So easy to find on internet search. Within 5 mins had full insurance for all new bikes and helmets bought and on top liability cover and income protection.

Here is me naively thinking that I don't have to worry about my bike too much because, just in case, it will be covered.

However, I always locked my bike with two gold standard locks (one of which Pedalsure gave me). I added an alarm, always attached it to an immovable object, and took a picture of it just in case it would get stolen so that I would have proof. And I've insured my bike for 4000£ + optional extras.
(Really, you could use that money and burn it, lower those heating bills, it would have been of more use)

Now I waited over a year to put my bike in a seemingly safe bike locker instead of my front yard, where another bike had already been stolen. There again, I locked it with all I had, but someone broke into the box and dismantled the entire bike rail with my bike on top. I saw it the next day, pliers still next to the vanished bike rack. I reported the crime, and here was my mistake: I was honest.

Be very careful when reading their policy. It's written in a way you can easily get it wrong, so they won't have to pay for it. I told them my bike was in the locker for 23hrs. They say it's only covered for 12hrs when locked somewhere unless it's your workplace, then it's 24hrs. The joke is I work from home.
They mentioned they would have covered it if it was at a train station (which seems way more dangerous to leave your bike) or less than 12hrs.

So do yourself a favour and ensure your claim fits within their policy; otherwise, they don't care the slightest bit about how f'd you are without your bike.

Or find an insurance company that cares. I'd ask for recommendations, but since my bike got stolen, I guess I won't need it anymore.

Very fair and quick process. But you do have to fill out a form, and that feels like a bit of unnecessary friction.

I am an older lady cyclist, and was in a state of shock following the battery incident, I am not very phone confident, and have not made a claim before,the young lady at the end of the phone was exceptionally patient with me which eventually made the whole process much easier.
