Poor customer service

I had my windows on my composite door boarded - not cheap. The man boarded one of the windows that wasn't smashed. When I called I was told to go buy silicone remover and remove the board myself.

The living room window was also boarded (one side) so the glass was still falling in my room.

When I called to explain this I was told to email a complaint and that the extra window was boarded for security ???

Rapid secure were called to secure my brothers door, instead of boarding the section of door that was damaged they screwed the MDF into the FD30 fire rated door frame and caused further damage which wasn't necessary, I then had to drive 2 hours to fix the issue they had caused.

Originally when my brother returned to the property he was unable to enter due to frame being boarded and not the door which meant he was unable to gain access for some time.

Unfortunately my brother passed way unexpectedly a short time later and I was unaware an invoice had been sent to his property, by the time I had received the letter a number of days had passed, I made contact with Sue and informed her of the situation and asked if this could be put on hold until probate was granted, most concerning was the response indicating that if I wish to take this course of action I would need a solicitor to make contact with Rapid secure, as the legal representative of my brothers estate I did not feel this was a justified course of action.

I requested they explain what legislation or procedures indicated this course of action but they were unable to provide any further information, which led me to the conclusion this is either through incompetence or dishonesty, either way it’s incredibly unprofessional.

I did try and contact rapid secure by phone but could only get response by email, which further highlighted my position.

I had no choice in using this company but I would urge others to approach with caution, I’ve provided feedback to the original requestor so they can find somebody else next time.

Very poor service at a very high price

On the 7th June my brother-in-law died at home. The police and ambulance service attended as the death was unexpected.
The police called my wife, in connection with his death and asked her if she would like the property to be secured as they had, had to break the door down to gain access. She replied that she would like the property secured.
The police did not mention that she would have to pay for the property to be secured, and therefore no amount of money was mentioned.

It transpired that Rapid Secure were called out by the police to carry out the work.

We received a bill for £246 (incl VAT). Considering the standard of the work this an exorbitant amount to charge.
A piece of chip board was attached to the door with 8 regular screws (not security screws). This would have taken no more than 20 minutes.
The fact that the property was burgled three days later on the 10th June is testimony to the very poor standard of work. The burglars simply took the screws out and removed the chip board and climbed through the hole. The door was far from secure.

Emergency call out charges range between £100 and £120 and materials would not cost more than £10, so a bill for £130 (+VAT) would have been more appropriate, particularly as the standard of work was so poor.

We will never use Rapid Secure again, they provided an inadequate service for a high price.

Closed but not secure

Called out through the police after a break in. Came within a couple of hours. Had to pay £288 over the phone before they would book the call out. Ok, that’s the procedure so nothing to talk about there. The police said how they should secure the door by inserting a piece of wood in place of the glass and it will be as secure as glass. The guy came out, did his stuff and left in about 20 mins. All he did was close the hole by pushing a couple of bits of old painted wood into the frame and screwed a piece of wood onto it with 6 screws. Two of the screws went into nothing with one that went on an angle and through the edge of the window frame. We had to get the glazing company to come and secure the door properly the next day. They inserted a piece of wood in place of the glass which cannot be taken out from the outside. It took him 20 seconds with a drill to take off the original wood and gain access to the property. We feel that Rapid Response took advantage of the fact that we needed emergency closure. Had they done the job correctly in the first instance we would have given a five star no problem. As it stands we wouldnt use them again.

Unsatisfactory service

Small glass door panel boarded up by Rapid secure to a very poor and dangerous standard leaving large screws sticking out at eye height of the 2 small children present.
Employee reluctantly returned to property to make the job safe after I stopped him pulling away in his van after a short period of time at premises.
I do not feel board up was not left as secure as it could have been with a little more effort, one small board used on Inside property only.
I had to finish the job myself to properly secure premises satisfactorily
staff seemed disinterested in complaints when phoned.
E mail complaint resulted in ( first name removed from review after objection by Rapid secure) apparently satisfied that screws were made safe after being requested to but did not address the issue of employee being prepared to leave the board up in that condition if he had not been asked to.
E mail reply from Rapid secure states:
"If further securing is required that is the responsibility of the owner/occupier to have carried out." Surely following the attendance of a board up service charging charging hundreds of pounds further simple securing should not be required!
"Contractors do not double board a door or window but carries out an emergency temporary securing only"
Staff also confirm that they cannot remove any broken glass.
Not the best service and not good value for money. INMHO

Profiting from peoples misery. Rude and insensitive.

Threatening to take my dead mother to court because she hasn’t paid the invoice that they issued to her after the police called them to ‘secure’ her property after the coroner removed her dead body. They were fully aware the homeowner had passed away and that was why the property needed securing so not sure why they would issue the invoice in her name and then threaten to take her to court. To be clear, I am willing to pay but while there is an open inquest I can’t. I’ve spoken to 3 members of staff there and the first two were incredibly rude, argumentative, and confrontational. One man told lie after lie when we pointed out he was contradicting himself. The first correspondence from them was the threatening court letter that states numerous attempts have been made to collect payment which is an outright lie.
Also, the job they did was atrocious they ‘secured’ the property with a lock that doesn’t match the replacement keys they left with the police. Meaning we need to have the lock replaced again! Which they conveniently offered to do for a further £250 - good scam to do a job so bad you need them to come out and redo it at a further cost.
