disappointment from this company. It's just a joke .

Why does it take an hour to get through??? We made a payment online as TFS had the incorrect banking details and then after speaking to someone they said that everything is in order but they still tried to debit from the wrong account. It’s ridiculous to hold on for an hour and not getting through but they want your money. Worst service I’ve ever experienced.

Don’t fall in to Toyota financial scam calling it “WEB ISSUES” taking Triple payments in one day…Toyota took 2 different payments same day a regular, and twice as much IN ONE DAY, had to borrow money so wouldn’t charge for Non-sufficient.
Then 3days later see another double payment scheduled to be process!

I called Toyota agent said sorry “it’s was Toyota’s technical issue” and then transfer me to Resolution center! Agent at resolution said “sorry can’t do anything contact you bank”
Ask for contact info of superior he said can’t give you any!!

Negligent Service

Once the car is paid off they are meant to send a lien release to the DMV. This never happened. The car has been paid off for 5 years and after 4 phone calls, I still can't get them to send the lien release. As a result, we can not register our car in the new state we moved to. Awful service. I will be reporting this to the Attorney General's office of MA.

Plain and simple...a complete joke

Plain and simple...a complete joke! Seek financing somewhere else. They never deposited my payoff checks in a timely manner so we stopped payment and then they decided to try to cash them over a month later. Back to square one. Just avoid. They've already had the second set of checks three and a half weeks and still waiting for them to post.

Horrible company

Horrible company. I have sent a huge principle payment a month ago to them and they acknowledge they received the check but said they are real busy and it could tak another month to just deposit the check. I have called numerous times for a supervisor and never does one get on the phone with me. I have reported them to the consumer financial protection bureau. This company sucks. Never will help. They hang up on me after I ask to speak with a supervisor. I would highly recommend run from this company. They have told me 11 times they will call me back same day after a manager is available and never do they. This is so illegal to hold checks
And not deposit.
Worst company ever dealt with!!

I am extremely disappointed with the…

I am extremely disappointed with the service I received from Toyota Financial Services. I sold my car to Carfax on July 30th, and they promptly sent the check for the remaining balance to Toyota. However, Toyota Financial did not process the payment until three months later. This unreasonable delay resulted in Toyota falsely reporting missed payments and sending my account to collections.

Despite the fact that the payment was sent on time, my credit score took a significant hit due to Toyota’s incompetence. Trying to resolve the situation has been a nightmare, with unhelpful customer service and no accountability for their mistakes.

I expected better from Toyota, but this experience has completely shattered my trust in their financial services. Be cautious if you're considering financing through them—this could happen to you too.
