Left without Dog Food over Christmas

In December, we had a partial order turn up and so I refused delivery. The company only refunded me partially, telling me I shouldn’t have returned the partial order that turned up at my doorstep just before the Christmas break.

I wrote a formal compliant to them on 17 December 2025 to escalate the matter and it was never responded to.

Not only did I suffer a financial loss as a result, but also had to scramble to find alternative food for the dogs at short notice before the holidays.

I was very disappointed to have received this service after being with them for many years. There are many other complete raw food companies that offer a much better service than Paleo Ridge so please look into them, if you here because you’re considering trying Paleo Ridge.

While I’ve cut my losses and pursued this via Section 75 with my credit card company. I am writing this review to prevent you from having a similar experience.

My dog loves this food and customer…

My dog loves this food and customer service is great. The only thing that spoils the whole experience is DPD. They leave the parcel in view on the doorstep and don’t even bother to knock or ring my doorbell when I’m in the property. I get a notification email to say it’s been delivered. There is no excuse for this. DPD need to stop doing this.

The commitment to quality and farming…

The commitment to quality and farming practices is what attracted me, and my dog seems to enjoy the food. But the customer service is poor and inflexible. I made an error on my delivery addess and IMMEDIATELY sought to correct it - they didn't acknowledge my request in time and basically told me to deal with it (i.e. accept a lost delivery). A pity that they take such a cavalier approach to customer service. I can't risk losing more money due to inadvertent human error.

Disappointed in them since the website changes

I have 2 Rhodesian Ridgebacks who so far have quite liked this food, but unfortunately, since the changes on their web site they only offer free carriage if you spend over £100 at a time or if you subscribe.
This no longer works for us because there's no way I can freeze £100 of food, I don't have the freezer space. I also do not wish to subscribe because we don't want to be restricted to one raw dog food brand. There is lots of other choice out there so my dogs aren't going hungry, but I would have hoped for a bit of a more realistic approach from this brand that we have used for over 5 years.
A customer loyalty rewards scheme might have been a nice thing.
Paleoridge have now lost our custom, I can get free carriage elsewhere and buy the amount I actually need and my dogs are still happy.

Hi Sarah,

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review.

We have always offered free shipping on the hampers on our old website and now the bundles on our new website (bundles start at 8kg)

Our new website allows you to have free shipping by adding a bundle to your order and adding other items to your basket too (something we did not offer on the old website).

We now offer more opportunities to gain free shipping through ordering over £100 of food and via subscriptions too. However, as mentioned above you can also get free shipping when you order a bundle.

We have had a customer loyalty scheme for as long as i have worked here (7 years), this allows each customer to accumulate points with each order they place. These points can be used for money off future orders. You can also gain loyalty points by returning the Woolcool, we arrange collections free of charge to our customers and reward them with points.

Our new website allows customers to gain points in many other ways too, we have adapted the website to be more flexible and offer our customers more rewards including 'refer a friend'.

I'm sorry you feel the new website is disappointing however, we have always offered options for free shipping and a customer rewards scheme.

If you would like more information about what we offer, you are welcome to visit the rewards page on our website or speak to one of our customer support team.

Best wishes,

Team PR

Leaky packaging

I’ve been using Paleo Ridge raw for quite some time, during that time I have sent numerous emails about their leaky packaging but it falls on deaf ears. I have just sent another photo to them of a bone broth being thawed in a bowl which as it thaws totally leaks out. This is unacceptable I find that all their packaging on defrosting leaks and it’s messy trying to get all the meat out of the carton. I also agree with another reviewer that some of their tripe menus are just mush similar to their essential range.

Ongoing issues with stock availability and last minute notifications

I've been raw feeding for some time, but after my dog developed ongoing skin issues (redness, itching, and flare-ups that weren’t fully managed even with medication), I decided to put him on a strict elimination diet. My previous supplier doesn’t offer single novel proteins unfortunately, and that’s what led me to Paleo Ridge.

The quality is great — we’ve only tried the Classic Duck (80:10:10) so far as part of a single-protein diet, and the difference in my dog’s condition has been striking. His skin has cleared up, his coat is glossy, and he’s no longer constantly scratching or licking. His digestion has also improved; firm, healthy stools (hope you're not eating while reading 😄). He also seems happier and more settled overall.

We've had one delivery so far and placed our second this evening. The first delivery was reliable and well-timed, arriving frozen solid and in excellent condition. My only gripe is the lack of a “build your own box” option within the subscription model. Because I’m limited to one novel protein for now, I have to order manually and miss out on the subscription P&P discount and convenience.

Packaging is pretty good — well insulated, perfectly sized, and sensibly eco-conscious. A full box of 16 x 500g tubs fits neatly on one shelf of the freezer, which is ideal. Minimal plastic, recyclable materials — exactly what I’d expect from a brand with strong ethical values.

I did contact customer support regarding the subscription limitations and received a really helpful and constructive reply from Hollie. We exchanged a few emails and she succeeded in finding a solution — I was genuinely impressed by how well she handled it. No canned responses, just honest, thoughtful... human... support. From ordering through to delivery, the whole experience has been smooth and dependable so far, and I’m looking forward to the next delivery.

Paleo Ridge isn’t the cheapest option, but I feel I’m getting premium-quality, ethically sourced food — and that matters a lot to me. The improvement in my dog’s health makes it completely worth the investment.

That said, I do think there's still some room for improvement to earn that 5th star. For example:

1. A flexible “build your own box” subscription option — letting customers tailor their dog’s diet while still benefiting from automated orders and the P&P savings.

2. A simple return incentive for wool liners — my previous supplier offered £5 credit for every 8 returned (there were 3 in each box) and the £5 vouchers were stackable, unlike Paleo. Simple, effective, and encourages sustainable behaviour.

3. A modest subscription discount (e.g. 5%) to reward loyalty.

Each of these incentives contributed to why I stayed with my previous supplier for so long. I only moved because they didn’t offer single-protein meals — but so far, Paleo Ridge looks like a strong alternative.

One final note on the rewards scheme: I was pleased to discover that Paleo Ridge does offer one, including wool liner returns — but I have to be honest, it’s overly complex and not easy to understand or engage with.
For example:

- 3 Points – For every undamaged piece of Woolcool (minimum of 12 to be returned)...
- 2 Points – For every £10 spent (but not for customers in discount groups)...
- Only one discount or coupon can be used at a time...

You get the idea. I still don't understand how this translates to 'savings'... I’d love to see this simplified — fewer conditions, more transparency. Sometimes less is more.

Overall - the food is great, the service has been great, and I’ve seen clear benefits in my dog’s health - which is what matters most. If Paleo Ridge can evolve their subscription options and simplify the rewards scheme, they’ll have a long-term customer in me.

*** EDIT - January 2026 ***

I’m updating this review after ongoing issues with the subscription service. While the customer service (particularly from Hollie) has been consistently polite, honest, and human, the subscription system has proven unreliable, especially for customers who need continuity for allergy-related reasons. On multiple occasions, my subscription orders have:
- Been confirmed as placed
- Triggered “order is on the way” emails
- Triggered courier (DPD) notifications indicating a parcel was expected
Only for me to then be contacted very late in the process and told the items were actually out of stock.
This leaves very little time to react. In my case, my dog is on a strict single-protein diet due to allergies, so failures mean scrambling to find alternative suppliers at short notice - often at significantly higher cost. Not at all ideal - dropping to 3 stars (from 4).

best dog Raw Food brand!

Paleoridge is the best dog Raw Food brand that I have used, and I probably have used more than 50 at this point.
Their ingredients are the best in business: grass-fed, outdoor-reared meat, organic veggies, and some of the best supplements.
Also, the packaging is great and environmentally friendly.
Price-wise I think it's very competitive, a bit more expensive than other raw food brands but due to the quality of the ingredients I believe it's a fair value.
