They have not honoured the package I bought with them

I am really disappointed with my experience. The publishing process was extremely slow, often going weeks or even months between any form of contact. Although my book was eventually published, many of the things I was promised during the sales process have still not been delivered.
Before I signed up, I was assured that my package included marketing incentives to encourage wholesale orders, as well as a press release and an article to build momentum and visibility at launch. None of these have been provided despite chasing.
As we neared publishing, the focus shifted to repeatedly trying to upsell me an additional marketing package – even though I had already been promised these elements as part of what I had paid for. Since I challenged this and asked for the fulfilment of the original commitments, communication has stalled completely.
I feel let down and misled. I invested in what I believed would be a professional publishing service with built-in launch support, but instead I have been left doing all the promotion myself while still waiting for the items I was promised. I chose Pantheon because they are part of Penguin Random House and a very reputable company, and I am very disappointed.

Neutral review.

No completion of my project. I emailed david Harper. We then discussed how I could get my book The Fresh Foods Grand Day Out by Tony O'kill. Out by Xmas 2024. Failed miserably I am afraid. I have no finance now but as its coming up to mayday 2025. I am a state pensioner. Also I may add that I have tried to do it on a kdp file. That Failed as well. Bishops Printers in Portsmouth printered them for me. My big mistake which was to order to many. I have tried my hardest to get an agent. Nobody is interested. I am at a loss now. Very disappointing I must say. That is honest as I can be about part 1 of my first book. I have since emailed pantheon publishers. I got a lovely reply from david harper. So I have a lot of work to do, before I can really release my first book. I tried to pay times to your holding account 3 times. T he bank would not allow it. Then I walked into my own personal account to do the, payment that also did not go through. That is only one reason the engagement did not go
any further. Them funds have now been spent for me to sell my 1st draft. Hopefully that's the end of the review. You do not need to reply as I respect you reply. Thank you. Also the central library in Portsmouth has 2 copies for free. Email them if you don't believe me.

Dear Tony,

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We’re genuinely sorry to hear of your frustration and understand that publishing can feel overwhelming, especially when managing it independently.

However, we’d like to clarify that you are not currently a client with us, as you have not signed up for any of our services or made any payments. While we have not officially worked on your book, we’ve made every effort to assist you informally. This included multiple email exchanges and offering you over 40% off on our publishing services in an attempt to accommodate your financial circumstances.

Unfortunately, without formal engagement, there is a limit to what we can provide. Despite that, our team has done its best to offer guidance and support where possible, free of charge.

Given that no project was started or completed with Pantheon Publishers, we respectfully ask that you consider updating or removing this review, as it does not accurately reflect the quality of our services or the experience of an actual client.

We sincerely wish you all the best with The Fresh Foods Grand Day Out and remain open to supporting you in the future if circumstances allow.

Best regards,
Pantheon Publishers Team

First project

This is the first time I have worked with Pantheon Publishers. Adam Basir, Paul Hayden & team have been patient with me to help me through the process. Having never published a book before I was new to the process, I have learnt a lot along my journey and feel in a much better place to start my next book with them.
Knowing what I was after was embedded in my head and I needed to be clear to communicate that to the team – I have differently honed my skills on this. The book is exactly what I was hoping for and has been received well in the market.
The team were patient and informative and I would recommend working with them.
