An absolute disgrace…

An absolute disgrace…
DO NOT ORDER ONLINE SHOPPING FROM SUPERVALU…
I ordered grocery shopping online from SuperValu for the first time in the last 10 days.
I was new to this and selected the time slot 2pm to 4pm.
The delivery did not arrive until 6pm!
My online order was 160 euro.
The chicken fillets expiry date were 2 days out as was the Brennan’s bread.
The picker obviously selected the least fresh items…
I always check dates on goods and reach to the back of the shelves to get the most fresh produce always… this was not the case with SuperValu.
When I mentioned to the delivery driver that he was very late, he mumbled under his breath that “only 2 drivers are on”! Not as much as an apology.
I have emailed SuperValu and no reply either.
No surprise.
If you are considering ordering grocery shopping online please do not order from SuperValu ( Deansgrange).
Not worth it.
They don’t have the courtesy to reply to their customers complaints so a bad experience all round.

Supervalu or scam?

I ordered 4 packs of 12 cans Guinness @ €15 each pack. I was sent 3 packs of 8 cans @14.50 a pack. Also Bulmers @ the same offer (12 for €15).Same thing happened. I was sent 2 packs of 8 cans @ 14.50 a pack.
My next order was 4 packs of 15 cans Guinness @ €19 per pack (60 cans). They delivered 4 packs of 8 cans @ €12.50 a pack. Coinscidence? I think not! By the way my orders also contained .. meat... veg.. dairy.. fruit.. fresh bread etc. It feels like a scam on drink offers.

Buggy website, poor delivery

Wouldn't want to order anything from Supervalu again. Ordered only once, but needed to make several attempts on the website both to create account and to proceed with a payment.

The delivery was even worse - unpacked, wet products, whose paper packaging was ruined...Didn't look nice and didn't feel like even trying these products.

I have being geting online delivery…

I have being geting online delivery with Clonmel and Kilkenny since March 2020. Have to say they are so helpfull and friendly and i have had no issues, they are ontime, and if they are running a bit late which has only happened about twice i will always get a phone call. Over all, they have being such a help, making it easier for me to manage without bringing my kids into a busy store during Covid.

Many items unavailable (online shopping)

I did some online shopping with SuperValu during lockdown. Some orders had up to 15 items not available and no substitutes provided. I made allowances a few times as it was during the pandemic. I switched to tesco which didn’t seem to have the same stock issues. I tried SuperValu again for the first time in weeks today (click and collect from Grange, Cork) and again many items were unavailable. You just can’t rely on the stock levels online. Their IT system obviously isn’t updated often enough. I wouldn’t recommend. I will be sticking with Tesco for online shopping. Much slicker operation.

Loyal customer but corporate card purchase system silly

Like the quality of the food and their offers are very good. They reward loyalty a lot..
dropped one star as having the 14th December as your cut off date for businesses to purchase a corporate gift cards is akin to closing a retail business for the month of december and pushing people over to Tesco

Non existent offers.

SuperValu sent out text offer to buy 2 x packs of Rockshore for €25 starting today, Thursday 10th Dec. Arrived at 10am to procure offer, unaware that drink couldn't be sold until 10.30. There was no sign of any Rockshore so asked an assistant and was told that the offer was over. Not satisfied with this explanation I found a more senior assistant and was told that there wasn't any but that it would be in Friday.
Luring in customers with non existent offers is too common in shops nowadays.

No Customer Service

Three months ago I bought a product which was rancid, though well within the date. I rang the helpline and was told that someone would contact me. I received no contact. So over the intervening period I have sent numerous emails, but no attempt has been made to contact me. No customer service at all, I have just been ignored. Not what I expected, very disappointing.

SuperValu Concerns

Staff friendliness is always there in SuperValu, but the one thing I do not like is the higher prices on many items when compared to the other supermarkets. For example, SuperValu Milk is €2.15 for 3 litres and the equivalent own brands in Tesco and Dunnes is €2.00 for 3 litres; Flahavan's Organic Oats are €2.59 in the other supermarkets, and are substantially dearer in SuperValu. If those sort of things could be addressed, SuperValu would be really perfect.

Excellent

The SuperValu Sutton branch is consistently excellent. It has a huge range of products, is very well organised and the kiosk system for basket shopping is very efficient. The staff have maintained a friendly and approachable attitude during the stress of the Covid pandemic, while keeping the queues and new measures under control, and I really admire this. Thanks for such a great service and keep up the good work!
