Once again, not worth a button
4 years since my last review of this clever idea that causes more problems than solutions. As a plumber, I have just removed yet another faulty surestop causing water hammer and disrupting the mains flow and replaced it with a straight piece of copper pipe. This was fitted in a middle flat and causing noise disruption to the resident below and the resident of the middle flat.
Highest number of reviews are 1 star, tells you something............
Got to wonder how this thing ever got wras approved 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

I wanted to ask what the internal diameter of the 22mm valve is as I have read that it is the same as the 15mm valves. Hence negating the benifits of installing 22mm pipework.
Can you 'guess' the answer?? no nor can I, but that is the only way unless I buy the 22mm valve and check myself.
Customer service at its best, as customer service/support have ignored my request.
Suerstop with no access
The main problem we faced was the plumber installation. I'm sure, like us, many people fit a Surestop when access to the stockcock is likely to be impossible when fitting a new kitchen for example. Ours worked for many years but eventually failed when we turned it off for a shower replacement but then it wouldn't turn back on. The issue was that the plumber fitted the 'valve' component in a place that equally inaccessible. Long story short: We ended up hacking the carcass of the kitchen unit to replace the failed Surestop. My advice is to make sure the plumber fits in such a way that the system can be easily replaced.

this surestop device is meant to stop leaking problems but mine actually leaks from the device making it useless if your reading this thinking i need a device like this you dont eventually it will cause you problems your better of without one
Stopcock worked for 30 years. Surestop failed on first use
Stopcock worked for 30 years, was replaced by Surestop so we wouldn't have to take bath panel off to turn water off. First time we used Surestop and water doesn't turn back on, just a dribble so no water until plumber comes in 4 days. Terrible product dont use, we are getting stopcock refitted and Surestop removed. Would give 0 stars if possible.
Help needed
Not so much a review as a plea for help. I must have accidentally switched the Surestop device off while I was rearranging pots and pans under the sink, but when I switched it back on there's no effective water pressure, merely a trickle. Before the call-out, is there anything the householder can do to remedy this?

First fitted a Surestop about 8 years ago. Just fitted my second replacement this morning. The first failed after a few years when it refused to turn on. The button just jammed. The replacement lasted a couple of years before it reduced to a trickle of water. Third one working today but how long?
We had a Surestop valve fitted about 4…
We had a Surestop valve fitted about 4 years ago. All was fine until we had to switch the water off as the shower needed replacing. Then the fun began. Later that day, we had no water pressure. We called a plumber who was not familiar with Surestop valves and when he arrived, the system seemed to have settled itself down, but we had to open the tap slowly or there’d be no water. The fault had some hallmarks of a vapour lock, but this was ruled out. Our water seemed okay, but ran slower than before. Fast forward to yesterday and once again, no water. I cycled the switch several times and could hear water running very slowly. Every time I flushed the toilet, or ran a tap, the water soon stopped flowing.
Having then researched Surestop problems, it appears I’m not alone in having difficulties with the product. I rang Surestop today to see if they had made improvements to the stopcock and the person on the other end of the phone was very evasive, saying the problem sounded like routing of the tubes but dismissed my question, saying that 98% of returns had no fault. It was at this point I decided I’d revert to a manual stopcock. This will mean dismantling the fitted units because the Surestop has been fitted in an inaccessible position. More headache and had I known this, I’d have had the original kitchen fitter reposition the Surestop so that if it failed, replacement could be made easier.
To sum up, the idea is fantastic, but can fail. If you do go for a Surestop, position it where it can be accessed because in time they will fail. I was wholly disappointed by Surestop’s customer service who didn’t answer a straight question and on this basis, I’m reverting to a manual stopcock.
20 years old and all is well
I fitted a remote valve possibly 20 years ago. It has given us no problems at all and its ease of use means we regularly switch off the water whenever we go away for longer than a day.
Do not use this product if the remote…
Do not use this product if the remote switch is more than 2m from the stop cock as Surestop no longer supply an extension. What purports to be an extension kit now has no connectors and is described by them as a replacement, not extension.

I have had a simple Surestop switch for 4 years -really good no problems. But I decided to upgrade to the iwatercontrol so I could remotely turn off water when away from the building.
It does not work.
I have spent hours with support who are very helpful and have reset and re-installed firmware and asked me to re-create my account so it works.
I have spent in total about 4 hours resetting and e-mailing (they reinstalled firmware , redirected to a different router , reset etc etc) but it just does not work.
Do not buy this product
I was taked into fitting a Surestop by…
I was talked into fitting a Surestop by a bathroom fitting company as my stop cock was difficult to get to. The fitter said their would be no problem . So four weeks ago they started. Three weeks ago the Surestop was fitted. Plumbing to sink toilet and shower was completed this week. to start with slightly reduced water pressure and now the other bathroom fittings are plumbed the water has decided to stop. Pipes banging . Now it is going to be expensive to remove sink unit maybe a few tiles which cost over £80 each to get to the offending .
The plumber who fit the Surestop is comming to finish a few bits tomorrow. I havent informed him of the problem yet. Its a bit late 21:58.
Fitter arrived next morning and went straight to the switch. The tubes to the Surestop unit had got kinked as they settled. Now operating ok.
Leta see how long it lasts

Had my surestop fitted 2 years ago in my new kitchen, 2 years in and so far so good, no problems with the water pressure at all or anything else for that matter, i chose to write this review because I feel most people are eager to write a bad review yet when a product actually does its job people forget about it, hence the late review.
My only concern is how the product will last long term ie... 10, 15, 20 years down the line. That's why I've not given 5 stars

Absolutely RUINED my water pressure..... My shower is literally a useless dribble now..... And the council say it has to stay in...... So my only solution is to fork out a lot of money to get a water pump fitted...... My advice DO NOT get one.....

We had one of these fitted under 3 years ago have just gone to switch our water off with it to fix a leaky tap and it hasn’t turned the water off at all . It did work when we last tried it but you don’t really use it that much to remember when it last worked .In fairness I have just emailed Surestop today to ask about how long we are covered under guarantee for and if they can help so let’s see if they will help With reading all these reviews though I am a little concerned
Reduces water pressure
I had a plumber come and install a Surestop last week, as my kitchen unit makes it difficult to access the stopcock.
Since it has been installed, my water pressure has dropped significantly. The toilet takes longer to fill up, the sink takes longer to fill up.
Worst of all, there is a noticeable difference in the shower, where the pressure wasn't that great to begin with. I have had to set the shower head to a "jet" setting to get any kind of shower at all.
I spent a lot of money getting the kitchen unit removed and the plumber to install this product.. looks like I will pay out again to get this terrible thing taken out so I can have a proper shower again.
It does work. It stops the water flow at the press of a button, which is convenient. But reduced water pressure is too high a price to pay.
I wish I had looked at reviews for Surestop before I bought it, as its clear that I am not the only person with this issue.
A Not Sure Stop
I booked a plumber to change a tap which requires turning off the stop cock, he came to my house I told him to use the SureStop and it doesn't work - the water supply is still at full force. I checked the switch myself and the Off doesn't hold. Please help
Surestop water switch: the worst thing has ever happened to my house
We have our main valve in a hardly accessible position so we asked a plumber to make it more accessible. He recommended Surestop and my husband loved the idea to use a switch to cut off the water in case of emergency.
However since we installed it our previously amazing water pressure dropped significantly. We can not run 2 taps at the same time, or simply just filling up the toilet cistern, the upstairs shower barely gives water and our other electric shower gives either only hot or cold water. Bought a new one and asked to be installed by another plumber. 2 days later the issue came up again. Turned out it is because of Surestop and the way how it fluctuates the water pressure conflicts with the electric shower.
All in all cost a fortune to install and we didn't gain any advantage with it only more troubles and spending. Deeply disappointing.
Honestly the worst thing what ever happened to our house. Avoid it at any cost!
a load of crap..
a load of crap... never worked in the 5 years we've had it, and now has cost me £1000s to get the floor access, and a plumber to remove the offending useless unit.
