Absolutely unprofessional
Absolutely unprofessional. Customer service replies only once a week, and during the account opening process, they send questions one by one rather than all at once—unacceptable! I believe this "bank" is managed remotely by non-Swiss staff based outside of Switzerland. I think the previous reviews were accurate and very helpful. I have written to this "so-called bank" asking to withdraw my account opening application. Many financial brokers advise me to close down any relationship with Swissquote telling me, "Your money isn't safe" . Thanks, Trustpilot!

Terrible Experience
Impossible to get past the verification page. I have had multiple phone calls with their support, they told me it would "be done by monday" "it will be done soon" "You can speed up the process by sending money" so I sent money. A few days later they sent me my money back (minus a 5 euro fee). Months later the account was still not open, they call me on my cell phone and tell me to send money again or they will deactivate my account. End result: Account was closed before it was ever opened and I lost 5 euros in the process. My feeling is that if you have beneath a certain net worth they put you at the bottom of the pile and they neglect your application.

Absolutely no go
TO Swissquote: here the user: wfsn3007 - Another week has passed, and still the money is not send back!. Are you keeping the money of others?
**Absolutely unacceptable customer service.**
My experience with this bank has been nothing short of a nightmare.
While trying to open an account, we deposited **€500**. Then came the endless problems with their verification process. We were told that our photos and selfies were not acceptable and had to be retaken. We followed their instructions and tried again—and again—and again. **At least 10 times.** Every single attempt failed.
At some point, enough was enough. We politely asked for our €500 back and decided to walk away. You would think getting your own money back would be a simple matter. Apparently not.
It has now been **three weeks**, and we are still waiting for our money to be returned. Let that sink in: **three weeks just to get €500 back for an account we never even managed to open.**
This is an astonishing level of incompetence and disregard for customers. If a bank cannot even manage a basic account-opening process and then takes weeks to return a customer's money, why should anyone trust it with their finances?
I would **strongly advise people to think twice before choosing this bank**. There are plenty of alternatives where customers can expect basic competence, communication, and respect.
And Mr. Bürki, as CEO, you need to take a serious look at what is happening to customer service under your leadership. **A company that treats prospective customers this badly should not be surprised when those customers take their money elsewhere.**
**Extremely disappointing. Completely unacceptable. Absolutely not recommended.**

Application has suddenly gone down for 12 hours with very strange error messages generating SMS messages and random notifications. I do not trust Swissquote any more after Client Services had no idea what was going on apart from saying there is a bug and it will be resolved in 1-3 hours.

Discrimination
Swissquote closed my account and, after I asked for the actual reason, confirmed to me in writing that it was “due to the Russian sanctions.”
I am a permanent resident of Switzerland with a C permit and currently in the process of obtaining Swiss citizenship. Nevertheless, apparently my Russian nationality was sufficient for Swissquote to terminate the banking relationship, without providing any individual explanation beyond that statement.
I find this approach unacceptable for a Swiss bank.
After this experience, I have completely lost trust in Swissquote. I will not use their services again and certainly cannot recommend this bank to others.

3 weeks issues and no security in place: I gave up opening an account online
I already have an account with SQ, I am an investor.
While attempting to open a second trading account online, the experience was disastrous and I got as much support as if I had never invested a dime with SQ.
3 weeks issues, 26 emails and no security in place:
- many attempts
- failures in the identification process with selfie and id-scanning
- mobile app crashing (for 2 weeks!)
- IT support asking to use the (non working) app to solve the issues (?)
- after some self-found workarounds I managed to get identified...and the IT support wrote me to identify myself because the process was not complete (although on the SQ web site it appeared green with text "completed").
But the worse is that they kept on insisting to have a 500 CHF deposit on the account BEFORE implementing any security:
- temp login credentials that I could use multiple times, with no possibility to change them into permanent, private login credentials
- no 2-factor auth in place
- no answer in regards of the encryption of the transaction (yes/no)
When I requested to first have all of the above security measures in place before doing any transaction, I was told that "the online account opening script needs 500 CHF to trigger to security measures to be put in place". This is a company decision, not a "script" decision - unless SwissQuote is just an AI chatbot, which I start suspecting. And for sure it is not the reply an investor should get.
I was also told that "once you make the needed deposit, the security measures will be enforced and the mobile app will work for you".
All this, while the app error message was: "The returned workflow is null" - so nothing to do with the account opening.
After 3 weeks and literally 26 emails, Swissquote proposed to open the account in a traditional way via paper forms to be sent via physical mail...starting the whole process over.
Needless to say I gave up.

KYC crap
I have an account with Swissquote Luxembourg. Now it is the third time in more or less 1 month that they block my account.
The previous 2 times it was the KYC crap, the third time I believe it is the same but need to call them tomorrow when costumer care service opens to know the exact reason.
The first time they said a bank statement from the country where I live was enough to unblock the account, it wasn't. The second time I send a government certificate with my address, apparently it is not enough.
I cannot trust a bank that blocks access to my assets and does not send me at least a message with the reason. I will start selling everything, move the money away and close the account since there are other cheaper alternatives.

★★☆☆☆ 2/5 — Way overpriced for what you get
Been a client for a while, and after finally comparing my real trade costs against Interactive Brokers, I can't recommend this broker anymore.
I pulled my own transaction history for options trades (SPY/QQQ/NVDA/GOOGL/SLV) over two trading days. Swissquote charged me ~$210 in fees for trades that would have cost roughly $75 at IBKR — that's nearly 3x more, sometimes charging a flat $5-15 per leg regardless of contract size, which crushes anyone trading small size or scaling in/out with multiple partial fills.
On top of the pricing, I've also run into random "server temporarily unable to service your request" errors when trying to place stop/limit orders on futures — not exactly reassuring when you're trying to manage risk in a live position.
Decent platform UI, easy onboarding, but the cost structure is simply not competitive for active traders anymore. Switching to IBKR.

Unreliable CME/Globex Access and Unacceptable Downtime Risk
I am writing this review to highlight a recurring, high-risk operational failure with Swissquote's trading platform.
Today, between 6:20 AM and until at least 6:45 AM (when I wrote this review CET), both the Swissquote mobile app and web platform failed completely to trade CME Futures via Globex. In futures trading, being locked out of trading means you cannot set stop-loss orders, manage risk, or close open positions. This exposes clients to severe financial risk through no fault of their own.
What makes this particularly frustrating is that this is not an isolated incident—a similar system failure occurred earlier this year for several days.
For a global financial institution like Swissquote, offering an unreliable system without a backup solution is unacceptable. If Swissquote cannot maintain 24/7 uptime for international markets like Globex, they must provide a dedicated 24-hour phone trading desk to handle emergency orders during outages.
Until Swissquote addresses these infrastructure failures and provides reliable platform stability for futures traders, I cannot recommend their service for active market participants.

Generally, although less lately, you can speak quite easily with an adviser. The platform is well done, quite clear and with many features. Executions are fast.
