I don’t know the reason but the quality of customer service in general in UK is terrible and is getting worse every day.
Unfortunately, Let Petit Bateau is not an exception !
I recently experienced a disappointing situation with the customer service regarding a courier delivery to a collection point, which I did not request. The expected delivery time was initially 8 days, but after reaching out to address a mistake by UPS, I was informed I had to wait an additional 48 hours. The customer service advisors were impolite, rude, and seemingly careless. Unfortunately, I haven’t received any updates about my parcel, leaving me with this unresolved issue. This experience has led me to the decision never to purchase from them again.
Really bad client service. Petit Bateau UK website is a scam and their customer care service abusive, dishonest and incompetent!
1/ Bad online order experience: I put an order through online. The website responded negatively to my order - rejecting the payment. Therefore I put the order through again, and the payment was accepted.
However a few minute later, I received 2 emails confirming the order twice!
2/After contacting the customer care service a few hours later, I could not be cancel one of the order. I could only do that one hour after the order went through... however when I connected to my account, I tried and that wasn't possible.
3/ The person handling the call was unhelpful and very disagreeable. She wasn't willing to acknowledge there has been a bug on Petit Bateau Website and it was my fault if I had put the order twice!
4/ It's extremely unconvenient as this order is for a gift. I will have to bother the mum of the newly born to resend me the parcel... I'm also away from the UK at the moment...
What a nightmare... so frustrated to be talking to people who are unwilling to help and support their customers!
We were given a baby onesie to celebrate the birth of our child. The onesie didn't fit and when we went to exchange we were told that the time limit for exchanges had expired! As it was a hard recovery presents weren’t opened in a timely manner nor were they able to be returned within their 30 day return policy iy would seem that a store selling baby clothes would have a more tolerant policy.
The problem time and time again is not the product, but the terrible, terrible customer service both on line and in store. In person they are either rude, or very polite with no clue as to what they are doing. Unless its finding a clothes size for you, everything else seems to be as if you are asking the staff to perform brain surgery.... if you need to exchange a size or get a refund, the task seems beyond their capabilities. Returns take an age to process, and weeks to get your money back. Online orders say they will be delivered within 8 days, but always turn up much later.... basically it's all just shockingly bad. How they have managed to stay afloat is beyond me. Such a shame, was such a great brand growing up. Whoever is running this company needs to either go, or do some serious re-thinking on how it's run. The worst experience of all was when a friend had spent £200.00 on me as a gift for baby clothes and by the time she was able to give it to me, the clothes were too small. Petit Bateau refused to give me a credit note (even though I had a gift receipt) to exchange for something else because it was after 28 days of purchase....again, just poor behaviour, zero compassion and I had to give the gift away as I could not use it for my baby.
the WORST customer service EVER. I ordered a marine for 100 EUR, that was never delivered. Customer service is rude and unfriendly and made me send a HANDWRITTEN note to ask to investigate what has happened - interesting move for an ecommerce channel! Now they claim the package has been delivered - I don't know to whom as I certainly never received it - and their comment: case closed. well for me as well, as i will NEVER EVER buy here again and i recommend nobody to ever do an online purchase here. AWFUL.
Ordered online, paid, order was cancelled, but I did not receive my money back. Impossible to get reply from customer service. Bad news, this company
I’m really really disappointed by their customer service! I ordered a pair of pants in size 10 for my son and they are HUGE! So huge that they fit me, an adult. I tried to send them back but I have to drive over an hour to their store or I have to pay to return an article that is obviously defective. Every other brand of this caliber includes a shipping label. Customer service of absolute no help whatsoever.
I placed an order on Petit Bateau site for some baby clothes and everything appeared to be fine at the time of the order and my card payment went though. A day or two later I receive a cheery automated email saying, literally: “Oh no! Your order is cancelled. See you soon!”. On my online account it stated that the order had a “payment anomaly”.
When I contacted customer service to ask about this, they instantly shifted the blame, saying it wasn’t their fault, it was their payment company Ingenico or PayPal, and also it’s all probably my fault. For the record, I have used a valid payment method and there’s nothing on my side that suggested it didn’t go through. No apology was offered for the incident. No opportunity to try an alternative payment method or any other solution before cancelling the order.
If this was my first negative experience with this brand, I would let it go. But unfortunately I have received equally bad service in their store branches before, which I will leave a separate review about.
I’m only giving two stars instead of one, because the response from Customer Service was at least quick (if rude and unhelpful).
Bad service in the Amsterdam store, bad return service, and horrible customer service.
- In the store, they are extremely slow and the system is very old-fashioned.
- If you place an order online and you want to return some items in the store, they will not accept it and you have to post them instead.
- They will not give you proof of return for online orders in the store, and even when you push for it, they only give you the delivery confirmation paper.
- If you call customer service in Belgium, you have to wait so long until someone gets on the line and with that, they are not helpful either.
- If you want to send them a message via their online form on their website, that does not work either.
Simply horrbile !!!!
This is first time in 48 years I write negative review.
I have ordered pyjamas which stated COTTON and lyocell... cost 89 pounds.
On arrival I find out that lebel states 67 % lyocell and 33 % cotton.
The fabric made mainly of lyocell and some cotton. Misleading advertising. Item should be advertised correctly stating main material it is made of.
I contacted customer service...they said yes it is Lyocell and cotton...and I have to pay return postage.
I now opened dispute with the company through PayPal.
I really like Petit Bateau's clothing range, but their online shopping experience is not great. I recently ordered 3 items. I received an email stating that 2 of these were out of stock - yet they still show as available on their website one week later! I have been charged for the 1 item that did arrive, but there is still a pending payment on my account for all 3 items, so I am hoping this will resolve itself without having to contact customer services.
Used Click & Collect but it may as well be Click & Forget. I waited 2 days for the shop to call me to collect my items. Finally had to contact them. Few hours later got an email to say all items sold out and my order was cancelled. Maybe need to work on their systems and customer service.
I’ve purchased something on the 14th of July and unfortunately it was too small for my child so I had to contact the customer service and I’ve been wonderfully satisfied by their reactivity to solve my issue. If I don’t say wrong her name was Chloe and I would like to thanks her 100 times for all she have done for me.
Many thanks to customer services for sorting out my delivery issue and even apologising for me ordering the wrong item when it was my fault not theirs!! A friendly correspondence was just
the boost i needed! Will definitely be buying more from them in future.
Ordered a iconic women’s Breton T-shirt on Friday 26/3. The website estimated 10 working days delivery “due to Brexit”.
I got an email from Petit Bateau that the item was shipped Monday 29/3 and another from Hermes on Tuesday 30/3 saying the parcel was with them. Then on Thursday Hermes tracking said it would be delivered Tuesday 6/4, before I got another email Friday 2/4, a week after ordering, saying it was out for delivery.
The item was as described. I am a uk 12 and ordered a size 40. It’s not a generous fit but I am very happy with it.
Wish there would have been an express delivery option and easier access to customer services.
Poor showing! Ordered a 5 pack of boys underwear and only a 2 pack received. I was told website error and to arrange delivery back for refund! So now I need to go out of my way for their mistake!
Update: after 4 weeks, Hermes delivered my package! Not Petit Batteau’s fault. Problems due to Hermes inept delivery service. Poor overworked drivers*
Quality clothing. Bas delivery services.
Terrible company, customer service is non-existent. Twice in a row my order did not arrive. No shipping details were provided making it impossible to chase with delivery company. Tried contacting customer service numerous times via e-mail and phone number, but received no response. The contact phone number is always switched off. I even contact the French company as well as their head office. No response at all. Never again!
Terrible company with awful customer service. Three week delay on an order and when it finally arrived, we discovered they have sent wrong items. So now we need to go through the hassle of returning this package to get a refund. Companies like these should be investigated by trading standards and shut down. Criminal attitude and incompetence.
I bought my son a yellow mac from this company and was sent a gold one. I was told I had ordered gold one, even though I said that the picture showed a yellow coat and description said it was yellow. I was then told that the description 'Dore' yellow meant 'Golden' yellow (but let me be clear I was sent a gold gold coat, not a yellow one). I do not speak French and I can't believe I am alone in this in the UK, this company has a responsibility to give accurate descriptions of their products in English. I've been made to feel like an idiot, the customer service team have been awful and now I am going to have to pay to return an item I didn't order. I wish I'd read this page sooner- it is clear they have an awful reputation and I now I have first hand experience of why.
