Very disappointing service

Have been customer for years despite the slow web hosting and many downtimes. We were just a bit late to cancel the subscription for another year, but still they refused to show some empathy so we get stuck for another year with this terrible company and service.

Ben al jaren klant ondanks de trage webhosting en vele downtimes. We waren net iets te laat met het opzeggen van het abonnement voor nog een jaar, maar ze weigerden nog steeds enige empathie te tonen, dus zitten we nog een jaar vast bij dit vreselijke bedrijf en service.

Performance issues and bad support

I have had performance issue for several months now. In the past they had some performance issues as well, which were related to hardware issues which then they did fix.

Now after several months of communication their response is: it must be your system. After doing extensive tests, reviewing different information about the system, and sending the support all the information they asked for in the support tickets, the only thing they do is responding: make sure it's up-to-date and here is a page to look into your performance issues.

I am busy with just a simple installation of some packages with apt, and while the download has been finished within a few minutes, the installation takes over 30 min. Also upgrading my system to the latest major release took over 8 hours, while doing this properly normally could be done at most in about 2 hours. Via my work I handle many other virtual machines and never had this as an abysmal performance, even if the internet would delay it by a lot.

Based on this I can only assume they want me to look somewhere else, and never return to their company, and make sure to tell people to never get any product here.
I am open for solutions, however the support I have received next to the fact that support is responding sporadic, different people, and they only talk in circles I don't believe they will come up with any solution for this.

Edit after response:
The Virtual machines everywhere are reported to have SSD's; even with a linux load of 0.50 (and lower) the entire machine stops responding while applying settings. Sites stop responding within 60 seconds (sites that normally takes about 0,5 seconds to load) and other related things. This would go faster even on spinning disks on systems that I have been working on. This has nothing to do with outdated hardware since the services running on this machine have gone down. Even after this the machine is running at less then a 10th of the performance as when it originally was deployed.
I am open for more testing on my end, but within the virtual machine, apart from stopping it completely, there is nothing really running on this.
In short: based on the responses, both public and private,

We are sorry to hear about the performance issues with your VPS.

We have checked internally, and we couldn't find any issues related to the hardware of the server. In that case, our possibilities in troubleshooting are limited, due to the fact that our servers are unmanaged and we can't check/adjust the configuration for you.

We do see that your VPS is still running on our previous platform. Servers on our newer platform have better specifications and improved performance. You might consider migrating your data to one of our newer servers, which can be found on this page: https://www.strato.nl/server/vps-linux/. We can then cancel your previous server for you by the end of the current invoice period.

Please note however, that you will have to migrate your data manually. We do not offer an automatic migration to our new platform.

One of the worst companies in tech support

One of the worst companies in tech support. I had VPS in the Netherlands with over 100 clients. just stopped out of the blue. I have chased them for a week to fix it.

Invoice after cancelation!

Poor customer support. They give wrong information and refuse to correct their mistake. Ended my contract with them, and I still received an invoice!

As for the cancellation: you have cancelled your contract during the first contract term of 12 months. The first possible cancellation date is therefore at the end of these 12 months. That's why you've still received an invoice. We can confirm that your contract will end automatically at the end of the contract term and you will receive no further invoices.

Awful service

Awful service. They don't cancel your contract, extend it and after you are trying to terminate it- they refuse and send the invoice to incasso

Strato is the worst

Strato is the worst. I applied for a server on the 17th of August, and by the 18th, the service had still not been activated. I called the helpdesk, which took me an hour to reach. After finally getting through, I had to explain the issues and what was needed to resolve the problem. I waited for days without receiving any response or follow-up. On the 22nd, I called them again and discovered that they had a record of my previous call, but there was no ticket that had been followed up.

Excuse me for venting my frustration, but the lack of communication and action from their end is quite frustrating.

Strato charges even what you don t use ...and they make coercive payments of it.

Strato a predator behavior and they levage them self putting you in a hostage sittation of them by coercion.

I was a previous client, have been sent a invoice from a service cancelled wich implies the payment of all 1 year wich one when it should be te payment of only one month. I requested to be corrected ( internally is just issue a credit note for this invoice and after issue a new one with the right values) but they say i have to pay it, and then they will me return the difference ( this mean i depend of their good will to receive it back , and when also). They ask me to pay 12 months when only i have to pay one. And because i refused to pay 12 months of a service i do not have any more (and after reading some reviews i have no trust on strato) they strategelly coerce me with inkasso intrum.A complaint about this behavior was made in ACM Adwijzer (autoritait consumer market in netherlad). I told i do not refuse to pay what i used. I do refuse is to pay one all year.

Other situattion with strato i lived as client wich i believe has to be mentioned, is that at some point i subscribed an webshop, But after i subscribed it a template that is advertised by strato in their web page was not availble.
So i was mislead to a subscription of a service with specif features that strato could not provide.

In conclusion strato sent to inkasso a invoice to pay from something i did not used.

In my experience as a strato client just go for other alternatives.

Please note that all our contracts come with a fixed invoice period, which is communicated on our website when you order a product. You are always invoiced in advance for the coming period. If you cancel your contract before the end of that period, you will receive a refund for the remaining period.

In this case, we weren't able to charge you for the invoice. That's why we sent you several reminders, before eventually handing it over to a collection agency. Because of our large number of customers, these are all automated processes. This is also the reason why we can't generate a new invoice for you. We hope for your understanding.

Policy of forwarding even low amounts to collection, doubling cost to consumers

STRATO forwards even low amounts to collection agencies, and then the agency adds ontop of it 40+ EUR collection fee. They did not try to contact me via Phone to resolve it. If collection agency is not paid within 7 days, it further increases the fees, blowing up the cost to consumer. I ended up paying 90EUR to collection agency for a service that was not used, but automatically got renewed after baiting me in with free trials. Have cancelled all services and will never look back.

The policy STRATO employs to forward low amount invoice to collections, without phone contact to consumer and regardless of the amount, is something I have not seen any other company do. The company is fully aware that if a 40EUR invoice is sent to collections it will immediately double the cost to the consumer.

There is little to no warning about this. You can only cancel contracts by the next renewal date after you receive first invoice.

The phone support tries to be helpful, but unfortunately they are always put in a difficult spot due to the STRATO company policy.

When you order your product with us, we give you an overview of our terms & conditions, in which we state that all contracts are renewed automatically. You can cancel your contract at any time through our customer login area. We also provide a 30 day money back guarantee.

In this case, we did not receive a cancellation for you. Therefore your contract was renewed. We were not able to charge the invoice to your account. After this, we sent you several reminders via email. Only if we do no receive a payment or response after several of those reminders, we might forward the invoice to a collection agency.
Unfortunately, it's not possible for us to contact every customer individually in the case of an outstanding invoice. Of course, you can always reach our customer service if you need assistance.

We hope we were able to explain the situation and we regret your disappointment.

It is a scam.

It is a scam.
They offer low fee and contractually an auto renewal.
There is no way to terminate the contract before renewal.

I used the service for a trail and now I am stuck with high costs and no option to find a solution. They also send a debcollector.

STOP think we'll before you sign up as simple as they market it..
