charged and blackmailed for an invisible damage

At the moment when we have returned the car we have been charged of 97,56€ because of a damage under the front bumper, absolutely invisible from behind, to see it you have to lay down the floor and look behind the car...
First of all: i've rented many, many cars in my life and none was checked behind, this is the only company that i've never seen doing something similar, second the damage was less than 5 cm. where other companies normally don't charge... The price to pay was decided and showed us with a message on whatsapp, when i've complained about it asking a proper Damage Price List to see the amount, and how big the size of the damage has to be to be charged, the responsible of the office replied and blackmailed me that i would have been charged of 300€ or more if I've refuse to pay or further argue..

Gave us an empty fuel tank, made us return to different location

Gave us an empty fuel tank, told us to return it at 1/8. First off that’s not the same as empty, second it’s very difficult to get the fuel just right so we ended up giving them a free 3/4 tank for which they did not give us credit. Scam. Definitely an intentional scam.

Also it booked us a 530pm return but then at the office when getting the car they told us they close at 12 on sundays so we had to return it across town at the airport instead. That is not what our reservation was and affected our travel plns. Again no compensation.

Be very careful with these people! Toll Pass problem! Toxic environment against minorities

My mother and I rented a car with this company for three days when she was visiting me in Lisbon(June 2019). At that time everything went smoothly, we picked up the car and delivered it with no issues. However, after one year we received an unexpected huge bill letter in our home. Even though we paid for a toll pass when we made the reservation and paid for everything related to this toll pass when the car was delivered, the Portuguese toll company, called Via Verde, is now charging us - claiming that we did not have this toll pass(identificador eletrónico) when we drove through several tolled roads (Pontinha, Torres Verdras etc.). We contacted SadoRent and they said there were additional toll fees to be paid and an attempt to charge our credit card was made after three months of the end of contract, but the transaction was declined by our credit card bank. Since they were supposedly unable to charge our credit card, they simply decided to send the bill back to the Portuguese toll company (Via Verde), which added more than 300% of the total amount in additional fees. We contacted our bank and no attempt was made by SadoRent. According to Portuguese Consumer law(Lei n.º 24/96 de 31 de julho), costumers must be contacted first when there are any additional fees before sending the bill back(art. 9-A, inc. 2,), it does not matter if the contract says otherwise because any contract clause against Portuguese Consumer law is void(art. 16, I). But this company did not even try to contact us as it is legally required by the Portuguese Consumer law. So be very careful with them, make sure your Toll Pass is not defective, otherwise this might happen to you. It also seems that SadoRent has an especially toxic environment against minorities like foreigners, people of color and others - at least we felt that way. If you belong to one of these groups, you might want to find another car rental company. We have been in touch with the local Portuguese police (polícia judiciária) and Portuguese Regulatory Agency (Autoridade da Mobilidade e dos Transportes). We might sue them in the next months.

On Sept 12

On Sept 12, 2019 I picked up a BMW at SadoRent in Lisbon through Argus car hire. I paid the full amount plus a hold of 2200.00 EUR Insurance At that time I agreed to an additional 1.85 Euro per day for a transponder that would track road tolls automatically and save having to stop and pay at each toll.
On Sept 16, 2019 I handed over the car, they confirmed everything was OK checked the transponder and confirmed I had to pay 24.35 eur in tolls
On Oct 16 they charged me another 37.85 eur again for tolls. I asked a receipt and was given one for this amount which I think is fake as the original receipt 24.35 euro.

So they charged me double for tolls 24.35 eur in office and 37.85 eur by their free will.

Based on that I would be cautions when renting from them.

On Sept 7

On Sept 7, 2019 I picked up a Toyota Corolla at SadoRent a Car near Lisbon Airport and was billed the full rental of $578.77 Canadian equivalent to my Mastercard. Plus a hold of 2200.00 EUR Insurance At that time I agreed to an additional 1.85 Euro per day for a transponder that would track road tolls automatically and save having to stop and pay at each toll.

On Sept 17th I returned the car with a full tank of gas and left following their inspection and confirmation (verbally) that the car was in good condition and no issues.
On Sept 22 when checking my MasterCard account I saw that SadoRent had charged my card an additional $692.84.

After several e-mail requests for a refund of the double billing, that were always "Under investigation" and would get back to me. I telephoned on Sept 30th and was shocked at their statements to me on the phone:

1.They suggested that I had rented two cars, which naturally I refuted . Would be impossible for me to drive 2 cars simultaneously.
2. When I argued the fact I had rented and driven one car only they then accused me of filling the gasoline tank with Diesel fuel and unless I could prove I had not done so they would bill me for damage to the engine.
Luckily I have all of the receipts for fuel purchases during the rental and all clearly show 95 Octane gasoline was put in the tank.

It feels to me that this is a SCAM and that when I asked for proof of 2 cars rented they could not provide same and they are now grasping at straws in accusing me of putting diesel fuel in the tank

I STRONGLY recommend that everyone avoid this company.

Excellent car hire service

Excellent car hire service. Service was quick, staff very attentive and delicate- specially Sr Antonio who went the extra mile for us.
The office was clean and the shuttle drive 2 minutes away from the airport. I highly recommend this car hire company having used several others before.

Cheap, but you get a smaller car for the same money.

We had rented a Mitsubishi ASX ( simular to Nissan Qashqai), as we were 5 persons going on vacation at the countryside.
At arrival at the station we only became a small Honda Jazz, as they had no ASX.
We had to drive away in a some smaller car with a very little space for our bags.
They were cheeper in Price compared to other Companies, but off cource, if you get a smaller car, then.....
The service at the place went all right, all though it took quite a long time to get the car at the station away from the airport.
PS.
We allways take some Pictures of the rental car before driving away, We also use a few minutes to make them write all the present damages down on the contract before driving away.
This car had damages inside on the back seates.
