Extremely disappointing experience.

The service was unprofessional and the handling of my situation caused me serious stress and complications. Instead of receiving proper support, I felt ignored and pushed to deal with the consequences on my own.

When I later asked for important documents, I was met with an unhelpful attitude and no willingness to take responsibility or assist properly.

Overall, poor communication, poor customer care, and a complete lack of accountability. I would never use this company again and I do not recommend it.

I joined the Dundee office of MMG - TC Group as a trainee, expecting a standard professional environment. Unfortunately, the internal culture is structurally hostile to professional development and highly demoralising.

The most critical failure of this organisation is its management approach. In a functional business, trainees are expected to ask operational questions to ensure accuracy and compliance. In this team, asking questions or seeking clarification is actively held against you. The environment operates on a culture of penalising inquiry rather than supporting competence.

There is no structured training architecture, and the team dynamic is distinctly unsupportive. Management seems entirely detached from the reality of how to cultivate or manage professional staff.

I would strongly advise any trainee or professional considering a role here to look elsewhere. The internal culture will actively degrade your professional confidence rather than build it.

Don’t bother using this company, they took over from the accountant we used for years, my husband was not earning as working on personal projects but he still needed to put through a yearly tax return to stay on self assessment, had to keep prompting them each year, obviously not making enough money for them so they then sent a disengagement letter.

The accountancy firm I worked with was bought out by TC Group 4 years ago and my experience has been diabolical and costly in time and money. The person who deals with my tax return may not actually be qualified in any way as, despite providing clear and comprehensive information, I have had to check everything (which you should do) only to find errors everywhere. I also find errors that haven't been picked up from previous years (I'm not an accountant). It's consistently incorrect with no apology and never any admission of responsibility but I do get billed for every change.
I wrote last year to the MD to catalogue my experience, it was ignored.
This year I have done my own, confident now in what is required (my tax affairs are not complex) having spent many years correcting the paid advisor.
Do not use this company please especially if you are not confident with your tax affairs and do not have the time required to invest in checking their work.
