This was my second total hip replacement, so I was more aware what to expect this time around albeit at a different hospital. What I perhaps wasn’t expecting was just how friendly, caring and even... See more

I had a very good experience with my midwife Jane Rivero. She was very kind, friendly, and made me feel comfortable from the beginning. She listened to me carefully and explained everything clearly, which helped me feel calm and confident. I really appreciate her support and care. Thank you so much for your kindness.

I would NOT recommend practice plus. Went as a private patient as I thought (wrongly) it might be quicker than NHS.
I have had to constantly chase for blood test results (wrong bloods taken first time around) then second time appointment cancelled the day before as results not back….and still aren’t!!!! It’s been shambolic. Gone back to my local doctor (NHS) who is sorting everything for me!!!
Bottom line. If you are looking to have anything done quickly due to being in a lot of pain Stick with NHS!!

The operation and care were great and went without a hitch. The reasons I’m marking down are because I had to do a lot of waiting around to get discharged which is understandable as it’s a hospital ward and there are priorities. When I was eventually given discharge papers the paperwork stated that I’d had a hip replacement on my right hip. The operation was actually on my left hip.. which is immediately a pretty glaring omission. I was given profuse apologies and eventually sent the correct paperwork in the post, so no harm done in the long run.
Also disappointed with the aftercare. When I was worried about my post op recovery a few weeks in I contacted the aftercare number I was given and arranged a date for a call with my surgeon. The date came and went and by late afternoon I rang again to be informed that my name had been missed off the call list. To be fair he did call back later that evening.
My 6 week assessment call with the surgeon on 11/3/26 came and went with no contact from anyone at practice plus. This is quite frustrating as I’m due back at work next week and would quite like to know my surgeons opinion on whether I’m fit to go back!? Overall a good experience but aftercare not great for the amount of money involved.

I requested an appointment with an orthopaedic surgeon to review my recent NHS scan to see whether I might need a new hip. He did exactly that and gave me the diagnosis of my condition that I needed. All for £95 and within 10 days after no response from GP services. Excellent value for money. Peace of mind.

My initial pre-op assessment appointment happened on Tuesday, having emailed for the first time on the previous Friday - this was followed up by a phone call on Saturday morning with an appointment, with the first available surgeon. All very impressive.
As a retired orthopaedic radiographer, I was well aware of what I needed. My situation was dire - a widow, 81 and living alone, my pain and disability had worsened over the previous six months to a level I wouldn't have believed possible, in that timeframe. The NHS had bumped me back another six months, with no promises, of course . . . So I had to pay - and I'm so very glad I did !!
Ultimately, circumstances led to a change of surgeon, and I met Mr Abdulsattar, who I had actually hoped to see, on the day of the surgery !
Spinal block and mild sedation were excellent. First on the list at 8am, I was twiddling my toes back on the ward by 10.30am !! The whole experience was absolutely excellent. If I had a criticism, it would have been for lighter food choices on the menu, for post-op patients !!!
This surgery was a full £5k less than Swindon, where I live. so that made it possible for me.
I am recommending this hospital to everyone I meet, osteoarthritis is such an unfortunately common problem, but incredibly difficult to live with.
Mr Abdulsattar, and the entire team, have given me my life back - now in the third week of an amazingly smooth, and pain-free, recovery, I now find it hard to believe how I was, just three weeks ago !!!
Thank you, all, so, so very much !!

The whole experience at the King George Hospital in Ilford was excellent, from the anaesthetist, consultant and all the nursing staff from start to finish.
It is now four weeks since my keyhole inguinal hernia repair and I continue to experience pain in my groin, although I am told that this is not unnatural.
Should this continue after the suggested time I should like to reconsult with Erica , the surgeon, and talk over the results and hope this would be a possibility.
Please note that I have already reviewed my procedure shortly after the operation and submitted it. Kind regards, Reverend Ian Gow.

Very good with helpful and friendly staff from reception to MRI scan personnel. Wife delivery of results too.

Although it was a painful shoulder injection the clinician was very good. Perhaps better exercise instructions for afterwards would have been useful. Unfortunately the injection didn't help but I don't think that was anyone's fault.

Clear and concise communication was replicated by the way all staff members treated me during my visits to the Group's hospital at Shepton Mallet. X-rays were taken as part of my initial consultation and these were the subject of a same day discussion.
By way of comparison current time scales within the NHS system fall a very long way behind.

Excellent care throughout - from consultation, right through to the post-operative appointment. All staff were really focussed and attentive, especially during the pre-surgical procedures - providing a great deal of reassurance. Very good care from nursing staff when back on the ward post-surgery, which I am sure contributed greatly to a speedy and successful recovery.

Friendly & efficient service. I initially went for a consultation but they carried out a preoperative assessment & 4 weeks later I was booked in for my surgery. On the day of the operation, everything was carried out efficiently but in a very caring way.

A really quick diagnosis followed a few weeks later by the procedure. That went well and three weeks later it’s hard to see any marks or scars. I’ve had virtually no pain and my thumb works as it should.

Easy to get the original £95 appointment and with the surgeon of my choice, the one who did my last operation. There was very little waiting, in to Xray then
straight away to see the surgeon where he explained things to me. Three weeks later I was in for the op. In for one night and home the next day where I knew wasn't going to be very pleasant for the next two weeks as it's quite an operation. After that if it's going to be like my first one I feel it has to be worth while.
