The replacement for SKYPE
The replacement for SKYPE, Teams is terrible! My family has done a SKYPE video call every Sunday for many years. This has allowed my Mom, siblings, cousins a way to see each other and talk for a while each week. My 92 year old Mom loved it. Since Teams took over there are many negative changes. TEAMS SUCKS! Sorry but that is the truth. That is the worse possible App I have ever seen! Get rid of it ASAP!

After using Skype for over 10 years got swapped to this piece of 💩 absolute nonsense, can't call most of the time, don't see missed calls, when I do connect to a call it's choppy as anything!! Not impressed whatsoever, and will be finding another platform to use, that actually works!!
Useless
Useless - does not display my video in my own screen or other party's screen (Zoom does fine). Unintuitive interface. Using web version picked up video but not completely; fuzzy bad feed despite 77MB/S.
Absolutely Awful
Just Awful. Microsoft killed Skype to force me to this pile of .... so they killed Skype on my phone (but not on my desktop coz I haven't updated - so it's pure force killing, Skype still would work totally fine if they weren't so greedy and pure evil as to try to force users away from it for no good reason), and now I see messages posted from Teams on my phone just disappear regularly (e.g. don't appear in Teams on my desktop, whereas Skype on my desktop still works fine).
MS closed Skype and took my prepaid credit ...
MS closed down Skype on May 5. I had considerable credit on Skype for making calls when my O2 phone disconnected. Now I've lost that credit. Multiply that by millions of ex-Skype users and thats a massive criminal fraud by MS.
Absolute nonsense from Microsoft
Absolute nonsense from Microsoft to swap Skype to Teams. It doesn’t work properly and needs attached accounts like ‘one drive’ to enable user sending video messages. I find it hard to get through security with a google account let alone trying to recover my supposedly existing one drive account?! So instead I used WhatsApp to send same video message, it’s a breeze using that app.. Teams is just shocking on usability.

I’m disgusted Skype was sacrifice for this disgusting worthless festering fecal matter of a service. If this is all Microsoft can do now, then they can’t bleed out quick enough!
I have been teaching English as a…
I have been teaching English as a foreign language for many years using Skype which I loved. It had a few problems, every now and then, but nothing there compares with the fact that Microsoft Teams is not at all user-friendly. Why, for example, are my students not in alphabetical order anymore? Why, when I am looking through my file during a lesson, do I have to bring the page down in order to still see the student in the little box? Please bring back Skype!
What have you done...?
What have you done...?
My job has become unbearable. This is complete garbage.
I'm at a loss for words. I honestly feel like packing up my things, quitting, and never coming back to work.
Work has become awful since moving away from Skype.
This is an absolute nightmare.
Terrible software
Terrible software, how a billion dollar mega corporation can develop such a garbage product.
I can't even change call sound in free version of this software. Microsoft are you out of your mind, killing skype in favor of this garbage! Really?
What a total disaster
I teach foreign students online. Skype was wonderful. The transition to Teams is a disaster. My students, under 12 have to get their parents help them to get into Teams every class. I've not had one successful class so far. The chat often doesn't work. Twice it said my camera wasn't functioning, and I couldn't fix it. It's an absolute mess. I cannot believe this is a professional platform...
crap
Absolute shit tbh 🙏 give me skype back (that sucked too but not as much) there are sooo many problems like photos/messages not sending, i think notifications are broken or something and yeah just ew i hate it
Why build something worse than the…
Why build something worse than the thing you killed?
And just when you think it couldn’t get worse — it turns out that in 2025, Microsoft is now charging for group calls longer than 60 minutes.
Seriously? In a time when free, high-quality group calls are standard across nearly every major platform, this feels like a step backwards into the Stone Age.
You're telling us we need to pay to talk to a few people for more than an hour? That’s not just disappointing — it’s absurd. In fact, it’s a catastrophe for anyone who relies on Teams for real collaboration.
It’s not innovation — it’s user-hostile design mixed with outdated monetization tactics. And frankly, it’s ugly.
Skype has been retired
Skype has been retired, ive lost the credits i bought, and teams does not allow to call number abroad. Utterly useless Microsoft, never cares about its customers loosing money
Really bad..
Really bad... I miss Skype. I cannot send any files via teams, constantly getting "cant connect to onedrive" message.. there is an echo I cannot get rid of... it is BAD. edit: extra problem: messages sent to me get delivered only either to my phone or to my laptopm teams. What is the point if I cannot access all the mesaages and files from either device?! this is ridiculous
Skype to Teams
Skype to Teams, what a total mess of false information about the transfer.
I used Skype for private communication with friends, for years and years and years. No interest at all for using it for business.
However Teams will not allow multiple identities so by default on the transfer it grabs my Microsoft ID which is distinct and shares it with everyone on my Skype list. What a huge security blunder that is!! It claims to be about "Teams" in its name but will only allow one ID for me. Information tells me the only way I can have different identities is to go to WebPage Teams! Another security blunder. Wonderful miscalculation from Microsoft. I am already getting spam requests to let strangers join my Teams, arrived the first morning. Like others I have raised these problems with Micosoft and get NO replies. They claim in publicity that all the files will be seamlessly transferred to Microsoft, that is a lie, I can show you many pictures, videos that are only a link of code which needs to be downloaded to be viewed. What a broken hassle compared to looking at historic family and friend pictures and videos! Like many I will be opening my WhatsApp more and going to places such as Whereby which is easy and quick to use with great live chat or vid. The PC version of WhatsApp works really well which I have been delighted to use. iPhone gets so many of my facetime and chat messages nowadays too. So the obvious conclusion.......is Microsoft Wrecked it and you will be loosing me and paid services will go to your competitors with delight!
Skype was so much better
Skype was so much better. The options in Teams do not work, it does not translate the messages, and I work with foreigners. On Skype, I could follow the conversations and respond easily, but now I have to translate and copy everything into my browser. Luckily, they all have WhatsApp, and we all moved there because it is more convenient. I have also sent them an email about it, and they never responded, so they lack service too.
Really bad transition from skype to teams
Microsoft is telling that he will not maintain skype anymore and that we will have to switch to teams. On the principle it is okay.
But in my case, I was using skype for private calls and Teams for my work in home office on my Desktop. Sure, I can add multiple account in teams. But I don't want my company to see when I'm connected when I'm off work. Sure there are solutions but:
- I don't want to set me as unavailable every evening and take the risk to forget to make my status available again when I'm going out of hibernation.
- Sure I can make multiple account on my computer. I already tried for other reasons. But I struggle to run some software on both accounts(microsoft office(despite the fact my license is for 5 devices), adobe creative suite(license for 2 devices, but since I'm already using it on 2 devices, so one account more is considered as one supplementary device. so 3 devices...), password manager which somehow struggles). On those software, I need to log in again each time I switch computer account. So no way...
