They won't let me close my useless account
So out of no where, after using PayPal for a decade, they decided to permanently limit my account, with no room for appeal.
So I went to delete my useless account because why keep it when the only purpose it serves is for the website to sell my data or get hacked and for others to have access to my data, and it's using an old phone number I no longer use. I went to change it. Nope, not allowed to change it. I went to change the other information so at least if someone ever got hold of it, it would be wrong. Nope, not allowed to change that information either. I talked to customer service and they said I'm not allowed to change anything in this account, and I'm not allowed to delete the account. Like excuse me??? She said if you send your passport, drivers licence, birth certificate etc we MIGHT be able to close it for you. Absolute nutjobs, and honestly doesn't even sound legal.
They also stole the little amount of money I had in there because 1. Can't do anything with the account, and 2. It was under a dollar so apparently I'm not allowed to take my own money. Literal trillionaires can't give me back my own literal cents, Jesus Christ

I'm very angry right now because PayPal has taken it upon themselves to cancel my account. They won't tell me why and apparently the agent that did it did not leave any notes. hmm. However, I know why they did it and they had no right to do it without notifying me. My bank is the problem. They froze my debit card. Because the chip on the card obviously has a problem and I have problems with this card at several different stores. So the merchant canceled my order because the card wouldn't go through. So then PayPal went so far as to cancel my entire account. Nobody called me to discuss it and nobody asked me why and nobody called me to tell me they had canceled the account until I tried to repeat the same transaction with the same company and now I'm going to lose that discount also again. Have companies forgotten that there's a customer behind their business and maybe it would be polite to contact it customer who keeps their business running and let them know what they're doing. I called a few minutes ago to try to discuss this with a manager and of course nobody's available and they'll call me back, well that's been an hour ago and nobody's called just like I told the little agent on the phone and nobody will either.

Avoid PayPal at all costs
I have never dealt with a company that made such a simple problem so unbelievably difficult to resolve.
My nightmare started when I reported fraudulent charges on my account. What should have been a straightforward fraud investigation turned into over a month and a half of phone calls, chats, emails, and hours wasted trying to get PayPal to do the right thing. I was transferred between departments, given conflicting information by different representatives, forced to repeat my story over and over, and constantly told to wait while nothing actually happened.
PayPal's fraud department was completely ineffective. Instead of protecting their customer and resolving the fraudulent transactions in a timely manner, they dragged the process out for weeks while I spent countless hours chasing updates and trying to get someone to take ownership of the issue.
In the end, PayPal didn't solve the problem. The only reason it was finally resolved was because I filed a complaint with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). It should never take a complaint to a federal government agency just to get a financial company to properly handle a fraud case.
After finally getting the fraud issue resolved, I decided I never wanted to do business with PayPal again and attempted to close my account. Even that became another frustrating ordeal. My account showed a negative balance of only $9.99, but PayPal refused to let me use any of the bank accounts, debit cards, or credit cards that were already linked to my account to pay it. The problem wasn't my payment methods—PayPal simply would not allow any of them to be used to clear the balance. I spent over an hour just trying to pay $9.99 so I could close my account.
Think about that for a second. After spending more than six weeks fighting PayPal over fraudulent charges, I then had to spend another hour just trying to leave.
No customer should have to fight this hard to resolve fraud, involve a federal regulator to get results, and then fight the company again just to close their account.
This experience permanently destroyed my trust in PayPal. There are too many better payment services available today to justify dealing with this level of incompetence and customer service. I will never use PayPal again, and I strongly encourage others to consider alternatives.
Robotic and unfair with fees and business care
They charge high fees. Then any disputes that occur, no matter how much proof of purchase, proof of postage, proof through customer conversation that they received their product will
Paypal ever respond in the business's favour, letting scammers get products for free via refunding. WE had proof the customer was talking about the product they received, and then still refunded them after 2 years later when the claimant said they hadn't received it?! Only robots respond and maybe robots determined the case but there is no humanity in this company and alternatives will be used instead, there are so many now to choose from.
