I ordered a desk in May, and only by the end of August did I finally receive all the necessary parts. The whole process was extremely disappointing and not at all worth the high price.

The desktop arrived damaged in 2 places, even though the packaging was completely intact, which clearly points to a production issue. The order was also incomplete: there was no keyboard tray and no cable management hole (which I specifically requested). The missing tray eventually arrived three months later, but it was scratched as well. The repair kit I was promised never arrived.

Assembly was unnecessarily complicated — I even had to buy a drill just to put everything together. And once the desk was finally assembled, I realized the surface itself is uneven. This makes it uncomfortable to use a mouse directly on the wood. I understand it’s natural wood, but larger retailers don’t have these issues, and it would be fair to warn customers about this, especially since many people buy desks specifically for computer work.

The company did offer to send me a replacement desktop, but I declined — not only because it felt unsustainable and wasteful, but also because I didn’t want the hassle of trying to sell the first one myself. Instead, I asked for a partial refund, which I believe would have been a fair solution given the number of mistakes, but they refused.

Delivery also took far longer than advertised on the website.

Overall, the quality and service do not match the price at all. I’m giving two stars out of five only because there was at least some communication and because they offered a replacement. Otherwise, this would have been a one-star experience. I can also see from other reviews that I’m not the only one who experienced similar issues. And while the company does respond to feedback, it would be much better if they took real responsibility, resolved problems more promptly, and avoided advertising delivery times that don’t reflect reality.

Can’t recommend Pastos Co enough. Purchased a sliding keyboard tray from them a year ago, beautiful quality, packed really well and has been a wonderful addition to my work from home set up. Contacted them again recently as the brackets had broken and they sent me replacements within a few days. Wonder customer service, would definitely recommend.

I've had my standing desk for a couple of months now and the quality, craftsmanship and mechanisms are perfect. Everything is really smooth and works great. Johnny was fantastic to order with. Would high recommend to anyone wanting a quality attractive and functional desk.

Absolutely first class service and bravo an amazing table. We opted for a new family table from Pastos. The whole vibe and ethos was resonant with beautiful design, elegance and practical use we have wished for. Also made with high quality materials and from an ethical UK workshop.

After a small but ok lead time, and Johnny was an excellent communicator we just received our one metre circle table with hairpin legs. It must be said, as this was our first order we waited to see how good the table was. And absolutely no disappointment.

The timber has been crafted to a very high level as a table top, furniture grade. There has been very careful woodwork to choose a beautiful grain pattern and the walnut stain finish is lustrous and a statement of a maker with an eye for beautiful design. The hair pins are of the upmost quality sourced from the hairpin company.

It has been a worthwhile wait of about eight weeks for a product that frankly exceeds the low price. The upshot is a wonderful item of furniture for life.

We are going to order many more items from Jonny. He has won or trust and respect.

The table has exceeded the sum of its parts. This is high grade furniture.

Love our breakfast bar and stools. Johnny was an absolute pleasure to deal with. Highly recommend
Will never buy flat pack again, pure quality A*

Johnny crafted me a completely bespoke light oak desk that fits in our little corner and holds the monitor on the shelf. I'm totally head over heels with the desk I bought which may have cost a little more than a mass produced desk but it's oh so pretty and very very easy to build.
There was an issue with delivery but this was the fault of the courier company and Johnny took control of the situation straight away and then it was en route with a different courier service.

Great to deal with, responded to questions back and forth for a couple of weeks before agreeing on the final details and was patient throughout. Always good to deal with and final product is brilliant. Working from home where my space is limited JP helped me combine my record storage and work desk and its fantastic. I would order bespoke units from Pastos Co again.

These guys deliver beautiful desks which are expertly made. Delivery was exactly as expected. Couldn't be happier with the whole experience.

This is a fantastic small and sustainable business with over 90% 5* reviews (at the time of writing) and yet they're rated as less than four because of a small number of low reviews :(

I bought my desk from Pastos Co in March 2024 and 13 months later it's still fantastic! I love the timber, the fact it is recycled, and you can really tell how sturdy it is!

The standing function is also really helpful to me as I have chronic back pain, and the different memory settings make it so easy, I just push 1 for when I'm sitting, 2 for standing, and have two more options for when others use the desk!

Their customer service is helpful and informative, and I found the estimated delivery accurate.

Finally, a year later I decided that the minimum height of the standing desk was slightly too tall for me as a 5'6" woman (my fault for not checking the height from the listing), so I reached out and asked if they had any advice, they were friendly and immediately provided some alternative legs that would fit better. I can't recommend them enough!!

I ordered a desk and bookcase, expecting delivery within 3-5 weeks as stated. However, I had to repeatedly follow up for updates, and the items didn’t arrive until week 9.

When they finally arrived, both had noticeable dents due to poor handling during transit. I was told a "repair kit" would be sent, but once again, I had to chase it down a week later. Additionally, be prepared for extensive self-assembly.

While the desk and bookcase look good in the room, the entire experience has been frustrating, and the damage on the desk is still visible. Wouldn’t recommend based on this experience.

I find it disappointing that instead of taking responsibility, the company has chosen to misrepresent my experience and attempt to undermine me. My order took 9 weeks, not 6, to arrive. I had to chase multiple times for updates but gave them space until week 5, with a routine assurances it would be delivered "next week". The damage was not ‘minor’—it remains visible on my desk. I stand by my review.

I’ve bought three items from Pastos Co, in two separate orders…and on both occasions I could not have been happier. Their customer service, communication and quality of product is exceptional. I ordered to Switzerland from the UK, and it arrived - on both occasions - exactly on the stated day. Top class, and would highly recommend.

I recently had a fantastic experience with PastosCo while searching for a customizable computer desk. From the outset, their response was prompt when I inquired about personalizing a desk to meet my specific needs. They efficiently guided me on what to order after I shared my design ideas.

The entire process, from discussing my plans to placing the order, was seamless. The delivery was quick, and it was evident upon arrival that they take great care in their product handling. Everything was well-packaged, and the included instructions were easy to follow and clear.

The rating and heart of this review lies in company administration and the approach customer service.

By late May 2023, I had concluded that I needed a new desk to accommodate an unusually shaped computer case – and so my story began…

In early June 2023 I saw Pastos.Co on Etsy. I liked their ethos and the site photos did full justice to the quality of the product. The unusual height requirements meant that mine was a custom order and interaction was very good with the company producing a CAD sketch design for criticism, amendment and approval. The design agreed, a custom order page was created and payment made by 26 June. The order arrived in two, separate packages by 26 July 2023.

A manufacture and assembly issue was identified and notified immediately to Pastos.Co and and a solution agreed to rectify the outstanding issue at no cost to the client. A second, replacement set of legs was received on 7 August 2023. These replicated the original problem and an advisory email was again sent to Pastos.Co seeking assistance. No response of any sort having been received, the original supplier of the steel legs was contacted separately on 21 August and a replacement set of legs to correct measurements was received on 24 August 2023.

I have provided all this information as a basis for my following comments.

I have no issue with the quality of the product provided by Pastos.Co. The desktop shelves and risers are all extremely sturdy, well constructed and would serve purchaser well for many years. When I initially informed Johnny Pastos of the assembly issue – there was insufficient width on underside of the desk between the desk edge and the reinforcing cross brace (85mm) to accommodate the steel legs produced by a sub-contractor (100mm wide) – he was horrified, extremely apologetic and undertook immediately to rectify the situation but in doing so only replicated the original issue.

Despite further reminders and telephone messages I have had no contact from Pastos.Co since 7 August. I can only speculate that when ordering the replacement legs an error was made in not specifying a top plate width of no more than 85mm, which resulted in the second set of legs still being too wide to fit properly to the underside of the desk, but due to a complete lack of contact I cannot confirm this.

On return from a short holiday, I concluded that I wanted to make use of the excellent Pastos.Co desktop and shelves, but could not rely on Pastos.Co to fulfil its contractual duty to provide goods which were fit for purpose. For this reason I acted to commission a third set of legs to my specification from the original supplier. A phone conversation with the supplier indicated that the width restriction of 85mm was a non-standard size for the company (which uses 100mm steel plate) and would likely increase the cost. Legs which can now be fitted to the Pastos desktop have cost me an additional £242.

My conclusions about Pastos.Co are that this small artisan company is well intentioned and produces goods of excellent quality but that it needs to review it’s customer interfaces to ensure that Etsy and website messages are viewed regularly and acted upon promptly in line with current customer expectations. Ditto with the company’s phone system – call the number identified on the website – it rings and rings and rings but with no answer. If the answering machine is on and a message is left, there is no guarantee that it will/has be(en) actioned or that you will receive a response. Ignoring customer communications will only sour customer interactions and goodwill and impair perceptions of company reliability.

It may also be that as a relatively small company, Pastos.Co may have production issues during holiday periods, but at present customers have no way of knowing about lead times because the company may not respond promptly to telephone or email/message enquiries and there is no news/noticeboard messaging system available on the website to post updates. The company should be aware that use of social media for this purpose may not adequately cover its potential client base.

Pastos.Co is a good company and I recommend the products and wish it well for the future, but it needs to review and improve its customer experience.
