Portuguese With Carla is a delight. It's incredibly well-thought-out, challenging, immersive, and fun. You hit the ground running with real-life conversations, and then grammar points are introduced gradually as you go along.

There's a lot of focus on pronunciation (tricky!) and on production of the language, and the pacing of the course is great. There are also super-affordable weekly conversation meet-up sessions via zoom.

Carla, Marlon and Joana are all incredibly responsive too, and the whole project feels like a labour of love — one that is delivered with huge doses of charm and good humour. I can't recommend it highly enough.

Make no mistake about it: Portuguese with Carla is hard work! It is also extremely gratifying, rewarding, and fun. Both Carlin and Marlon are utterly charming and helpful. I also really appreciate it that every unit comes with quizzes, which hold me accountable. self=study settings, it is all too easy to think you know more than you do, or simply plow ahead without really nailing down the material. After I lost my mother in 2020, I was in deep depression for weeks. A friend suggested me to learn a new language to cope with my grieving. I thought it was a great idea. She told me to try Duolingo and I chose Portuguese because of my memorable trip to Portugal a few years ago. Every evening when I started to feel sad, I grabbed my iPhone and studied. It helped me enormously and my interest of Portuguese had grown deeper. Unfortunately Duolingo only offered Brazilian Portuguese, European Portuguese was what I wanted to learn. I started to search on Youtube for European Portuguese lessons and found Portuguese With Carla. I liked Carla and Marlon instantly because of their sincere and intelligent way of teaching. It has been four months now with this course and my study of the Portuguese language has improved so much.

Portuguese with Carla is the best language learning resource you will find online. Carla and her husband Marlon have created a thorough and comprehensive package with an incredible amount of content to take you from the basics of the language through to understanding, writing and speaking European Portuguese. High quality videos form the basis to take you step by step in a fun and friendly way. The course is structured so that you cannot jump ahead but you must complete each chapter before it allows you to progress further which is a great discipline. There are quizzes and tests along the way, revision exercises, pronunciation guides, Vocab retention etc and a members forum where thoughts and questions are shared. If you do get stuck on something, Carla and Marlon will answer any questions you may have. There are also live speaking sessions where you can join other members of a similar standard, facilitated by a native speaker. Throughout the course Carla and Marlon articulate themselves very clearly in English. A thoroughly enjoyable learning experience which will benefit both beginners and more experienced students.

I really enjoy this method of learning Portuguese. The lessons are interesting entertaining and leave you wanting to do more. You instantly are taken to where you left off last time. The quizzes are good fun. You earn play money for your efforts and can spend it to get more content. The concept is brilliant. Oh and I forgot to say Carla & Marlon are great hosts. Entertaining and funny ( in a nice way ) Try it you will love it.

A great resource that tackles the most difficult parts of learning portuguese, listening comprehension and pronunciation. Grammar and vocab are covered as well but within the context of conversation. Plenty of exercises to keep one busy plus opportunities to practice live with native speakers. Love it!

I recommend this course to anyone who wants to learn to speak Portuguese. The focus is in pronunciation and everyday vocabulary and expressions. The grammar is included to the extent necessary. Humor is present in all the chapters. You can choose your own pace of learning and the quizzes help you in assessing your progress.

Great way to learn - The structure to the course is excellent. I have tried other courses that allow you to dip in and out and set your own pace but this one only allows you to proceed once you have completed the previous chapter. I need this discipline and the right choice for me. It allows you to hear Portuguese spoken in a natural way and then allows you to apply what you have learned through exercises and quizzes. Really enjoying it and can see the improvement in my grasp of the language.

A unique course which teaches European Portuguese using videos of life situations, using normal speed conversations. This may be a little overwhelming at first, but every video is analysed down to it’s bare bones, first in Portuguese, then in English, using very detailed explanations and adding further information in an informal and friendly manner. There are tests all along the way and short grammar videos (key points only, they do not dwell on grammar).
After several chapters have been completed you are retested to check what you have retained.
If you do get stuck the team are on hand to explain things further and there is also a forum, where you can read the work of others and read answers to their queries.
The course is designed to run on an annual basis and there is enough material to last a year, if not more!

Strongly recommended! You can clearly see the work that's been put into this jam packed programme with so much to offer from podcasts, to shadowing and pronunciation training, to learning the breakdown of the language, quizzes, consolidation phases - the list goes on and on and at your own pace! Carla and Marlon are there to assist whenever you need it and you can liaise with fellow learners too.

PT with Carla put accent on pronunciation and listening skills which are the most important if you wanna comunicate with portuguese.
The program is very well-thought-out. Classes are not just separate lessons. They are connected in a way to revise and consolidate some vocabulary and expressions which were in previous classes.
A big advantage of this course is that the scenes are natural and not only fixed on one main subject. That makes it very pleasant and fun. Such a great sense of humor!
I recomend to everyone who is willing to learn european portuguese.

If you want to learn to speak European Portuguese then I heartily recommend Portuguese with Carla !
It has great content and wonderful support from Carla and her husband Marlon. The course is very well designed and will help both the novice learner through to the more experienced learner.

In a very pleasant way you will get over 50 lessons of European Portuguese. The difference to those I know is that every lesson has a conversation in different life situations, very often with good humour and idiomatic expressions. The content is then explained in different sections in Portuguese and English, after which the pronunciation is trained and completed by shadowing the teacher. Recently a grammatical section has been added to the beginning of a lesson. For each section and at the end of the lesson there are quizzes, which are rated. I can recommend the course for beginners and for the intermediate level.

The way they teach is the way one should do. Excelente!!!
