Easy one-stop shopping for European trains

It was very easy to set up my account, investigate routes and prices, and buy tickets from multiple train operators in three different countries. Then I downloaded the app, and presto, all my tickets were right there.

Misleading website info

I purchased tickets for two legs of travel and thought I had paid for the right to make changes. But when I sought to do so, I was advised the tickets on the second leg were non-refundable. And to purchase new tickets I had to pay a booking fee, even though the website implied you only have to pay once, even if plans change. And of course you make it impossible to talk to a person to address these kinds of problems. I have traveled the world for decades. So I know what I am doing. Hence one star for a very bad experience.

After reviewing your booking, we can confirm that you purchased semi-flexible tickets for one leg of your journey and non-flexible tickets for the other. The exchange and refund conditions for each ticket are set by the rail carriers and are displayed throughout the booking process, from the journey search results through to the basket before payment, allowing customers to review the applicable conditions before completing their purchase.

Regarding the booking fee, we would like to clarify that a booking fee applies per booking, regardless of the number of journeys included within that booking. This information is displayed during the booking process before payment is completed.

We understand your comments regarding customer support and recognize that having access to assistance when plans change is important. As part of our global support strategy, and due to a limited number of consultants covering multiple time zones, we no longer offer phone support. We continue to provide assistance through email and live chat, allowing our teams to offer efficient, trackable and consistent support to customers worldwide.

Seat assignments are managed directly by the rail carrier's reservation system and are allocated based on availability and the carrier's own seating policies. As a distributor, Rail Europe does not control seat assignments and is unfortunately unable to change them once they have been issued.

After reviewing your booking, we can confirm that your tickets were issued in First Class, as clearly indicated on the tickets themselves. While we understand that certain seating locations may not always meet passengers' preferences, the seat assignment does not affect the class of travel purchased.
