Build a Roblox game course really sparked our sons interest
We signed our 11 year old son to a "make your own Roblox game" course during half term just to give him something to do.
He loves playing Roblox but hasn't really delved into it any deeper than that.
The course was conducted over Zoom and ran for 2 hours a day over 5 days.
There was a pre course check up to make sure he had everything he needed (pc, webcam, Roblox) so it meant there were no last minute hitches when the course started.
After each session, they have a small piece of homework to carry out if they want to add some enhancements to what they have developed so far. These homework tasks were simple enough to do but a good way of reinforcing the lessons but made him think beyond just being taught.
Techcamp say they never have more than 8 people on the course, but on this one there was only six so he got a lot of attention and by the end of the 5 days, had developed a platform game and a racing game
I wasn't sure how difficult he would find it as he has no coding experience at all, but the tutor provided enough help to get through and I was genuinely surprised how good the games looked and played.
Now he's so excited about his new knowledge and has added loads more bits to the games and is thinking about building a new game.
This course cost £199 which I was a bit worried about whether it would be good value but having seen what he made and how it sparked his interest, I'm really glad we did it.
If you can afford it, I definitely recommend them.
