I recently reviewed thus company as…

I recently reviewed thus company as being brilliant but the key thing about them was thy allowed you to pay to try a few shall we say 'dummy' pairs on ...Eg you might go to an opticians and try some on before buying and having your lenses fitted...
Guess what they have changed their policy and despite me offering to pay all postage costs to enable me to try them on before having my lenses fitted to my chosen pair ... They wont do it If your glasses dont mater they are OK to use but there are many companies will still post you glasses to try... I need that service... they have replied to me below complaining that I am reviewing them for a service they don’t offer... No I am correcting my recommendation as I can no longer fully recommend them... You need to try glasses on before buying them and they don’t want you to The really stupid thing is under distance selling rules you can still buy clear lens stuff and if you don’t like it they are lejsgot responsible to cover the refund postage and still refund you in full. So despite not offering the try service anymore technically it’s still there it’s just they don’t not want to adhere to distance selling rules. I do hate if whe you leave a honest review and the company had a go back. It just anyagonsec everyone. Bad way to treat a customer

‘thank you for your comments. We thought long and hard before we withdrew the try before you buy service. The service was beginning to effect the stock control for our business and it became unsustainable. Whilst we appreciate that this has been frustrating for some of our customers, we are slightly upset that you choose to review us on a service that we DON’T offer. Surely a more accurate use of this forum is to review a company on the services they do offer.

Kind Regards

Great service!

Excellent service start to finish with these guys. They reglazed a pair of 1950’s spectacles for me. Brilliant finish on the new lenses. Great communication start to finish. Would recommend 100%

Slick service - great value

I hadn't used on-line ordering of glasses before so was nervous about the outcome. But it was great. Took a home trial so I could try the glasses on without risk. Getting them fitted with my prescription lenses was quick and painless. And the prices were better than I saw elsewhere. Recommended.

Certainly no opticians

On 19th August I ordered a pair of glasses. I'm myopic and my prescription is quite high so I chose a beautiful small frame with 45mm diameter. Not being happy with higher index lenses and their poor optical quality I opted for low index lenses which according to the Opticampus lens thickness calculator would be 8.6mm thick which is acceptable in a plastic frame with a width of roughly 5mm. The order had been accepted but the next day I got a kind email in which I was told that my order could not be finished as ordered as the (external lab) can only handle lenses up to -8d. And anyway, the lenses would be "so thick they would literally fall out of the frame". What a nonsense! I've got far larger frames with a lot thicker lenses and of course they won't fall out of the frame and why would they?
So the lady from customer service suggested that they had to at least "surface" the lenses in order to reduce their thickness. If they had done their homework they would know that concave lenses can't be reduced in thickness like convex ones can. Concave lenses are already manufactured to the thinnest possible thickness in the centre of the lens (2mm in this case) and indeed the lenses in the glasses I then received are exactly as thick as the calculator suggested, or maybe 0.5mm thinner. But this has been done at the cost of the anti glare coating which was included in the price and which has been removed from the flat surface so loads of reflections can be seen by others on my lenses and I can see my skin and eyes reflecting from the back. The customer service claims that this was standard and the coating is only supposed to be applied to one side - nonsense again! In my 28 years of wearing glasses I always had (and still have) anti glare coating and of course it always is applied to both sides of the lenses.
While the overall finish of the glasses is very good (which was done by an external lab), the not knowledgeable customer service as well as the missing anti glare coating are a no go. When I emailed them after I had received the glasses there was no way they accepted my complaints.

Extremely customer friendly & helpful

I ordered my specs & when they came I received two sets of prescription glasses. I found a note saying the batch of specs id ordered weren't up to scratch & they'd sent me a similar set completely free. I emailed them to say thank you & bad a response straight away. Definitely ordering again in the future!

Snazzy Specs & Fab Help

I've not used this company before, but having come across them on-line I though I would give them a go. Pleased I did. My prescription was just as I'd ordered, the frames are awesome, and the anti-glare coating on the outside! of the lenses works a treat for long hours spent staring at a PC screen for work.
I called with a query about my order a couple of days after having made the order, and customer service were great, she knew what I was talking, I knew what she was talking about, and that's all I ask, that someone understands.
Will definitely use Specspost again, and have told all my specs wearing friends to take a look.

Very helpful and trustworthy service

I was very happy with the process of my order with specspost. My glasses had to be specially ordered therefore there was an unforseen delay however upon calling the staff were more than happy to help and I was reassured that my order was on track. Very happy with my glasses and would highly recommend.

Found my hard-to-find designer specs!

I was really happy with the SpecsPost service - I had tried on a pair of designer specs at my local optician but the total cost of frames and lenses would have been over £300. I contacted SpecsPost and the chap on the end of the phone went out of his way to source the pair I wanted, at a much reduced price. They arrived quickly and in perfect nick - very pleased all round :)

Excellent!

My order from SpecsPost was perfect. I got fab designer Vera Wang frames for less than anything in Specsavers, they kindly made a tailored payment arrangement for me, & I recieved my glasses in less than 2 weeks.
100% recommended.

Decent friendly service, great glasses, amazing value!

As a first time buyer of glasses online I was a little apprehensive. The order took 8 days to come (SpecsPost promise delivery within 10 working days) The glasses are spot on, at least the same quality as my optician at about 80% less.. I even got a phone call a week later to check that everything was OK and then a 10% off glasses voucher through the post. Highly recommended.
