Have used Send My Bag quite a few times over the last three years to send clothing backwards and forward between Australia and the UK for a family member who is over in the UK on a working visa. Always reliable. Reasonably priced. Easy to book and great communication from company when you have questions. Highly recommend.
Not worth the money or hassle
Sendmybag insists that personal effects shipments will not be charged customs fees, but everyone I spoke to who has used this service from the UK to US has been charged customs fees. The questions on the customs declarations form are worded terribly and do not make it clear that answering in a specific way will result in customs charges. N/A is an option for one of the questions, however, selecting it will result in customs charges for personal effects. N/A should not be an option on the form. It should be yes or no. Sendmybag say that they will dispute customs charges on your behalf, but they will not. In addition, they are charging 23% fuel surcharge at the moment, however they use UPS and if you ship directly through UPS, there is no surcharge. It's just another way for them to make money. Save your money and ship directly through UPS.
On the plus side, my boxes are expected to be delivered within 2 days of shipping. Small win.

delay in delivery
The picking up and shipping was on point .It went perfect.But my experience receiving my bags was not great.I was not informed i only could use a German number, so the one working day before Easter they (Fedex ) did not contact me,i waited all day, so I had to wait another week to recieve my things.I was travelling. So it created issues for me.

I would definitely use Send my Bag again and would recommend. From start to finish I found the customer service to be excellent. My queries either by email or telephone were answered promptly and when I had to change the pick up date nothing was too much trouble. It is a long way to New Zealand but the tracking service put my mind at rest as we were able to follow the whole journey.
Excellent Customer Service from DHL
First off, I had no idea they used a shipping service to ship. I thought they were their own company so was quite surprised when a DHL Van showed up to pick up my suitcase. Pick up went great and off my suitcase went from California to the UK.
Once in the UK I was worried my suitcase would not arrive in time. Had to make a few phone calls but ultimately the gentleman from the UK DHL customer service ended being the most helpful person to help assure I received my suitcase quickly. I so wish I would have gotten his name. Anyways, everything arrived in great condition despite the fact that customs had to go through my suitcase. Nothing was lost and all my items were there & intact. I will most definitely be using this service again. My suitcase wasn’t too heavy or big since I only packed clothing items, so the price was reasonable and it saved me the trouble of haggling with my suitcase through the airports. My carry on carried my essentials and 1 extra emergency outfit so I will most definitely do a repeat of this when I go back to the uk next year.

The customer service is efficient and really helpful for a first time customer. Some details needed clarification and every customer service agent was able to provide reassurance and guidance. When my bags were delayed in customs, they handled it immediately and things were on the way in a reasonable amount of time. I will add that my booking was a last minute decision and the delivery delay was because of that. Assure you pre book with reasonable amount of time to have reasonable expectations. Because I booked so last minute, without proper tags etc, the small delays were reasonable, and the company stepped in to keep it smooth and seemless.

Last year, I hired them to pre-ship a bag to Sicily for an extended work trip. When it came time to return it, their downstream vendor, DHL, never showed up for pickup. This came after waiting an entire day with no pickup window provided. I ultimately had to spend an additional hour and €50 on a taxi to deliver the bag to a depot myself.
I gave them the benefit of the doubt and tried again this year. The result was identical. No pickup. No apology. No meaningful effort to resolve the issue. And a flat refusal to reimburse the out-of-pocket costs I incurred. Instead, I was told that if I wanted my bag returned, I would need to make the same trip to the depot.
If they cannot rely on their vendor, they should not be taking customers’ money for a service they cannot deliver.
The failure is theirs. The inconvenience and cost were mine.

I sent a large bag from the US to a hotel in Madrid where we were attending a wedding after four days of travel with a small bag. The bag was in customs and we never received it. We then had to buy clothing for the wedding. As it was not to be delivered until after the event and our return to US we told the hotel not to accept it and return it to the US which it was with an additional charge of $160. $320 and never got bag. And $600. in clothing to replace what we needed. Then 2 month later I get a bill for an additional $60 because my bag was oversized by 1” as I did not include the handle in the initial measurement, although they said it was 10” larger which is wrong. I spent another 1/2 hour on phone. All phones are polite and shmoozy however the company is terrible! DO NOT USE INTERNATIONALLY.

A good experience
Emigrating, I realised I had more stuff left after the shippers had been. Packed and labelled 2 suitcases and they arrived at my place in the US less than 4 days after me. Price was reasonable. Two things to note: tape that outer label on VERY WELL and be prepared for the case to be banged around a bit, they both looked a bit battered on arrival, but not broken, so just won't send fragile cases. Nothing that wouldn't clean up once I'd arrived.
Beware of delivery issues
I booked this service for my luggage from Cambridge to Lisbon, my partner and I are nomadic and have been traveling for a year. I’ll never be booking this service again after what happened.
Despite waiting at the window for 5 hours (twice) to ensure we didn’t miss our luggage delivery, we continued receiving ‘a delivery attempt was made but no one was at the address to collect’ emails from Sendmybag.
I tried to speak with Sendmybag customer service multiple times and they didn’t even know what was wrong with the delivery until FedEx claimed that the address was incomplete after multiple “failed attempts” where no one actually showed up— the address we gave is the one we have for the flat and ironically, a package was delivered to the flat successfully while we were waiting for our luggage to arrive.
I googled FedEx reviews in Portugal and saw that claiming an address is incomplete is a recurring pattern.
I paid for this service and I still ended up paying to get my bags from the FedEx station in Lisbon to the flat I rented along with the headache of dealing with this and the delay.
The Sendmybag customer service staff were indifferent about my experience, they don’t care about the impact delivery issues has on their customers.
