They are easy to deal with

They are easy to deal with, but I do get annoyed when I have to ring the broker every year at policy renewal to negotiate a cheaper premium either with the current policy issuer or normally a new provider. This always happens when you threaten to cancel or quote a price from a comparison site.
Sure Thing should find the best deal for its existing clients automatically. It's not right that companies rely on the loyalty of customers not to check the market before renewing their policy.

At the end be very careful.

At the end be very careful.

6 weeks prior to the insurance ending I emailed the team to make sure they were aware of my intention of leaving Sure Thing. Their mitigation to multiple levels of charges are "we made it clear in our website" is utter nonsense, while they are there... they are not at all clear when you first read them. If you change your car or make a change to your policy to add extra miles - you'll pay dearly and multiple times as fees are issued out to multiple companies.

Anyway, I digress. 6 weeks ago I emailed the team that i had no intention to renew with them due to costs. I had reassurance from the agent that this had been recorded. Today I'm getting harassed by phone that there's no record of me cancelling.

After the call, I get an email from them stating that my 8 years of no claims are not proven.

When I started out with Sure Thing it was a great thing, Mid term the charges and now the icing on the cake - leaving. Such a bad way of doing business.

Stay clear of this company if you have any inkling of changing cars in the next 12 months or especially make sure you get written confirmation from them of your intention to not renew at the end of your term otherwise like many others you'll see an early payment added before your current insurance ends and likely a cancellation fee for the new year.

Lets wait for the boiler plate response of "Our charges are clearly stated on our website"

EDIT:

Sure Thing's response:
The call you received was to confirm the policy would not automatically renew but also to establish the reason you were not wishing to renew your policy with us.

Now Mine:
Blimey - This is a down right lie and you should be ashamed. If I were to SAR the call, the recording would show that your agent suggested there was no record that I'd told you not to automatic renew - I even had to follow up with an email to the effect last night. On top of this, you claim that you wanted to establish why I wanted to cancel, however On the 29th of April I spoke to an agent named D***, I explained to the agent then why I didn't want to renew and I also followed up with an email to the effect.

When I changed my car I had three charges, one was your "Admin fee" which I might add is ridiculous since the change was fully automated, this is more like a penalty fee as it would appear that no human being was involved in the change given that new documents were automatically generated. Then the Insurer fee and finally the premium increase. Prior to changing my car I had to add additional Miles which also incurred the same fee's as above. When I took the policy out it was around £340, Total costs after changing car and adding 4k mileage was nearly double that.

My reason for not renewing, for the record is that my new insurer are half your renewal costs, Don't charge admin fees for policy changes and provide many standard benefits which you charge a premium for.

You've been a terrible broker ever since I had to change my car in Feb. You essentially intimidated me to keeping your insurance by stating I'd have to pay full prices for things I'd not signed up for or that were added as free - but claiming that I'd agreed to them and then standing behind your "Terms and Conditions".

Onto the No Claims. You sent me confirmation of 8 years no claims a week ago but then yesterday you changed it to not proven. Do you have multiple systems that work independent of each other?

Sure Thing was a good thing until I needed to change my policy - I had no issue with at all. Only after changing did everything change. I've learnt my lesson though.

Hi Nick, thanks for taking the time to leave your review. When a change is made to a policy, we charge a £30.00 service fee. Your insurer will then recalculate the premium to reflect the change you have made. The change in premium, whether it should increase, decrease or remain the same is not something we as a broker we are able to influence or override.
We received your request not to automatically renew your policy and this was actioned accordingly. The call you received was to confirm the policy would not automatically renew but also to establish the reason you were not wishing to renew your policy with us & to see if there was anything we could do to change your mind. We apologise if you felt harassed by the call, we can assure you this was not the intention.
When a policy is stopped from renewing, we are happy to issue the proof no claims discount. However, if we issue the proof of no claims discount before the policy has ended, we cannot issue it as ‘proven’ as there is a possibility a claim could be reported between the date the proof of no claims discount is issued and the end date of the policy.
We trust this has helped with your concerns and if you have any further concerns or queries please forward them on to feedback@surething.co.uk. Kind regards, Mick
