Perfect option for us

A perfect solution for a smaller budget. We were very happy with our little Yaris - clean, in good condition and perfectly reliable during our little trip. Customer service was excellent - always very responsive, friendly, flexible and helpful. Thank you so much - we fully recommend you :)

Great service and price

rentawreck was the only car hire company in Kristiansund that would deliver a car to our ship. Excellent service - car delivered on time and upgraded to BMW too. They also collected the car from the passenger terminal on time too. Great price and service. Very communicative during the booking process.

Warning

Warning! Do not rent from here!

Tried to rent a car from their Oslo location (BICO BIL AS). It was the most unprofessional operation I have ever encountered.
The car was in an undriveable state and was returned after calling their emergency line twice. We had to rent from a different company. However they still charged me for the rental and did not answer my emails when I tried to get my money back. When I finally got a hold of them on the phone the person said he wasn’t in the office and couldn’t help me at the time…

The car was fitted with an unoriginal oil pressure sensor that was faulty and went off every five minutes and instructed us to stop immediately, the cabin smelt of gasoline, the battery cover was open and lay on top of the motor so that it was melting, the wiper fluid container was open, the windscreen was cracked, the window between the cargo hold and the cabin was loose and the car was filthy.

This company should not be in business. Take your money elsewhere!

Cheap fees, nice and collaborative staff

1. Cheap and affordable fees
2. We arrived at Evenes airport at 10 pm. We were not sent the sms with the code to open the keybox, called the assistance number and found that there was not a car ready for us, despite the reservation we paid for shoud have been registered. Anyway, the employee at the phone was nice and collaborative, assigned us another available car and opened the keybox for us.
2. Our car had ignition issues when it was very cold (i.e. -12 Celsius degrees). As we planned to spend the last days of our trip in Swedish Lapland, where in February are -20 Celsius degrees, we called the assistance again to ask for help. The employees proposed to swich our car with another one with better performing features: they were super kind, gave us an appointment at the airport, and we switched the cars. In Lapland was so cold that we would have never made it with the first car! Satisfied customers, I would recommend this company to other clients

Didn't had my booked car, got some wreck from 1996

To get room with all luggage for me and my pregnant wife I booked a van through "Rent a wreck" in Narvik. Instead if giving me what I booked, they told me that there had been some error on the homepage, and they hadn't the car I booked. Instead, I got a REAL wreck! A TINY car from 1996, with broken or sluggish power steering, making a lot of squealing and gnashing sound, no working central locking and barely space for our luggage. My wife had so sit very tight to get space for the luggage

No excuse at all from the company, no discount (but I payed the small car fee instead of the fee for the one I booked).

Extra comment:
Four hours AFTER I have got the old tiny wreck I was driving out of the city, I got an SMS from the company that they had a bigger car. I also got an email. I don't use to read my emails och SMS while driving and even if they had called (which they didn't!), it was too late for changing. All vacation planning would have been ruined.

And I have got an invoice by mail, demanding me to make some complicated IBAN bank transfer, instead of just letting me pay by VISA payment.

Rent-a-wreck Gardermoen

I could have rented from Avis, Hertz, Europcar, or any other company and pay the same/maybe even less for a better experience. Because they charge you many hidden fees and they ask you to pay more than what you are supposed to and on top of it all every hidden fee has an extra "25% VAT price". And the car itself was delivered with cracks in the windshield, making it close to illegal to drive the car given.

Terrible company, will never use them again.

Abusive charging and low customer service

Disclaimer:

We, with my friends, rented from RentAWreck many times and were happy with their service. It always was a nice, friendly Swedish girl who gave us a car. We had no issues and an amazing experience up until today!

Recently we rented the car and were late on delivering it as we were stuck in a traffic jam due to road repairing. From this story begins.

Taking the car:
We took a car and met with a different girl she was rude when communicating, and it was written on her face "I hate you all, my job and everything around" when we asked why the air-conditioner doesn't work, she said that not all cars have air-conditioners working. Ok, fine, driving then.

Trip itself:
We knew that we need to drive more than 300 km as we booked, but as other agents told us many times, it's always better to book less and pay as much as you drove. We drove 400km+. Most of these kilometers were unplanned as part of the road was closed specifically on that day with no prior notification.

End of the trip:
We were stuck in a jam but were thinking, what was the point of calling an emergency line on Sunday if we aren't in the car accident or anything? We pay for as much as we drove and extra hours. As we arrived, we had the same rude lady welcoming us. What a great end of the trip!

The invoice:
We got the invoice, and suddenly we had to pay almost 3000 NOK, 3000 NOK Carl! for less than 4 days!!! Not expected 1500 NOK.

They charged us an extra day for 1000 NOK and charged an extra 100km+ we did, not including in already insane 1000NOK (the 100 km in here definitely should have been included).

We called and kindly asked what is happening, and they said we charge you an average price for the car +20% as we had to book it for you, and you didn't book online. Also, they had this charge for 100km+ and windshield liquid! When we started being angry on such hidden charges, some not clearly stated in the contract, we got misinformed/not informed on all of that we started arguing as a response we got "You are taking my time. Write us an e-mail".

It isn't ended story, BUT we rented here because of the okay service and people we liked working there. We never had issues with them, and prices have always been relatively low. What we got this time: unfriendly people, low-quality service, rude and unprofessional support, misinformation/not being informed, hidden costs not clearly stated in the contract, double-charging, and the feeling of being raped and blamed. As they said during the call: "It was all your fault, pay for it".

I will post an update if we get any comments on that, but until then, I would never/ever recommend using this car rental even when prices sound better than in other places.

Too Good To Be True. A Lot Of Hidden Costs!

Can't find this company in TripAdvisor. And in Google, nobody rates them yet. I think this is the reason why they can play around, cheat you but not to bear the consequences. There's no proper channel for people to put down their reviews. I read in TripAdvisor there was also someone who got scammed with Rent-A-Wreck in Oslo. I guess this person shared it in a forum because there is no Rent-A-Wreck own page to review in TripAdvisor, hence I created this room for people to share their experiences.

Beware and be careful.

When I browsed through prices of all those common rental car agents SIXT, AVIS, EUROPCAR etc I found that this local company called Rent A Wreck gave the best price, it's almost like 1/3 of the prices offered by the others.

Well, there's a lot of hidden costs and they STEAL MONEY from you.

1. They asked you to put a deposit up to 3000 NOK when you want to take your car. I understand sometimes there will be a deposit required for certain services but unfortunately for Rent-A-Wreck, it was actually a way to steal your money from the amount that was blocked on your card earlier. This amount was also not mentioned clearly on their website. You will only know about it when you want to pick up your car.

2. They informed me that only the first 100km is included, which is fine for me but when I returned the car, I questioned should any document signed by me and them (as an agreement to release from both parties with satisfaction) they informed me "None". That was weird. Then when I reached home I received a bill with more mileage than that I have used. Scam.

3. They gave me an online contract when I booked earlier with the breakdown of each the items and its final price (except extra from the 100km that is allocated). Suddenly when I reached home, I received a bill that included a few more items that were not mentioned in the contract that they gave me earlier. I even argued about the road tax charge, but they just dismissed my complaint.

4. Now, I understand there will be certain things that cannot be included in the contract at the beginning stage for example speed trap tickets, road tolls etc as you will only know these afterward (which I am willing to pay if any). But it seems that Rent-A-Wreck abused the small clause in the contract where it stated "other cost" and suddenly include a lot of items that were not put during the booking process. All of these items were not related to "on road issues" and should have been made clear to customers during the booking process. One of the examples I had mentioned up there, which is the "road tax". There were a few more.

5. After you left the country, they include all of this things and then just send you the final bill. They simply charged from the 3000 NOK blocked amount in your credit card earlier and end up the price is way more expensive than the rest of car agents that you found earlier.

I made an online police report. But what can you do? You already left the country. Just be careful. Go with the common car rental companies that have a good reputation.
