On the 19th March 2022 I purchased a "Silentnight Smart Wi-Fi Plug - model A6". Today (17th March 2026) I received a message stating that this item has been recalled due to a risk of fire and electrocution? Silent Night tell you to bin the unit and they offer as a gesture of good will a voucher for £10 to spend on their website "sleepypeople.com".

This is a total joke, this company have endangered my family and my property for the last four years and they do not even offer a full refund. They now want me to jump through hoops to get a poxy voucher that I will probably never use all because they could not source safe products.

The following information from Trading Standards / Citizen Advice regarding product recall requirements is obviously wrong?

Full Refund/Replacement: If an item is recalled, you are entitled to a remedy that makes you whole. If a repair is not possible or safe, you should get a FULL REFUND.

Proof of Purchase: While retailers may ask for a receipt, you should still be able to get a refund or replacement without one if you can prove it is the affected model (e.g., photo of the model number).

Timeframe: You can claim for a recall even if you have owned the product for a long time, as these are safety-driven rather than warranty-driven.

My next port of call is the retailer I purchased this item from, obviously the manufacturer & the website in collusion with this process is not to be trusted.

UPDATE 19th March 2026 following the attached reply:

As I clearly stated in my review this website is clearly working in collusion with Silent Night Bedding to provide a GOODWILL VOUCHER to compensate for a dangerous recalled item. Trading standards are clear that in these cases a FULL REFUND should be provided not a voucher on some obscure website.

Super quick shipping! I got a SilentNight matress topper and I'm really happy not only with the quality of it but also the price and service of Sleepy People!

I would give 0 if possible.

Placed quite a large order the day it arrived I received an email for 20% off. To save hassle of returning and repurchasing I asked if this could be applied to my order which was refused. Many companies offer this now to retain their customers.

A week or so later one of the items broke!! I contacted the team and returned the item.

This was back in July. I have chased the team as I have not received a refund or replacement. Disgusting customer service and would advise to avoid at all costs!

Much better quality items and service from Dunelm. I have since had to replace all items due to poor quality. This company clearly doesn't care about their customers.

Game changer in the land of sleep

I was getting too hot during the Summer. Just became restless and uncomfortable in bed. Then a friend told me about the cool Gel Mattress Pad. Got one and now Summer sleeping is comfortable, cool and refreshing.

Cooling Gel Mattress Pad

I was getting too hot during the Summer. Just became restless and uncomfortable in bed. Then a friend told me about the cool Gel Mattress Pad. Got one and now Summer sleeping is comfortable, cool and refreshing. Wish I had bought one earlier.

Purchased a speaker pillow for my husband, such a great idea. Unfortunately the description was wrong and it could only be used with an iPhone, not android as it said. I purchased it through Boots.It took 3 months for a full refund to appear in my account.

Lovely lightweight quilt... being menopausal I was struggling to sleep but this quilt is cool enough for my hot night moments but warm enough to let me snuggle under for a cosy sleep.. I love the feel and look of it and looking forward to no covers to wrestle when washing so bought two! I will definitely buy more!! ☺️
