An untrusted source made contact with me and before me even getting to the message , Zane and his team saved me. I truly appreciate this sort of alertness, time and support. Great R/M site but it did take a long time for me to get a roommate, but it was from this site that I got one!
I had my room for rent on this site for some time along with Craigslist and I finally just got a roommate from this site a couple of days ago. THANK YOU GOD!! I'm giving it a thumbs up however it took a long time and I re-edited my ad a few times throughout that. It's definitely an app though to place the room for rent and I'm sure people would have quicker luck than I did. Thank you SpareRoom!

Last minute madness - Legit
I applied for one week and followed the site recommendations. I was in a hurry and other sites I tried to use were scam sites.
SpareRoom is very effective and I found the perfect place within a couple of days. I’m very pleased with the results and found me a great temporary place to lay my head. I’m very grateful.

I had advertised on SpareRoom that we had a small balcony room available in the Bay Area, and someone teaching classes in the area responded that she would like a room during the week (she goes back to her home in ski country over the weekends). She has been a lovely, considerate and thoughtful guest and roommate, and we are delighted to have her here.

I signed up with SpareRoom
I signed up with SpareRoom, but I was praying that it wouldn't take forever to cross paths with the RIGHT person to share my home with!!! I sent invitations to everybody who messaged me. In a few days ... maybe 3 days later this kind young lady messaged me. Her and I talked for about 30 minutes and came to the same conclusion that was the her and I would get along nicely!!! It happened so quickly!!! ☺️☺️☺️ Thank you SpareRoom!!! Many blessings and miracles to you, your, me and mines!!! I believe that covers all of us!!! 🙏🙏🙏🥰🥰🥰

Scammers
This company might be good to find rooms to rent, but not to post rentals, i was guided to pay for a record check to be able to post a rental, and was "denied" suppossely because i didnt past the record check, further investigation revealed that the case number they provided me with is fake. Which turned this into a scam, i got robbed by spare room for $15.00 be careful out there, i might be 1 of thousands of people trying to post a property, at 15 dollars per person is a lot of money.

I am so dissapointed with this company.
I have used them many times and have previously been very good. On this occasion i created a file and within minutes of subscribing was asked to verify using DIGITAL ID. I refused this and chose not to use the service. I requested a cancellation within minutes and over the week have been ignored or refused a refund. I am now looking into the formal complaints procedure

The ID verification you saw is not mandatory and is instead an additional feature offered with upgraded accounts and is completely optional.
Verified accounts can help reassure other users on the site that they are legitimate, however, please rest assured it's perfectly fine to use the site and advertise a room without completing ID verification.
