Fantastic experience

Fantastic experience - again!

I read through the 1 star reviews and I don’t recognise that experience at all. This is my third purchase from Squarehood - first was a hood for my 40mm Nikon I’m using on my Zf and the last two were a hood for my new Ricoh GR4 Monochrome, a brass thumb grip for the same camera, and a leather neck strap and leather hand strap.
All shipped and arrived earlier than the expected date and were shipped via FedEx so easy to track and handled well. I even had a ‘Thank You’ email from the owner after my first purchase. An inquiry I made was met with a quick reply the following day.
The products are top quality and I will continue to order from Squarehood in the future.

Incredible design, usability and customer service

Having used Fujifilm for over 10 years and on 10 different lenses (and 2 x100 series cameras), one weakness has always been the standard hoods. I’ve tried hoods from numerous brands. And while some have been good, NONE have even come close to the quality and usability of the Squarehoods.

My old favorite was the 35 mm f2 hood which has developed beautiful patina over 5+ years, but still works as flawlessly as the first time I clicked it on. New favorite is the 56 mm 1.2 wr, which is incredible.

I cannot recognize anything from the 1 star reviews, and have always been met with utmost respect from anyone at Squarehood, including the owner. Even if there were issues or questions, they went above and beyond to make things right.

I’ve ordered a lens hood from Squarehood online shop

I’ve ordered a lens hood from squarehood last month and only after placing the order I came on trustpilot reading so many bad reviews so I was litteraly worried. But I wrote to the assistance of squarehood and they reassured me, in fact the product was shipped very fast, arrived very fast and the lens hood is just perfect for my fujifilm x100vi, working perfectly without even needing an adaptor! So I’m glad I didn’t read these reviews before to place my order and I’m glad I can tell to all of you that I had a very good and positive experience with this shop!

Dishonest company

Dishonest company. On their instagram, they promote the ricoh grIV as such a fantastic camera, just so people buy their rubbish hood. I called them out twice just to let other people know about massive problems the ricoh IV has, they deleted my first comment, they blocked me after the second one. Careful people. Don't sit up for hype. This company is like a registered Joseph Stalin, if you have an honest experience and verbalize it, they make you disappear. Nothing shows better that I was telling the truth. You can also read a lot about these issues on reddit. This company? Is disgusting. AVOID.

Incredibly dishonest and sly. Garbage product

Incredibly dishonest, sly and unprofessional company. Do NOT order their products, as you can get higher quality products from Temu for 1/10 of their price. I had to return mine because of their poor fit and not only did I have to pay 30 euros for import to my country, which was not warned about, but I had to pay another 20 euros to send it back. Then they told me they had to pay 20 euros to accept my package in return, and asked if I was okay with this. I said no, and then they proceeded to threaten to refuse the package and send it back to me. Seeing as I paid 70 euros for their absolute garbage product, and I had to pay 50 euros back and forth, and now they will deduct 20 euros, I will effectively have gone 0 in total — without any hood for my camera.

Do NOT support this company!

Beware -a fuir

Beware, not an honest company. I ordered equipment that never arrived. They have withdrawn the money and are no longer replying to my e-mails. So more than 120€ they collected and I don't have the material

I had a frustrating experience with…

I had a frustrating experience with their customer service. I ordered a square hood glass, but they incorrectly listed the country of origin as China instead of Sweden. As a result, UPS charged me a $50 VAT/import fee. When I contacted customer service, they refused to take responsibility for the mistake. I asked for assistance, but they were unhelpful and rude, claiming there was nothing they could do. Very disappointing! Never buying products from them again. They are overpriced anyway.

One star is way toooo many

Okey, listen folks. This is overpriced to begin with, on top of that you’ll ask to pay expensive shipping cost. If you want to return, if they get back to you, then you will be dealing with a terrible attitude of the customer service. 1 star is way too many!

Poor design for the summicron 40 hood

Poor design for the summicron 40 hood. It fell off after the second day of attachment. The two screws securing the hood are not sufficient to secure the hood. Should have been a threaded design instead. Literally wasted 76 $ as it fell off and lost it. Not recommended!!!

Poor quality, poor fit, slow delivery, rude customer service.

The hood arrived with smudges as if used. The quality of the hood was not what I expected for the asking price and the fit was horrendous. It didn't screw on straight and after adjusting, it was still a little wonky, you basically had to wear it a little loose if you wanted the straight fit. I get the feeling it's a one man band operation as well, response to issues was a little rude and was made to feel aforementioned issues were my fault. Tried their best to avoid return.

Avoid.

Ended up with Hoage sqaurehood which was cheaper and much better quality and importantly fit with no issues.

be aware that squarehood is going to harass you with annoying email "reminders"you could easily do without.

the purchased lenshood is really what i have been looking for. a small hood that befits the tiny summicron c 40mm and obliterates the need for any stupid fat adapter from the unnerving S5.5 to E39 which differ in the pitch of the thread only.
now you can use any standard e39 filter with(in) the lenshood - much better. squarehood makes one of the sleeker of these s5.5 to e39 adapters too (also recommended!).
as far as the lenshood for the summicron c ist concerned: it is well made of metal, fits the small lens well and offers the e39 thread, which makes it the best all in one solution for the 40mil i have yet seen. i also consider it fair priced all in all.
me personally i would have liked similar construction with e46 mm filter threading, as i'm looking to have only one filter size in my bag. and i consider the 46mm size the most universal size in the leica world.
one small point of critique, a square lenscap (as comes with the hood for the 35 summicron or the xf 28mm 2.8) would have much sweetend the deal. the hood did not come with any spare screws, which believe me, you will need.
hence not the full score. ( Minus 1 star = 4 stars)

i have since been receiving multiple annoying "reminders" of items that were allegedly still in my cart (they were not. i had already purchased!!) and also requests to leave feedback which i also already left. i disapprove of such spam and have therefore reduced to only 1 star.
yes, i am more than a little irritated.
one should also notice, that since i have reduced the score, my review has disappeared from the squarehood website. i guess the business model does not withstand rightful criticism, figures. i recommend buying via the reseller of your trust, rather than directly from squarehood.
(minus 3 stars for the harassment of a customer = 1 star)

Squarehood Thumb Grip for Fuji X100VI

I recently purchased a Squarehood Thumb Grip for the FujiFilm X100VI through their U.S. Distributor. I asked Squarehood directly, and the customer service agent (Thomas Mansell) explained that I needed a different model and shipped a brand-new part to me. The first shipment ended up being damaged/lost by UPS. Thomas immediately sent a new order to be delivered by FedEx with priority shipping. Two days later, I started using this excellent product on my camera. It is a beautiful piece of engineering that looks and operates as if it were part of the original camera design. I cannot thank Thomas and Squarehood enough. Excellent product, excellent company, and most excellent customer support. Thank You!

I have recently purchased a Model P for…

I have recently purchased a Model P for my Fuji X100F.

The Product:

It's well designed, compact, and the curves and angles are subtle. Well constructed and installation is simple. The Model P will easily accomodate a filter.

There is a rubber lens cover which is thoughtful.

What could be better?

Somewhere on the website for installation of the Model P, it would be helpful if Squarehood noted that to fit the hood on a Wide Angle converter (WCL II), you need to remove the internal ring. Also a reminder that you need not remove the adjustment screw would help the over ambitious!

Ordering & Delivery

I had asked a question about lens hoods that would work with the WCL II, and after a correspondence of 2-3 emails, I had a decent idea of what was needed.

The answers were knowledgeable, and genuinely looking for a good option for the client. It took me some time to commit, and I felt no pressure to complete a purchase.

When I finally went to the website to buy, the process was simple, and the delivery was quick. Special mention goes to packaging, which is a simple cardboard box, with minimal plastics etc.

What could be better?

Shipping is expensive (DHL), so a normal post option would be nice.

Overall

Some will say it's Hood, or just an accessory etc, and that there are cheaper or different options available.

All true, but I'm not disappointed with the service, delivery, and the product.

It does what I had wanted, and does it well.

Worst experience.

Worst experience.
I made an order for my x100vi and the hood almost broke my camera.after several emails and messages on social asking for a return they blocked me.and only answered after i asked ecc to step in.
And now they are gasslighting my emails as usual again.
UPDATE
To this day they keep they do not accept to receive the return.
harassing me when ask them to pick up the return parcel.
They even said they will avoid my refund as much as they can.
Clearly the owner who also responds to emails has issues.
I have never been treated like this as a customer.
When exposed with the emails from the courier that they tried 2 times to notice him about the return parcel.
They stop responding

Very expensive rubbish!!!

Difficult to get the square hood on squarely - you really hve to tightent it down with a lot for force. Stupidly expensive for what it is - a total rip-off. Also the cap for the hood is a ridiculous design. Fits so tightly that it's very difficult to put on and needs a hefty pull to get off. Terrible. No point in contacting customer service as they don't really do 'customer service' - lots of hoops to jump through in order to get refunded. I have ditched the Squarehood and bought a 49mm circular hood freom E-Bay for £5.95 and it's mles better than this £67 piece of rubbish. I have thrown the Squarehood away - I could have sold it but I don't want to lumber someone else with it!!!

if they confirm it's faulty they reimbursed. They confirm by message that they'll send a replacement, but they just forget...

Discutable quality, low average custommer service...
I do not recommand.

Built quality ok, but not perfect!

I bought the squarehood Glass for my Ricoh GR III.
The pictures on the website looks great and very professional. The hood is made from metal and feels and looks very good......but,
When I received the hood it was quite loose on the camera, and I had to put some tape around the hood to get it fit firmly. They have also a stupid, really stupid rubber lenscap. If you put the camera in the pocket of your jacket, it will fall off immediately.
@Squarehood, please make an improvement on the products, especially the lenscaps!

MY FIRST SQUAREHOOD PURCHASE

Expensive for what it is but the square hood for my Fuji 23mm lens is very well made and it looks like it is permanently fitted to the lens.

I contacted the company prior to making my order and their customer service was excellent and convinced me to make the purchase.
