Replacement battery as good as the original.

This was a purchase of a replacement battery. It is E450 replacing older B450 for use in a variety of Mountfield garden tools. After charging and only the simplest test it appears to work as well as the original did - until I dropped it into the stream! I'll try not to do that to the new one!

STIGA A50v user experience....

Cuts and runs well with good battery life, but for a supposed AI with a camera, it doesn't avoid obstacles all that well. Parked cars in its path seem to cause my mower to freeze up right away without even trying to go around the temporary obstacle, forcing me to reset it constantly, and if you dont notice the notification on your app, it will sit there idle until the baytery dies. The wheels slip on even flat terrain where there may be some rough spots. You cannot remotely reset the bump sensor once triggered which is a problem if you are not there to reset it in person.

Hi Mika,

Thanks for sharing this. Glad to hear the cut and battery life are working well, but we are sorry to hear about the issues with navigation.

We are constantly updating our software to improve performance, so feel free to check our online guides for tips and settings, or reach out to our support team or a local STIGA dealer so we can help sort this out for you.

Best regards,

Great pruning tool

Tried my new Stiga power pruners today, They worked perfectly cutting through tree branches and brambles with ease. After one and a half hours the battery was still showing 3/4 charge. Easy to register on Stiga website in order to activate the warranty. One small issue was the safety switch which (a) seems a bit flimsy when compared to the build quality of the rest of the pruner and (b) when wearing leather gloves the switch can sometimes be awkward to use unless you have a dead straight cut with nothing in your way. In fairness I am not cutting a jungle of brambles and hawthorn every day. Would I recommend it. Yes.

Mountfield/Stiga customer services failure

I bought an SP185 Li Kit lawnmower direct from Mountfield/Stiga that comes with the E 450 48V 5Ah ePower Battery (274015004/ST1).
It is advertised for lawns of 400 sqm - that's a big lawn 10m (30+ft) wide x 40m (130+ft) long.
Actual experience:
1. Run time with a full battery using the self propelled is 20 minutes and completes about 1/3rd of that advertised.
2. Run time with a full battery without using the self propelled is 30 minutes (just under) and completes about 1/2 of that advertised.
3. It stops frequently with any slight build-up of cuttings and simply does not deliver sufficient power to cut anything but very short dry grass.
3. The battery takes around 3.5hours to recharge.
4. I contacted Mountfield/Stiga on 26Mar2026 after measuring 6 recharges and uses with my concerns that the battery simply did not deliver to the specification.
5. Having received no reply I followed up my email on 30Mar and again on 08Apr.
6. I called Stiga customer services who noted my emails on their system and that they had not replied. They agreed to pass the problem to their technical support who would contact me.
7. Having received no contact from them, I followed up with Stiga on 15th April.
8. Having still no reply from Stiga I rejected the unit by email on 17Apr and advised them to collect and provide a full refund.
9. I have contacted Stiga customer services on 18thApr, 19thApr, 20thApr and 14th May to which I received automated emails promising replies in the following days. No contact resulted from Mountfield/Stiga on any of the above despite their automated emails. They simply ignore all contact.
10. The unit sits still awaiting collection and refund. It clearly is not suited for the advertised purpose, if grossly underpowered, does not have capacity to last as advertised, and there is no warning that it can only perform on short, dry grass and even then with frequent cut-outs.
A singularly useless customer services from Mountfield/Stiga.

Minor niggles for a top end machine

Picked up my stiga 700 wx yesterday, First impression is that it makes a good job of mowing the lawn - or at least it will when I get used to it. This is my first front cut machine and the grass was longer than I usually leave it at this time of year. There was an 8 day gap between losing my old broken ride on and getting the stiga. Downside, a piece of plastic trim fell off within 20 minutes of mowing, I'm unsure where it's from but suspect it had not been fully clicked into place. Something is also catching and in danger of breaking when steering full lock. The app is unintuitive, as are the manuals - it took me a while to find the info I needed, and when I found it, it didn't match my machine exactly , even though it was the correct manual for the model number. Minor teething problem niggles perhaps, but I didn't expect these with a top end domestic machine. On balance, I think I'm happy... but not prepared to give it five stars yet.

Ride on mower worked for 10 minutes…

Ride on mower worked for 10 minutes then developed an electrical fault that kept blowing the 10amp fuse. No response from the agent at first now need to wait a week for someone to possibly come and look at it. £3300 mower and it’s just an ornament. Please don’t buy from this company there products are garbage as far as I’m concerned. If it’s not repaired in 2 weeks I will seeking a refund. My advice stay away from this bad engineering and even worse quality control.
