We used ONP Solicitors as our conveyancer for purchasing our first home, and we couldn't be happier with the whole process. Alex Thomas and the whole team are professionals. They answered all our questions promptly, we were well informed, and always knew what was happening at each stage. They are reliable and trustworthy, very reasonably priced, and we can highly recommend them.

I would not recommend ONP Solicitors based on our remortgage experience.
To be fair, our remortgage did complete on time and there were no major legal issues at the end. However, the process felt confusing, disorganised, and impersonal throughout, and we did not feel confident in what was happening.
This was our first remortgage, so we expected the solicitor to introduce himself properly, explain the process, and keep us updated on what to expect. Instead, it felt like we were passed through an automated conveyor belt. ONP used the DigitalMove platform, which was supposed to show progress and outstanding tasks, but it was often out of sync with reality.
For around two months, we kept receiving daily emails saying we had outstanding tasks. The “tasks” were to download and read documents, which we had already done, but there was no way to confirm this in the system. This meant we had to keep logging in to check whether something genuinely new had been added, or whether it was just the same phantom task again.
When we asked about this, our solicitor said he did not have access to DigitalMove and that the issue was not on his end. So the platform that was meant to make the process easier ended up being mostly useless. We had to ask for updates by email to understand what was actually happening.
Communication was also inconsistent. Some messages came by email, some as PDF attachments, some by SMS, voicemail, phone call, or automated platform messages. At one point, we received a formal warning saying our borrower questionnaire was outstanding and that our case could be closed in 7 days, even though we had already completed it weeks earlier and had recently been told by email that nothing was outstanding. Most of the time, the solicitor contacted me, or my wife individually without CCing or including the other person, which led to confusion between me and my wife.
The whole process would have been much better if we had simply received clear, human updates by email when something had actually changed, as we have experience with other solicitors in the past.
In the end, the remortgage completed on time, but the experience was frustrating and confusing. We did not feel that we could trust the information we were receiving from ONP, and we are unlikely to use them again.

Reading some of the positive reviews, I find them extremely disappointing, as my experience with this firm was very poor. If I could leave zero stars, I would. Based on my experience, my advice would be to avoid them at all costs for conveyancing services.
The lack of communication was the worst I have ever experienced from a solicitor. Having previously used several conveyancing solicitors, this was by far the worst. Their lack of knowledge and understanding regarding early repayment charges (ERCs) and how they work was unbelievable. Both my mortgage adviser and another solicitor had to explain that, because the mortgage was being ported, an ERC would not apply. Despite this being clearly stated in both the mortgage application and the mortgage offer, they still failed to understand.
When the ERC was charged because they had not taken this into account, the solicitor advised that they believed the mortgage lender would send the ERC back to the solicitor's firm so it could be reimbursed to me. I have never heard of this happening, and the mortgage lender confirmed that this would never be the case. I find it very concerning that a solicitor who deals with conveyancing matters on a regular basis appeared to have such a poor understanding of this process.
Communication through the portal was extremely poor, with responses often taking a long time, and at times I was lucky to receive a reply at all. The solicitor also refused to respond to emails, insisting that the portal was the only method of communication that ONP wanted to use with customers.
Overall, I received a very poor service and had an extremely disappointing experience with this firm. There appeared to be little interest in progressing my case, a lack of proactive chasing of outstanding matters, and a failure to provide the professional advice and service I expected.
