Ordered a UK legal rear number plate and received a plate with lettering 10mm smaller in height than what's required. I was told the height was reduced to accommodate the green ev badge, at no point was this mentioned during the ordering process. The order form still has the uk legal box ticked and the plate has a B.S. number on it, poor qa! Customer services are useless and appear to have washed their hands of it leaving me to order another plate elsewhere. Will never use again.

Perfect number plate, excellent quality and finished to perfection, really elegant.

I think this company is spot on.
I’ve read the reviews and the amount of people complaining about spacing is ridiculous.
You should know your reg. It’s in your log book or your retention certificate, so that’s the customers error.
This company’s job is to manufacture number plates to your specification and whether it’s road legal or not is the responsibility of the customer.
Many people use a totally road-illegal plate to hang up in their bedroom, garage, shed or lorry cab.
There is a road legal box that can be ticked upon purchasing that provides all the legalities at the bottom right hand side of the plate.
In my experience, if you enter all of the correct details you get a perfect plate with good workmanship.

Had plates previously from them no problem, but one become faulty in under a year, now being completely ignored by them for weeks and weeks I guess because I want a replacement. I can't find a social media or phone number to get hold of them another way.

After reading some reviews on here I was hesitant to order from Platesforcars but as they appeared to have the best options for reproduction 1980s plates I took a chance, I paid a little extra for faster delivery and received the plates within three working days of my order (5 days including the weekend) the quality is fantastic and they look great on my 1983 car. They are thick acrylic not these thin plastic plates that many other places use. They turned up well packed in a box not a envelope like other places. I would highly recommend and will be returning for more plates for my other vehicles!

Once I received the number plate I realised it is non-nonconpliant with the current regulations. I have returned the plate as advised by the company but eversince mid January I never received the refund for the plates. Still chasing them for a refund...

As promised I would update my last review on plates for cars I perused this company and finally got my money back after a lot of emails and promises so my suggestions are if they owe you money Pursue them. unless people do this company just keeps taking your money and are quite happy to do so good luck to you all keep hassling them I eventually found a company and purchased good quality plates and good service so maybe in future read company reviews before wasting you hard earns cash

Charged me for 1 to 2 delivery of £10.99, was a day late and package damaged, absolutely useless in answering emails and very abrupt and ignorant in not apologising, keep well away, there are other companies on the net and cheaper and most likely polite

This company advertised number plates as being UK Legal but the ones I received (Carbon effect) are not legal in the UK although they are still available on their website.
I have sent numerous emails and had no response.
Avoid at all costs.

Horrendous customer services. Chase you for more money then don't refund the full amount when you cancel because you've had enough of their poor service.

Site told me the way I spaced number plate was legal. Got stopped by police and told was illegal due to spacing AND it doesn’t have name and address middle bottom footer of the plate.
Took 20+ emails to get any response and then effectively told me spacing was my fault and ignored the point re name and address.
Agreed to refund £10 if I bought another plate but then couldn’t guarantee it was legal due to footer issue. - wanted just refund- was then ignored and responses just said my fault again.

After reading some of the reviews I was a little concerned as to what my experience would be, given I've used them now for several years. I didn't need to worry, my plates were EXACTLY as I'd ordered (I'd suggest peoples issues on here re incorrect spacing are their own errors) and professionally produced, as always. My only gripe now is delivery timescales & cost. The last plates I ordered came next day, First Class Post. Now, it's a DPD delivery with expensive rates and ludicrous timescales for the cheapest option.....and for that serious decline in service I can only give 4 stars.

I recently used the website for this business and placed an order for number plates. Unknowingly, the spacing the website allowed me to use was illegal and I did not realise this until the plates arrived and I was advised by a colleague. I immediately raised the matter with PFC but did not receive a reply until I chased for one. Their insulting response was to say that ordering the plates "does require some common sense on the customers part". They would only offer replacement plates if I paid to send back the old ones or if I snapped them in half and sent a photograph to them - both of which options would leave me with no number plates and no guarantee of receiving replacements any time soon.
This is clearly a business that is not reputable.
My advice would be to steer well clear and find a supplier you can trust and looking at many other reviews, I can see that I am not alone with this advice.

Absolutely rubbish. Ordered number plate pressed metal. Put my registration in correctly with the space after the numbers. And the dumb bunch of.... sent me a pressed number plate with the space after the fist 2 letters lol. 60 quid in the bin

Awful company. After a conversation with customer service about replacement plates they simply began to ignore my emails.

They were happy to reply promptly until they realised I wanted to return the product for an exchange.

May as well have given them £50 for free, no contact number - 100% con.

Will be taking them to small claims court.

Just bought some plates, arrived quickly, went to put them on my car and realised that they are not legal. Due to not having their full correct details on the bottom of number plate and not registered with the DVLA. They are OK for show plates but not road legal in the UK. I'll put it down as a learning curve. New legal ones being ordered.

I had a great experience a couple of months ago, ordered 4D plates, spacing was perfect, letters super,
excellent all round service, so good I have just ordered another set for another car.

What a joke, states UK Legal but it isn't, speedy delivery a joke £11.80 for 4 days should have been 1-2 days, customer service is a shameful statement, no one to acknowledge your concerns or amendment even though I contacted less than one hour they responded day after, when it was too late, BUYER BEWARE don't offer full refunds on returns don't offer free returns service or advise GO ELSEWHERE DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY

Don't bother ordering plates from them!!!!
I had ordered one set of 4d plates and I cannot use them unless I want to be fined by police.
They will send the plates with illegal spacing. No answer to my email at all.
Won't recommend to anyone.

I purchased a set of number plates for my wife’s car as a gift.
6 months later I was stopped by the police, who informed me the spacing of the letters were illegal and did not meet the U.K. road traffic requirements. Luckily for myself the officer didn’t issue me with a £100 fine per plate, which he stated he could of done. Instead he placed a marker on the vehicle and I received a stern warning to get them replaced.
Platesforcars didn’t inform myself at any point that they were not road legal and upon contacting, they could not care less. They tried every possible option, including not answering the question/request at all.
Absolutely poor customer service and lack of responsibility or ownership from a company who claims to be “Europes Leading Supplier”. I will never source plates from this company again, nor recommend and I advise people not to use them either.
