Duplicitous Restock Fees Border on Outright Theft

Website indicates a standard of 10% restocking fee for returns. On my order, that would have been $12.50. TackNRider helped themselves to $20 instead and provided no explanation--I gather that this is due to their deducting the cost of shipping from the initial purchase, but it would be nice if the partial refund email I received detailed this. More generally, the website is nebulous as to what might incur larger restock fees--so, you take your chances on whether it would be worth it to return the product or not. Other reviews that I am reading indicate that I am not the first person from whom they've taken more than 10%.

I ordered a bridle piece that arrived in an unsuitable box, which sustained a puncture while shipping. I sell items on the side and am all too familiar with shipping rates and services--if it cost TackNRider $7.50 to ship me the item in the condition I received it, they are making poor business decisions, as I--a private citizen not using a business shipping rate--can ship the same box/weight for less. I alerted TackNRider as to the damaged box issue on a return form, confirmed that the item had not been damaged...and because it was not the color I had anticipated based on photos of the website, I sent the item back. I did so with the original box as recommended by the website, but taped and wrapped the box and shipped it from a reputable shipping center to avoid further damage. I paid somewhere in the neighborhood of $30 to send it quickly and safely. I wouldn't have bothered had I known that TackNRider would be assigning their restock withholding arbitrarily.

Be upfront about restock fees and don't over-invoice your shipping quite so obviously. FUNDIS ships from Germany, and yet I find that I will continue ordering from overseas to save myself the hassle.

It's one thing to write your return policies in such a way as to protect your business, and stay in business. It's another thing entirely to use them as a scam. TackNRider is profiting on their restock fees, which is NOT the point of a restock fee.

We are extremely disappointed in your characterization of our Return Policy. We are clear that Shipping and Restock Fees are deducted (only exception is where we ship you the wrong item). You ordered a noseband and received Free Shipping. That means we paid Shipping on your behalf.

As a small business, we rely on the support and understanding of our customers. Sorry, we are unable to subsidize shipping and restocking costs. We hope you will understand that there are labor costs to packing, unpacking, shipping, restocking etc.

We are further disappointed but understand your choice to support non-USA based discount (and mostly shady) outfits versus your local brick-and-mortar US based small business.

Purchased tall dress boots but they…

Purchased tall dress boots but they were not the right height or calf size so sent them back and re-ordered the correct size. They held $100 on the return. The website says they have the right to charge 10% on a return but $100 is well over that 10% plus a actually purchased another pair of boots. This is not how you treat a new customer.

Not happy with this order

Not happy with this order. It has not clasp or tie to keep it in place, Not sure why they wouldn't think of this. It clearly can't just sit on top of the horses head and not slide sideways or fall off

I am now happy with my purchase

I am now happy with my purchase. However at first I was concerned. The wireless communication coaching radio and earpiece did not look AT ALL like what appeared on the ad. In addition, it came with no instructions. I was able to call TacknRider and get clarification and instruction.

I ordered a pair of riding breeches for…

I ordered a pair of riding breeches for my daughter. I knew in advance that they were not returnable. Unfortunately, she loved them, but they were a little small. I ordered her regular size, but they just didn't fit. I just wished that the return policy was different. I'm a bit disappointed in myself for taking the chance and in the store for such a policy. Unfortunately, not sure I would buy here again because of the policy.
