Absolutely awful customer service

Absolutely awful customer service. Totally incompetent when trying to remove a charge from my property. Each time you call them you get given different information, none of it is accurate. I’ve had to call them 7 times and I’m still no closer to getting the charge removed. Even my solicitor has given up saying they are fundamentally incompetent.

We remortgaged in Jan 2020

UPDATED! My review below was written in sheer desperation and frustration. Homes England are the ones who is currently responsible for the help to buy and they are pretty F useless! Target contacted me regarding this review and has sorted my problem. A weight has now been lifted and I can move on with things! Thank you again!

Homes England...We remortgaged in Jan 2020, 3 out of the 4 deeds were correctly updated to remove the H2B charge. The 4th deed was not done and weren't aware of until my ex tried to remortgage to buy me out!! Myself and the solicitors have been chasing since early July. Hours on hold/ numerous emails sent but no response or cut off for being on hold for an hour each time. I was calling and was told there was no charge against the deed, I had to ring land registry to obtain a copy of the deed to prove to them it was still on. They were still adamant it wasn't, until I said it's a garage then they were like oh yeah we will action that! The title number was provided each time but still was told it was all done in 2020. THE CHARGE IS STILL ON!!

The mortgage offer is about to expire and this is holding up finalising a divorce! Never experienced such incompetence in my entire life. They say email and they will come back to you... I emailed in July and didn't receive a response.

Land registry is still waiting for the information to remove!

Where do I begin.....

Where do I begin.....

Feb 2023 - I open a case to remortgage my home.

April 2023 - My mortgage payments are going to increase by £1200pm. I am told this is with Target HCA and they will expedite this if I pay £150 (which I did stupidly)

June 2023 - Raise a compliant to Target HCA. Which is logged and nothing done. Constantly told "will take 8-12 weeks" when I have been waiting for them to sign a simple document. Never answer the phone.

July 2023 - our solicitors were told on two occasions that the document we needed signing had been "sent for sealing" and should be resolved quickly. Which turned out not to be true.

August 2023 - 6 months since we started our remortgage and 4 months dealing with Homes England, still no further along and being told this is being dealt with. Find out from our solicitors, that the document had not been sent for sealing like previously told as they never had the mortgage offer!! So there was no way they can send for sealing and this was a lie!

September 2023 - My solicitors tell me I could be waiting another 6-12 weeks for my case to be solved, which could result in me losing my house as my interest rate is currently running at 9.5%! All because I waited 5 months for a document to be signed. Due to me making untolds amounts of phones calls and badgering everyday, we finally resolved and got the mortgage.

I cannot even begin to explain the stress this has caused. Not to mention I had a child in May which caused more stress. Financially I had to take a loan to cover bills as I was on maternity leave to help my husband cover everything. This was all caused by the timescales homes england work too. Our mortgage payments increased in the end by nearly £1500pm!! The fact Homes England lied to us we are now arguing with them about claiming the money back where they are asking for more documents.

If I carried on this way when you want your loan paying, you would send debt collectors to my door and try and prosecute me.

I am sick and tired of hearing "we changed system and this caused a delay" The conclusion we want is for the damages and overpayments we made due to your negligence.

Disgraceful!!!

A dimple signed document in the form of a ds3 is all I am waiting for to be sent to my solicitor to be able to rectify the land registry mistake on my plans. Currently I own part of my neighbours garden, which is clearly an error, and Target have been chased numerous times, 1 year later and still waiting, what a utter joke, I have my house up for sale and we cannot proceed until Target release this document. Absolutely disgusting!! I am in the process of escalating this complaint. I would never recommend using help to buy to anyone. They want 20% of the current market value even though they didn’t help toward home improvement costs so why should they get share.

So stressful!!

So stressful!!
I have been trying to sell my house for the past few months and despite daily phone calls and promises of help I am on the verge of loosing my sale. Target cannot provide me with the information I need for my buyer’s solicitor even though my solicitor has written to them twice. Sometimes I’ve spent over four hours a day on the phone to them. Yesterday I phoned them three times and I still haven’t received the paperwork I need. I feel very let down by the entire process and despair at the rising costs.
How do I respond to Targets response please?

PAID HELP TO BUY OFF NEARLY 2 YEARS AGO!

Absolutely USELESS!

I wish to make a formal complaint in regards to our help to buy loan which we paid off in December 2021. We put our home up for sale in Feb 2023 following our son been stillborn in December 22, as I’m sure you are able to appreciate, this has been an externally challenging and emotional time for us. We were due to exchange contracts in July but due to your incompetence we are still waiting for our equity loan to be removed from our account! This has been repeatedly chased by our solicitors but unfortunately they have gotten nowhere with you as they have either had the phone put down on them or they have been told multiple stories by your colleagues.

Because of your lack of care, we are now at risk of our buyers pulling out of the sale and even if we are so lucky to have them stay, we now have no choice but to go on to a variable rate for our mortgage as this runs out on 30th Sept. This now means we will be paying £1,046 which is over a £300 increase because you have failed to remove the help to buy from our account within a reasonable timeframe.

I ask, why was this not removed at the time of us paying it off IN FULL plus £5,000 on top for the ‘privilege’ of using your company. I find it absolutely disgusting and unacceptable that you have treat us this way, we paid our loan off within plenty of time before the 5 years interest free had ended and yet you have failed to do and continue to fail to do a basic admin task.

Our solicitor tried to put in a complaint on our behalf but shock horror, they were told they couldn’t do this and was given the reference number shown in the subject line above to give to us, so we could raise it ourselves.

I am currently 26 weeks pregnant with my 3rd child following the death of my son; this is the last thing I should be dealing with right now. We have been told this is going to be pushed through as high importance due to the timeframe it has taken you to do anything about it and that we would have an update by Monday 11th at the latest. Obviously that date has now passed and we are non the wiser as to what is happening.

I am beyond sick and tired of this standstill situation we have found ourselves in. I expect you to have this dealt with as a priority, I expect myself and my partner to be compensated for the extra fee’s we are occurring and for the disgraceful way in which this has been handled.

I hope my email is actually acknowledge by you and this isn’t another pointless attempt at getting through to you.

PLEASE CAN SOMEONE CALL ME BACK. You called on a no caller ID and gave me an email address but it bounces back!

The worst company I have ever dealt…

The worst company I have ever dealt with.
No duty of care to customers...how they even have a FCA registration I don't know.

Cost me thousands in mortgage variable rate payments...months and months of stress and yes this all happened before they lost the contract for the administration of help to buy.

I have proceeded my case to the ombudsman however target have ignored all contact from the ombudsman.

Customer service, complaints procedure and general organisation Is an absolute joke.

Staff have no idea what's going on...which is probably not their fault..I suspect they bit off more than they can chew with the help to buy scheme and that is why it has been removed from them.

You only need to look on the financial ombudsman website to see the large amount of cases against this company...if that's what you can call it.

Will not be long before a major legal case is taken out against them.
I am sure thousands of customers have incurred financial loss due the negligence and lack of fiduciary duty.

About to loose thousands of pounds and our sale & purchase

The original valuation was provided to them and approved back in August.

On the day of exchange for my partner's flat they then requested a further desktop valuation (the original was an in person valuation).

This was arranged and provided to them within 48 hours - sent on 8th Sept.

It has been marked as Urgent and is with Help 2 Buy's legal department.

We have called every day since to chase. No ETA has been provided.

There are numerous families in the chain about to collapse. We're at risk of loosing over £10,000 in fees and costs.

We just want to PAY BACK the HTB loan!!!!

**PLEASE HELP**

Not working

Ridiculous waiting times. We have had to call Target many times throughout our sale and purchase for Help to Buy loans (which was before the 16th June, so Target there's no need to reply to this telling me that.. I know). Its always an absolute dread.

I'm currently on hold to get my authority to exchange, this is probably the 3rd or 4th time. I cant believe its so hard? There needs to be a better system, the company isn't working how it should and judging by the the other reviews its a consistent issue/complaint.

I suspect my house will fall through (again) if I don't get this authority to exchange by tomorrow, and the only way to get it is to wait on hold for hours. Not good enough.

Hands down the worst customer service I have ever seen. I can’t even put the experience into words. Help to buy customer service is the worst I have ever experienced. I have sent countless emails and received no reply. Deed of Postponement

We have been waiting for a deed of postponement from Target HCA Since March, which we have paid for! Due to their non existent communications or moment from the company our remortgage application has ran out (including extension) We have been told by the solicitor dealing with it that target have been taken over by Lenvi? I have made two email complaints and heard nothing. Or solicitors and ourselves have spend hours and hours trying to speak to someone but always get cut off. Thanks to this company we have paid THOUSANDS in additional mortgage fees as our current mortgage has now DOUBLED.

Customer Service non-existent

If there was an option, I would have given 0 stars. There is no 'customer service' with Target Group.

I cleared my Equity Loan on 25th May. On 01st June, a Direct Debit of the monthly interest was taken from my account. I phoned the same day, and after being on hold for over an hour, managed to speak with a member of the Customer Services Team. They confirmed that the direct debit had been taken in error and that I would receive a full refund within 14 working days.

I have chased several times, via phone and email and this issue is still not resolved, two months later.

I am acting for a client in a remortgage that completed in May. As yet and despite some 15 emails and over 11 phone calls some of which we were left on hold for an hour and then cut off, Target have yet to remove their charge or confirm if there is an issue. Any time we do speak to someone we are told it is being ‘escalated’ but clearly it is not. Am currently on hold again following another email to them being ignored.
