It's almost impressive that the service is this bad, in terms of almost every aspect: cost, ease of use and app design.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS
AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
ALL REVIEWS ARE NOT EXAGGERATED. NIGHTMARE COMPANY.
Pricing totally out of sync with all other charging companies. There are plenty of cheaper and better alternatives.
Not a good advert for buying an EV
Tried 4 different chargers near Royal Albert Hall. 3 didn’t have any QR code so no way to start a charge as their app is appalling and doesn’t let you book or initiate charges - doesn’t seem to do anything other than be very slow. A 4th charger did have a code but the website endlessly crashed or payment processing just hung. Gave up in the end having wasted a good 30 mins. How and why do you make it so difficult? Taking up lots of spaces for parking in London for no good reason - not a single person using ANY of your chargers / spaces and now I know why. Utterly useless!!
Blatant thievery
Blatant thievery! No wonder this company has 1 star. Scan the barcode takes me to a page, put in my details. It takes £50 out of my account but says it can’t charge, no reason given. I call up customer services who say I won’t have the money back in my account for 10 days.
Should be easy to find a better company. Don't use this one
Avoid this company like the bubonic plague!!! They charge an exorbitant £49 pre-authorisation fee which will show up on your online banking statement for a week and took me into my overdraft. As if we don't have enough to worry about during a cost of living crisis. Their competitors don't charge this much and to add insult to injury the chargers are slow 👎
Simply dreadful
Simply dreadful. Tried using a charge point in Wandsworth Southside. They couldn’t make it more difficult if they tried. In this tech age need to make UX intuitive not put barriers due to poor UX. For payment one needs a credit card which I don’t often carry as I use my phone or Apple Pay. Wandsworth council need to appoint someone better
Ridiculous £49 ‘deposit’ charge
Ridiculous £49 ‘deposit’ charge. Charger had a green flashing light, notes said green means available so tried to connect but it didn’t work. Got a quick response on phone but she said charger should have a solid light so she would reset it but I would have to pay another £49 making it neatly £100 to park and charge in Camden which is absolutely ridiculous. To top it all she tried to blame me for using a faulty charger when there is no way I would’ve known it wasn’t working. They should make it clear if the green lights are NOT solid then do not use it!
Cowboys
This is by far the worst company you could ever deal with. They charge idle fee when you register allegedly because you don’t have a card. That card takes ten working days. In the meantime, every time you charge your car they charge £15 idle fees on top of the usual charge. Complete rip off. I called to enquire 7 times but no one picks up the phone. I’m complaining to Camden about them. I would stay clear
Appalling service and really expensive
Appalling service. £49 deposit for a charge session that did not work. Tried it twice and it still failed. Now I have to wait 3-5 days for a refund of £100, this is immoral- you would not have this for fuelling a car with petrol so why with electric for a sub standard service.
Ever since it was acquired by the oil…
Ever since it was acquired by the oil company Total, the service has gone downhill. Tried charging at two seperate chargers with our source card, both not working. To add insult to injury, we were then were charged £14 for power which we never used as the charger was not working. Called customer services 3 times - they offered the explanation that someone else must have used the charger after we tapped in (even though it did not work for us). Shameful that these oil companies - Shell, BP and Total - are acquiring the UK electric car charging providers - and making it difficult for consumers. Should be banned as it conflicts with their core oil business.
Terrible
Terrible, never works. Asks you to make an account but for some reason it I'd very buggy. They send you a card which doesn't work. Then send you a new one which doesn't work. Also charging points just don't work I general. Have you waiting at the charging point scratching your head while they take £100s out your account due to thier error and you have to wait x days to get it back.
Company blame you for their bad infrastructure
All the charge points in my area have been intermittently broken for the last 3 weeks. Complained about it multiple times, especially because I was charged an idle fee 2 minutes after starting my charge and it saying it was working because there is a grounding issue with the chargers and so it stopped charging. Reached out to customer service and 10 days later they reply saying I didn't plug it in correctly or my car was on 100%. Blaming the customer especially when the email clearly states the issue won't get you far, I'm cancelling my subscription it's more inconvenience than it's worth.
Ridiculous idle charging…
Ridiculous idle charging rules...ignored serious mitigating circumstances and replied with a generic email...disappointed with lack of empathy
Terrible first experience
Terrible first experience!
Took £49 from my account and wouldn’t connect; spent 30 minutes waiting to get through on the phone for someone clueless to say I had to come back to it later.
The worst and most disrespectful…bunch of @£#%
The worst and most disrespectful company/people of which i was speaking is petra! I hope you never have the unfortune to deal with, they ring-fence just under 50 pounds to use there charging point which will be taken from your account regardless of charging which also will not be credited back to your account for at least 10 days, as someone who is registered disabled I am disgusted as this money is needed for day to day living I could not use there charger and due to this I was stranded there for at least 7 hours, but after the fact I have realised they had taken the 49 pound and I wasn't made aware they would take the money from my account and not refund it for over 10 days
The terminals are badly managed and I…
The terminals are badly managed and I have lost over £20 in idling fees despite the blue charging light being shown.
Most chargers do not work
I have a subscription with Source and the pricing and abundance of locations is great. However, the charging locations are poorly maintained and the customer service is non existent. Of the 8 charging stations within 1 mile walk of my home only 3 of them work and as such are never available so I mostly have to drive further afield and plug into a fast charger at greater cost and greater waste of my time.
Really great experience using the…
Really great experience using the Source London Greenwich chargers. Always able to charge my car fully when I'm at work or at a friend's house.
Warning: this company will charge you if you connect to one of their broken chargers
Drivers of electric vehicles (EVs) in the UK will know all about the irritation of broken public chargers but Source London thinks it’s fair enough to take money from a driver even if they connect to a broken charger.
A few weeks ago I parked my EV in Greenwich and connected to a slow Source London charger using their app.
Three hours later I returned and found that it hadn’t transmitted any charge.
Frustrated, I connected it to the neighbouring Source London charger, which was working, and got around an hour of charge before I had to leave.
But later I discovered Source had taken two payments from me - one for the successful charge and one for an “idling fee” for the time I was connected to their broken charger.
Naturally, I contacted Source to point out their error and get a refund for the idling fee.
I also expected an apology for the fact that they had been operating a broken charger, wasting my time and meaning that my EV was less charged than I planned.
To my surprise, they not only initially failed to apologise but informed me that they would not be refunding the idling fee because “our records indicate that other users were able to successfully charge at the station during the same period” and “no error has been found at the chargepoint”.
So Source Lonodn is claiming it was somehow my error rather than their broken charger (it wasn't - I'm very experienced in charging my EV) and in their view that means I'm fair game for a penal idling charge.
This is far from the first time I’ve encountered broken chargers operated by Source Lonon. But this is the first time I’ve been charged money by them for their failure to maintain their chargers.
Company stuck in the stone age
Tried charging 4 times - each time failed charge. Debit card charged £50 each time so now out £200 which will be returned "7-10 days later"
Honestly what a ridiculous policy - other charging companies return the holding fee instantly. Customer service representative was nice and has escalated but really shouldn't be holding onto to this amount for 7 days.
