In general everything was great. The problem I have with Ryobi is trying to find model and serail numbers. NOt sure why they can't do like most companies call the numbers what they are.

I have a huge collection of Ryobi…

I have a huge collection of Ryobi tools, and for the most part the tools are great, although heat management seems to be a real issue, my complaint is the after sales care, particularly the customer service, which is, by far the worst I have dealt with, on several occasions I have had to deal with them and to use the word hopeless is a huge understatement. I don't know if this is a tti issue or just Ryobi, but my advice is buy another brand if you want good after sales care, as you absolutely will not get this from them, I reported a fault with a tool 6 days ago, and I still don't have a proper answer as to what happens next.

Purchased battery lawn mower and strimmer package. Strimmer broke on first use. Emailed twice with no response. Called and spoke with a rude customer service rep. Agreed to replace strimmer but would have to return first one and wait 7 days. Advised i would return the whole package. I was told i would receive an email within 3-4 minutes to start process claim. It didnt arrive. Called back was told process had net been started. Re did agreed collection day Am. Guess what ! Not collected, no emails nothing. Called again. Advised that previous call handler hadnt started the process as there hadnt been time. This was 3 days before agreed collection. Again agreed for collection on Friday - still not received confirmation email. I will never buy from Ryobi ever again or recommend them.

Unfortunately l am looking at the brand…

Unfortunately l am looking at the brand that going down the hill very fast. I start using ryobi from 1982, they had blue color. What I am seeing the quality is getting worse and worse, unfortunately all my tools are Ryobi and I have to slowly go to another brand that quality still is there, first the tools rust very fast, second their batteries die right after warranty and not accepting any charges, I have 10 of them that are in my shelf marked as bad. I hope someone from company see the reviews and do something about it. Also the cordless wet and dry shop hatches are very bad design some time they get lot and them you find out you are out of $150 unless find the time and figure out how to fix it.

Derek Marina and Aviwe Ndzoboyi are HEROES

Aviwe Ndzoboyi helped me fix an error in a recall. The previous rep asked for my receipt (not required in a recall, only a warranty exchange). That rep wouldn't process my replacement. It took days until I realized I needed to speak to another rep. She got the replacement started ASAP and transferred me to a level 3 rep to make sure I got the same or better replacement item. Give her a raise and her own parking spot! That's when superstar Derek Marina took over. He's amazing and should be running that whole department. He showed me, with patience and grace, how I was getting a great replacement mower. He also heard my issues with the old batteries and sent out replacements at their cost. I can't speak highly enough of him. But he should also get a raise and his own parking spot. Because of them I no longer have to worry about my previous mower not working and my grass getting above my knees in the front yard. I have a garage full of Ryobi tools and will continue to buy them thanks to the hard work and dedication of their excellent customer support team. I was always kind and professional with them. They returned that genuine respect with genuine respect and genuine care. Hire more people like Aviwe and Derek!

Customer Service 1/10

I have been using Ryobi tools for a few years now and have typically had zero issues.

This one star rating is purely based on their customer service.

I submitted a request for information regarding warranty claims and the process involved. I have the string trimmer that incorporates the edger. 18V.

There is a piece of the Guard Assembly that has broken (the cutter). Simply trying to find out if this is covered under warranty as my trimmer is less than 3 years old.

I have been contacted by 6 different representatives.

One asked for photos and receipts. I did not provide receipts as I was not logged into my account during that purchase. I have the original manual.

I then submitted photos and was told nothing regarding the warranty other than here is a diagram.

I then submitted more photos and was given a diagram of a completely different tool and the order process.

The lack of customer service or heavy use of AI in this workforce is not helpful.

Trying to get qualified help on the Recall of my mower is absolutely ridiculous.
1. You CANNOT get anyone that speaks English plan enough to understand!
2. You can not get information that makes sense.
3. Ryobi seems to me trying to hide this Recall and hope no one has a problem!

If I could they would get no stars

If I could they would get no stars.

All our tools are Ryobi but after hearing my husband on the phone to Ryobi customer service I can assure you I will never again purchase another thing off them not only was customer service completely rude and not helpful at all we are left with a lawn mower that is in absolutely perfect condition except for the front wheel has broken and Ryobi do not have replacement parts we can’t even use another model to replace they don’t make them to fit nor do they have replacements.
So what Ryobi you expect people to just throw away an absolutely perfect lawn mower because your company does not stock a part that is simply a front wheel…….your kidding yourself.
Please people do not waste your money especially on the lawn mowers because if something breaks they won’t have the parts for it.
Enablers of a throw away society….this really angers me.

Fix My Lawnmower

All I want is to have someone from Ryobi to come to my home to fix my 40V 20 inch self-propelled lawn mower! I've been in contact with them and all I get back is to take it to some shop in Toronto (I live in Whitby) I'm 78 years old with a physical disability and certainly not capable of carting this thing back and forth, you would think that Ryobi would have a person who could come and check it out! Maybe BBB might be a avenue to explain to them about my problem. Hopefully someone with some experience in customer relations will read this and remedy my problem!

Two Year Old Ryobi 3 in 1 Self Propelled 21 “ Mower

I have a two year old Ryobi 3 in 1 self propelled 21” lawnmower This would be my third season with the mower. The first year, no issues. Loved it like I have loved all of the other Ryobi yard and garden tools I have purchased. Then last year, year two, the self-propel part of the lawn mower stopped working. It would work initially, at the start of a mow, but within 15 minutes the self propel would stop working and would kill the motor. I could restart the motor, but not the self propel (every time I tried to engage the self-propel it would kill the motor) so I would have to push the mower to complete the cut. So I contacted Ryobi. After much back and forth I was given the option of sending the mower to a repair center in a box they would provide, through UPS if I remember correctly. All I needed to do was box it, get to UPS, and wait for the mower to be repaired and returned. Or…..I could drive 75 miles (one way) to the closest repair center, drop it off, and wait to be informed when it would be repaired and available for pick up. I asked the agent with the company that handles Ryobi customer assistance which of my options would be quicker. I have no back up lawn mower, He said dropping it off would be quicker since you weren’t adding the time required when mailing and returning, so off I went to the repair center. It took five weeks to repair. The service center said they were waiting on a part. So for five weeks I rented, when I needed one, a lawn mower through Home Depot, at my expense, to cut the grass. I was finally informed the mower was ready and I drove the 150 miles around trip to pick it up, I used it once and it worked like it did when I first bought it. The second time, and since, the self-propel……doesn’t. Same issue. So earlier this week I got mad while pushing the self-propel lawn mower through my lawn (less than half acre) and decided to start the whole communicating with Ryobi’s customer service department thing. Was told there was a process when it comes to product issues that they follow. This year I was asked to video the lawn mower not self propelling and send the video for their review, That’s where we stand currently. My experience is Ryobi has very nice people in their customer issues department but they do nothing to back up their product. Obviously, I have been very patient. I have followed, up to this point, the Ryobi “process” of dealing with unhappy customers with product issues. I won’t be driving to a repair center or boxing the lawn mower up to mail this time.
Follow-up: Ryobi has offered to replace mower with a second generation version. That restores most of my faith in Ryobi. I really liked all of the Ryobi products I had previously purchased and still use most of them today. We will see if the replacement comes through.

I just purchased my 5th Ryobi tool

I just purchased my 5th Ryobi tool. Lawnmower great, I snow blow my own drive and 10 neighbor sidewalks on a single charge, leaf blower fine. Just purchased edger and chainsaw. Such great luck with other tools I would not look at another brand.

I bought a gas Powerwasher a month more…

I bought a gas Powerwasher a month more than a year ago, the water compressor leaked at first used I called Ryobi for Repair and they gave me the name of a company to take it to, and I did. I took it in 2 weeks later I was called and told Ryobi sent a replacement under warranty. Brought it home set it up and the entire machine was coated in oil, did NOT work, took it back and RYOBI refuses to acknowledge any communication between the Repair company and my self. I Bragged about this brand and now am so disappointed after a $400. Loss, that I may have to move to another brand

I purchased a cordless lawn mower with…

I purchased a cordless lawn mower with free strimmer. It arrived and I unpacked it had difficulty assembling it. Called customer support all they said it was easy clearly thinking a woman could put a screw thru a whole. I had spare black semi circular peice which didnt sppear in the manual. Called again and was told this should be put on the back wheel for height adjustment. I queried this. A friend came over and managed to work out it had been shipped with the handles the wrong way around. He had to strip the ŵhole unit down and reassemble. Still didnt know what the peice of black plastic was for customer service said it should have been installed before shipping and passed me over to another department to arrange collection. Kept on hold until I gave up and put the phone down. Then my friend spotted the stimmer manual and asked if I had one. We then discovered that this piece of black plastic was for the strimmer!! It had been so badly packed it was not clear that they were together. The trouble shooting diagnostics of customer service was non exhistant. I have assembled many mowers in the past with no difficulty. NEVER again bad service, sloppy packaging and little more than plastic I dont expect it to last like my Bosch. Good persuasive adverting though.

Got a tire inflator as a gift about…

Got a tire inflator as a gift about three months ago and went to use it for the first time and it is smoking from the motor and I called Ryobi to try to get some customer support and was told there is nothing they could do without a receipt. Now who keeps the receipt on a $30 tool? Plus it was a gift. I had a similar issue a few years back with DeWalt drill and I called them in the next morning. I had a new drill at my doorstep. No questions asked so that’s the difference between a good company and a poorly operated company in my opinion. They had a chance to keep me as a customer and failed.

Customer service needs work!

My last Ryobi battery mower lasted 10 years! The mowers are great for residential use, however, the customer service needs work. I recently ordered a new mower. It was missing an owners manual & 1 bolt to attach the electronics handle to the machine. Home depot was zero help & Ryobi customer service said I would have to go thru Home Depit to get Ryobi replacement bolt. Period. They just didn't care that my new mower had a missing bolt. Sad.
