The company will freeze your account if you beat their market makers under the disguise of "affordability checks"

I have been a long time member of the site and bet with them for many years, its obvious it's not a real exchange and just a bookmaker in disguise as they seed their own markets and when you beat them they throttle your bets and eventually they freeze your account. I'm now in a bizarre state where my account over the years is in a healthy profit, i have been asked where the monies i bet with comes from, when i explain the truth( that is I'm using profit i made from over the years) it's not accepted, instead customer service wants to know my job and pay and company name to see if i can afford it, even though i have explained several times i do NOT use monies i make from my job, it's purely recycling profit from the site, they will not accept this, what is one to do? I have ended up using another site (betdaq) that doesn't put their users through this bizarre behaviour, would recommend you do the same too.

Opened an account as I've not had another exchange account since joining Betfair years ago.

Anyone trying to establish themselves in this niche market is going to find it tough competing against BF so to have any chance you really need to offer something unique or better than the the brand leader.

The liquidity on markets is obviously a million miles from what you get on BF and that issue will only improve by getting more customers and ultimately more money on the site.

With this is mind, the 2% commission is ok but exactly the same as BF on their basic rate, there's nowhere near as many markets offered and because of the lack of liquidity on a lot of markets, the cash out options are poor value.

One of the biggest issues I've found with the site is the w/d process. My first w/d took approx 12 hours to hit my bank. Five years ago that would have been great (used to wait up to 5 days at weekends for my BF w/d's), but in the modern digital age and quick bank processes it's poor and will restrict me from using the site more in the future. I used instant bank transfer because I read some reviews saying Debit Card payments were slow, but it's still the issue of "processing" w.d's that takes the time.

All in all just an average experience which is sad to say because the one thing BF fails massively in is customer service, which is the poorest I've ever encountered from an established bookie. From the other comments Smarkets seem to have that nailed and that's very important, but to grow their site more, they need to improve lots of other things.

Smarkets is solid – best exchange I’ve used

Been usin Smarkets for a while now and honestly its just easy. The site’s clean, runs fast and don’t have all the clutter or ads you get with some other places. The 2% commision is a big win – more money stays in your pocket.

I use it mainly for matched betting and laying off offers, and its been smooth. Odds are decent, markets settle quick, and withdrawls actually turn up without any fuss. Had to contact support once or twice and they was helpful too.

If your into betting smart or just want a reliable place to lay bets, Smarkets is defo worth it. 5 stars from me.

Untrustworthy company - beware

Closed my account and kept my deposit soon after opening an account with them, citing that I potentially have a duplicate account. Customer service is slow and their procedures are concerning.

Be aware that you may lose any monies you deposit.

I will update once resolved, which I suspect will have to be via the gambling commission. Steer clear.

SCAM!!

SCAM!!! I have tried to place a bet, they accepted my deposit and then decided to suspend my account for more security checks (even though i have been through the full sign up process). most importantly, they took my money before suspending the account. Why not ask for the verification before accepting my money? i have tried to get into contact with them but the only why is through an extremely slow email process. Just use Betfair instead! :)
