Great idea in theory

Great idea in theory. Went to order bags from Nespresso and have to pay £4.95 for postage for the privilege.

Hi Abigail, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. When you order your Nespresso pods, you can add your podback bags for free. Take a look at our website at our drop off service. Alternatively we are expanding our service at household waste recycling centres.

Tassimo Pod Recycling (well, trying to recycle)

I'm trying to recycle everything possible so with a Tassimo machine, I thought we'd use the podback service. Got 7 bags initially from Tassimo I think. Dropped the first 4 bags at our local garage, they took them, but didn't give me any tracking note. Those bags, according to Yodel website last week, are still waiting to be collected, as the label wasn't scanned or activated.
2nd problem, our local supermarket who is advertised as doing this scheme doesn't have any green bags and the person I spoke to when I called just now, knew nothing about the scheme anyway.
Sadly, we all want to 'do our bit' but seems this service has been started without a lot of thought. We will have to go back to putting our 200+ empty pods a week in our general waste from now on as we have no green bags let alone confidence in our local bag drop off 'partner'. Such a shame 😒

Hi June, Thank you for leaving a review. We apologise that you have not had a positive experience. We are working to improve the service and offer more options to get bags and drop off full ones.

We are working hard to expand our Drop-off options; We are currently running a trial with Morrisons. A limited number of stores have bins and bags can be collected at Customer services. It has been confirmed the trial will be expanded to nationwide in the next few months. We are also running a 12 week trial with Costa Coffee where 133 Costa Coffee shops in Tesco supermarkets are now handing out and taking in full Podback bags.

We hope you continue using Podback and support us in our mission, that every coffee pod enjoyed is recycled.

Extreme frustration when trying to do my bit for the environment

Not only is it nearly impossible to get podbak bags at the shops that are supposed to stock them, but if you try to order them online, you need to commit to allowing access to all your social media and contacts, which is out of order.
Trying to get the bags to a yodel store, it doesn’t state that if you filled more than one bag, you only have one barcode and can only post one bag at a time.
FFS I’m trying to do the best thing and not stick these things in the bin when they are eminently recyclable, but it’s getting b***** close to just doing that.😡
Frustrated and angry.

Hi June, Thank you for leaving a review. We apologise that you have not had a positive experience.

When you create an account on the Podback website, it requires you to provide your address, coffee machine type and pod brand. We have never asked for access to social media accounts or contacts. Please could you go on to our website and raise the issue in our chatbot so that our technical team can investigate this.

Due to the Yodel system, it requires that each bag has its own label so that Drivers can check them in to the system and track them. While we understand your frustration, we are not able to change this as it is how Yodel operates.

We are working hard to expand our Drop-off options; We are currently running a trial with Morrisons. A limited number of stores have bins and bags can be collected at Customer services. It has been confirmed the trial will be expanded to over 400 stores nationwide in the next few months. We are also running a 12 week trial with Costa Coffee where 133 Costa Coffee shops in Tesco supermarkets are now handing out and taking in full Podback bags.

We hope you continue using Podback and support us in our mission, that every coffee pod enjoyed is recycled.

Kind regards,
Podback Team

Silly system.

Silly system.

Ordered bags over 6 weeks ago and they still haven't arrived - no easy way to contact the company or speak to a human for support, the Bot goes round in circles. I've recently managed to find an enquiry form page and am now awaiting a reply.
The retailers listed online won't take the full bags and say they don't do drop offs and they haven't been supplied with the green bags to recyle plastic for a long time, just the white bags to recycle aluminium, despite them repeatedly requesting the plastic ones to be sent.
We're left with two full bags of pods (from the original Tassimo order) and carrier bags full of pods because we want to recycle them properly, but at this rate we might have to give up.

It feels impossible to obtain more bags, nowhere will accept us dropping them off and to have them collected, requires printing labels etc, which we don't have the facilities to do.

Recycling should not be this difficult.

Why not Podback skips at refuse centres.

Rubbish service. No kerbside collection in this area. Bags are easy to obtain but taking to my local shop is a ridicolous idea. The bags seal fine but they often leak due to the water remaining in the pods. Stick 200-300 pods in a bag and 25% of the content is liquid.

Why not a skip at our local refuse centre. 1 Billion pods are disposed of in the UK yearly. I will hold onto my ever increasing number of podback bags for the time being but they could well be black bagged eventually as there is little alternative.
