Left without internet

We are waiting for our provider to switch to Pine Media which should have happened seamlessly overnight. However, this has not worked and we are sat waiting for the phone lines at Pine Media to open so that we know whether we are able to work from home today as we are now without internet. They don't open until 9am which is too late to resolve any issues before the working day begins. Im sad to say its a really bad start to our experience with them. What a shame, as I'd hoped to give a local company a big boost and recommend to others.

We’re really sorry to hear about the rocky start - that’s never the experience we want anyone to have, especially on the day you’re relying on your connection for work.

We’ve tried to look into this but we haven’t been able to find any orders under the name on your review. If you could get in touch with our team, we’d be more than happy to check what’s happened and get you online as quickly as possible. You can reach us by phone from 9am, or via email/chat via our website anytime and we’ll pick it up as soon as we can.

We’re a local company and we genuinely appreciate you giving us a chance - let’s get this sorted for you.

Quality product & service

Pine were the first FTTP available in my area and have been top notch since day one (now 3 years in). Easy installation, decent price and responsive support on the rare occasion it's been required. Would definitely recommend, so much so I just renewed.

Sheffield’s own Gigabit broadband Pine Media

Once up and running the ISP and fibre to the house has been fast and much more reliable than previous providers. No buffering when streaming films and fast download and upload times.
The plume system takes a bit of getting used to but does mostly provide good fast WiFi inside the house.
We now have a number of IOT connected devices and have had issues of connectivity with in garage and with a car charger.
The customer service has always been outstanding with fast and excellent support. It seams no problem however straightforward it may be is never to much for them to answer unlike the major ISP companies who keep you waiting for ever and frequently imply that the problem is with you not the complexity of managing the system and wi-fi network.
I can highly recommend Pine Mediaand their excellent customer service.

Fair resolution reached

After having some issues with connectivity we reached out to customer service. In the end we reached a fair resolution- however this did involve a bit of back and forth. Overall I am now satisfied with the service and am glad that customer service took my concerns seriously

We’re sorry to hear about your experience, that’s certainly not what we want for any customer. We’ve checked our records but haven’t been able to locate an account or order under your name, so we’d really appreciate it if you could get in touch with us directly at support@pinemedia.net so we can look into this properly.

It’s important to mention that broadband speed and WiFi coverage are two separate things. Our guarantee covers the broadband service to the property itself, which our team can test and verify. However, WiFi coverage within the home depends on several factors such as layout, wall materials, and size of the property. This is true for all providers, as every home environment is different and may require additional equipment to achieve full coverage.

To help with this, we offer an optional Full House WiFi add-on (£12/month), which allows our team to offer advanced support to optimise coverage throughout your property. You can also use your own router if you prefer to manage your WiFi setup independently.

We’d really like the chance to check what’s going on and help get things working properly, please reach out so we can investigate further.

Pine Media lies!

Pine media blames everything but themselves.
We were supposed to receive wifi from pine media (we went through unihomes). Upon moving into the property we realised we hadn't been connected to the wifi despite paying for these services for 3 months already. We've been told that our house would need additional engineering works to be completed. My question is, was the last 3 months not enough time?
The communication with Pine media has been inconsistent and one way. My housemates who also enquired have given different time lines for the work being completed.
There has been a lack of transparency from Pine Media and I would not recommend to anyone!

👋 Hi Elise,

We’re sorry again for the delay and understand your frustration. As mentioned in our previous response, your address isn’t currently connected to our live fibre network. To deliver your service, our team first needs to extend the network to your property which involves installing new infrastructure that wouldn’t normally be required for standard orders.

This type of work is more complex and can take longer than usual, especially when third-party permissions or civil works are involved. Our team has been progressing this build and will continue to keep you updated as the works advance.

We kindly ask that you avoid posting duplicate reviews. We’re actively supporting your order, and doing our best to bring FTTP to a property that doesn't already have a Full Fibre connection from any other provider.

We do genuinely appreciate your patience while we complete the required works to bring full fibre to your home.

No wifi for 3 months.

They have failed to install my wifi connection for over 3 months now, with no updates given prior to us contacting them to enquire about why we didn’t have connection yet. There is no proactiveness or urgency for our situation, which is completely unacceptable when we have been paying for the service for 3 months. Upon being asked for an update, we are met with vague answers and an extended timeline every time. No substitute or temporary solution has been provided. Would NOT recommend this service to anyone that is looking for internet connection and the bare minimum customer service.

👋 Hi Elise,

Thanks for your feedback, it's really important that we understand where we can make improvements to our customer experience.

We’re really sorry for the delay and completely understand how frustrating this has been. Your property isn’t yet connected to our live fibre network, which means we first need to complete some additional network build work before your service can go live.

In this case, our engineers need to install a new connector point (known as a CBT) at the nearest pole. These kinds of extensions can take longer than a standard connection, as they often rely on third-party civils work and local permit approvals.

Because network build doesn’t always follow a fixed sequence and unexpected issues can sometimes arise during the work we don’t want to promise a date that may change. Please rest assured our team is progressing the build as quickly as possible and will continue to keep you updated.

We wish full fibre was available to every UK home without delay, but in many areas, smaller alternative networks like ours are stepping in to fill the gaps left by larger ISPs. That sometimes means a few orders take longer than we’d like, but the result is a future-proof connection once it’s complete.

Thank you for your patience while we get this resolved.

Pine Media ISP and Infrastructure Recommended

I was setting up OPNsense in a Proxmox VE and Pine Media Network team (Adeel) helped me set up the correct MAC address so their RADIUS server would authenticate my router and serve me a static IP. All resolved in 24 hours during work week. Strongly recommended above the normal providers.

Deceptive, Dishonest and Time-Wasting

I am leaving this 1-star review not for poor service but for a service that was never delivered. Pine Media’s postcode checker falsely claimed my property was “fibre ready” and promised installation within 3–5 working days. I booked a firm installation date next Tuesday, relying on their guarantee. This is classic bait and switch, deliberately misleading customers to secure contracts under false pretences. Other reviews show this is a pattern, not an accident.

Hours later the lie was exposed in a curt cancellation email. The reason given was that “due to the existing infrastructure in your location we are unable to provide fibre to your premises.” My address is either ready or it is not. Advertising it as ready and then cancelling for infrastructure issues is blatant deception. The postcode checker is a fiction designed to trap customers into signing contracts. It is a cynical, time-wasting scam.

There is no transparency, no apology and no personal communication. This company preys on customers, relies on fine print to avoid responsibility, and has a record of missed deadlines, months of silence, and threatening customers with full charges for undeliverable services.

Pine Media is deliberately deceptive. Anyone considering them should take one look at the evidence of their dishonest practices and avoid them entirely.

Edit: Pine Media’s reply perfectly illustrates their skill at blaming everyone and everything except themselves. They claim the postcode checker “allowed” the order in error and that it is the UK’s inconsistent telecoms infrastructure that caused the problem, all while insisting it is not deliberate. Yet their system promised my property was “fibre ready” with installation within days, and only hours later cancelled the order. They claimed to ring me. Yes, a missed called from Sheffield after I sent this review! No personal apology, no transparency, just a narrative designed to make it seem like the failure is everyone else’s fault. This response only confirms the pattern seen in numerous other reviews: misleading promises, poor communication, and a company more interested in covering itself than actually delivering service.

Edit 2: Pine Media has now emailed me via Trustpilot asking for “more details” to validate my review. This is clearly a tactic to intimidate and suppress honest negative feedback. They already know my details and have responded specifically, so this is not about verification, it is about trying to control the narrative and pressure customers to stay silent.

Hi Matthew,

We’re really sorry for the frustration this has caused you—it’s absolutely not our intent.

To clarify, your order was placed today at 9:45am and was quickly checked against infrastructure records. Unfortunately, that check confirmed that fibre isn’t currently available at your property, so our system had to reject the order. Our team then contacted you to explain that we could not proceed. We did try calling you but couldn't get in touch. To be clear as well, you won't be charged for anything by us.

It looks like an error in our postcode checker allowed you to place an order when your address isn’t currently within our service area, and we’re very sorry for the confusion this created. (If you check the postcode again you'll see service isn't available yet)

We completely understand how disappointing this must feel, especially when you were given an installation date at the point of order. To be clear:
• Your order has been cancelled.
• No charges have been taken.
• No contract has been entered into, as service cannot be delivered.

Sadly, the UK’s telecoms infrastructure is inconsistent—while many addresses can be connected, others (sometimes even neighbouring properties) cannot. This can lead to situations where additional external work would be needed before service is possible. This isn’t deliberate or deceptive, but rather a limitation of the current systems.

Our mission is to bring hyperfast Full Fibre to more homes and businesses, and we’re continually expanding the network so that fewer people are left disappointed.

We’re truly sorry again for the inconvenience, and if fibre does become available at your address, we’d love the chance to welcome you as a customer.

I recently had an issue with my Plume Pod

I recently had an issue with my Plume Pod which was only negotiating 100 Mbps on the LAN port. Pine Media support were very responsive — they guided me through troubleshooting, and eventually confirmed my analysis that it was a hardware fault, and arranged a replacement.

The pod was swapped for a replacement, and my settings were restored automatically. The LAN port on the replacement negotiates correctly at 1000 Mbps. At first speeds were capped at ~50 Mbps following the Pod Replacement, but support escalated the case to their networking team who resolved the issue that morning. I’m now seeing full gigabit performance via wired successfully restored.

I've been with Pine Media around 2 years now and no troubles upto this point. I’m very happy with the way Pine Media handled the faulty pod: friendly communication via their online chat, quick replacement, and persistence until everything was working properly. Great customer service and a much better experience than I’ve had with bigger ISPs in the past.

Misleading Promises, No Service, and Aggressive Customer Support

We previously used Pine Media for a year at our old new-build property, and at that time the service was solid. Minimal downtime, reliable speeds, and overall something we’d have happily recommended to anyone in Sheffield. Unfortunately, our recent experience has been the complete opposite.

When moving to our new home, we were repeatedly assured, both over the phone and via Pine Media’s website, that our property was “fibre ready.” Two months later, we still have no service. We have now been given two separate installation dates, both of which passed without installation, and without any proactive communication from Pine Media.

On our first scheduled date, 7th August, two excellent OpenReach engineers turned up and explained, much to their own frustration, that the property was not fibre ready at all. They spent nearly two hours trying to find a workaround, but it was clear that Pine Media had misrepresented the situation from the outset. Despite promises that a new connection would be arranged, we were then told conflicting stories: first that the work would be completed by 22nd August, then later “corrected” to 22nd September. Neither happened.

The most concerning aspect has been Pine Media’s customer service. Every phone conversation has been marked by hostility, rudeness, and outright argument. Instead of resolving the issue, we spent around 45 minutes in total debating their false claim that the property was fibre ready. At one point, when we suggested cancelling due to their failure to provide service, Pine Media insisted we pay the full value of a 24-month contract - despite the fact that no service had ever been delivered.

This is not only unreasonable but, under UK consumer law, likely unlawful. A provider cannot enforce payment for a service that was never supplied, and Ofcom’s own guidance makes clear that customers have the right to leave without penalty when a provider fails to deliver. Pine Media’s stance here is misleading and unacceptable.

In short:
- Misrepresentation of services (“fibre ready” when it was not). Although PineMedia will happily spend 45 minutes arguing this with you!
- Multiple broken installation promises without updates.
- Aggressive and unprofessional customer service.
- Attempted enforcement of an unlawful 24-month contract despite providing no service.

If you value honesty, reliability, or professionalism, avoid Pine Media at all costs.

At this rate, who knows if we'll ever have Fibre or not. I'm sure another company would at least pro-actively try to compensate us for this failure.

Hi Harry 👋,

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We're very sorry to read about your experience so far, and we want to take the opportunity to provide some clarity and reassurance.

When you placed your order, your property did fall within an available postcode range for fibre service. However, during installation, it was found that the telegraph pole originally intended to provide service did not quite have line of sight. This means that while your postcode is generally serviceable, your specific property requires additional infrastructure work—in this case, fitting a new Connectorised Block Terminal (CBT)—before it can be connected. Unfortunately, that extra work has caused the delays you’ve experienced.

We understand how disruptive this has been, and we’d like to address the other concerns you’ve raised:

• Installation Delays & Communication: Openreach are working towards the CBT installation to allow your service to proceed. This was initially estimated to be completed 22/09/25 (we awaiting their feedback today to confirm). Unfortunately, because this part of the installation is carried out by Openreach, we don’t have direct control over their scheduling. The positive news is that all the necessary equipment has now been fitted at your property, so no further internal work will be required.

• Interim Connectivity: We have already agreed to cover the cost of your 5G connection during this waiting period, so you’re not left without internet access.

• Service Credit: Once your fibre service goes live, we will also apply further service credit to your account in proportion to the delay you’ve faced.

• Contract & Consumer Rights: To be clear, we are not charging you for a service that hasn’t been delivered. Your service term will only begin once your fibre service is successfully connected. However, please note that under our terms, if you choose to cancel after service delivery has started, you may be liable for any field work costs already incurred.

I want to reassure you that our team’s focus is on getting you connected as quickly as possible, with fair credit in place for the time you’ve been waiting. While some aspects of the external build are unfortunately outside of our direct control, we are committed to supporting you throughout and ensuring you’re not out of pocket for the delays.

Thank you again for your patience—your trust means a lot to us, and we’ll keep you updated until your connection is fully, live which we expect to be any day now!

Our team will reach out to you today, okay.
