The Rok Crema Plus and Dosing Funnel

Ordered the crema plus kit and the dosing funnel

First the crema plus kit:
I love drinking espresso but dont want to delve in things which take to make a barista level espresso. Just from average home espresso drinker point of view.
It performs its function very well which is producing crema on my espresso even with a coarser grind. 2nd thing for me is the option to use less coffee (< 16 grams)for a shot. With coffee beans I now use, 16 gr is way to strong for me. The crema plus gives me the option to use less coffee grind and therefore adjust the taste of my espresso without losing the characteristics of an espresso. Due to less coffee I use for me it is also economical. With the normal portafilter my espresso would have been too "weak" for lack of better words.

A minor letdown of the crema plus is the metal wire to keep the filter in place. In my opinion it is not strong enough to keep itself and the inner filter in place. The included disperser feels like plastic and because of frequent exposure to hot water I doubt its durability. Time will tell.

The dosing funnel:
It does fit on the original portafilter but not on the crema plus due to its uncurved edge/rim of the filter.

Overall the addition and benefits of the crema plus outweight the minor downside.I use the crema plus kit more often than the regular portafilter.

Fantastic....absolutely fantastic

Fantastic....absolutely fantastic. This little device is easy to use, feels really sturdy and well built. Perfect for travel even. I bought this as a gift for my partner who is an absolute coffee nut. After, they had the first cup it was love. Straight out of the movies.

All seriousness, this is perfect with its easy to use operation and a quality bean. You can make a perfect 2-3 oz shot at home. I also like the fact that it has a 10 year warranty. Good luck finding any coffee device with a 10 year warranty. Highly worth the money not question.

Really impressed with the GC Conversion Kit, it's updated out older press making the shot-pull smoother and stronger. Not enough companies are offering this type of upgrading to older products - well done! Delivery, packaging and online fitting instructions all great.

First class product

First class product. I originally bought a Rok GC second hand, but have since bought the extra pressure basket and the grinder. These three bits of kit save £1000's on commercial grade equipment but give that smooth espresso texture and flavour. Could not recommend highly enough. Customer service and delivery is also really speedy and helpful.

I ❤️ ROK

We love our ROK espresso maker. We decided to get another portafilter, as our handle had broken. The new portafilter handle is much stronger, and the whole thing seemed to seal better on the press, and it worked beautifully.

Sent multiple emails inquiring as to order status. Order took almost a month to ship, then the shipment was held up for reasons never made clear to me. No responses from ROK, tried various email addresses. The emails didn't bounce, they simply didn't respond. Shipping company was finally the one to get back to me. At time of writing this, their "help" page is still just a blank page.

The product itself is nice, the service not so much.

Broken and replacement bayonet ring

With the new espresso making coffee container that works for normally ground coffee, the increased pressure took 2 weeks to break one lug of the bayonet seal ring underneath. Slight health and safety issue on that point - the almost boiling water spurted out under pressure..... However the new part was easily found on the website (strangely the Australian version was the first to show), and while the shipping cost more than the part, when it arrived I could see that it had the area that had broken now reinforced with an extra rib. Simple but good design innovation - O was clearly not the first to whom this had happened. Changing it over was easy, and I am now happily back drinking Rok espressos.

Great service but disappointing “up”grade

Rok coffee press is blisteringly good: had it for over 8 years I guess and experimented with coffees and methods. New RG plunger has been a much easier press, but produced weaker, cooler coffee and noticeable water residue in the tank. Checked the seals and re-fitted the whole unit, but I’m back to the original plunger and much happier. Note - horrifically I take sugar! And settled on Lavazzo Rosso!
