Unreasonable Mandatory 60 Day Hold on Funds
I've been using okx for roughly 1-2yrs now and I've had minimal issues so far. Any I did have were swiftly resolved by their easy to reach and quick to reply customer service team.
How today my account was randomly flagged for mandatory review and quoted below is the response I have recieved to my ticket #24697792:
"Dear Redacted,
We regret to inform you that your OKX account has been temporarily suspended due to a recent transaction with a blockchain address that may be prohibited under our Terms of Service.
Please be advised that your account has been placed under a mandatory review, and it may take up to 60 days from the account restriction date, 2025-09-15.
Within the review period, please expect:
no inquiry shall be attended
no information or interim updates will be disclosed
no acceptance of expediting or shorten the process
an update pertaining to your account status to be delivered after the said monitoring period
We may reach out to you if we require additional information during the review.
For more information on the permissible and prohibited activities on our platform, please refer to our OKX Terms of Service.
We seek your cooperation in this matter and appreciate your kind understanding."
This is incomprehensible and absolutely unreasonable. I run a very small business and survive with the funds I make week to week, the funds that have been frozen by okx were meant for my weekly groceries and rent, now I am facing the situation of not being able to afford either this week and a massive disruption from the fallout that will ensue.
While I do understand the need to comply with AML laws there is no law that dictates the period of the investigation must take 60 days in any of tje jurisdictions that OKX operates within.
This seems like complete and utter lazainess and incompetence by the okx compliance and legal team to not be able to swiftly resolve such cases. Instead they chose to punish the users when we have no control over what wallets the parties we trade with use. I can check a wallet if it's one I'm sending to but what am I supposed to do when recieving crypto????
Why are we expected to put up with a 60 day time frame for you to complete your investigations. In the future I will only be using self hosted wallets and I advise anyone reading this review to do the same as when these systems work, they work well. However at any point they chose to they can arbitrarily freeze your funds for an unreasonable amount of time without providing you with any opportunity to expedite the process.
They claim this is to follow the law but the laws only require that they perform and investigation and inform relevant regulatory authorities about suspicous activity, they do not mandate a 60 day time frame for this process.
EDIT: Thier reply is a bs lie, I've been contacting them all day before writing this review and recieved the exact same response. Dogwater company.

OKX is one of the most annoying and stingiest crypto exchanges out there.
Here's what happened to me: I signed up, passed KYC, didn't do anything. Two months later, they asked for KYC again. Fine,I did it again. Still did nothing. Then I decided to deposit some money. They asked for KYC again, but this time it was KYC2 with address verification. For sake, how goddamn annoying can you be? Okay, I passed it. I deposited 1000 euros. And guess what? I couldn't withdraw it for two weeks for "security" reasons. Only casino games were allowed.
A few more months later, they asked for a full report on the source of the funds with tax statements. Who the do you think you are? Most exchanges only require a driver's license to open an account! I'm not even talking about Hyperliquid where you don't need anything at all.
Now, about their stinginess. They launched a copy of Taproot, OKX Racer, over a year ago. And what do you think? Will there be a listing? No, there won't. Because they are cheap bastards, and for a measly 10 USDT they'll make you go through KYC1, KYC2, KYC3. Meanwhile, other exchanges give out juicy bonuses from $20 and sometimes up to $250 in real, honest money, not some fee coupons.
Today they even increase fees,x2. Good move !
And all they can do is "contact our support directly" - youre so st** and dont understand that problems mentioned here will not be solved in support. This is politics/business model

How do i give 0 stars? They never gave me my money back, been waiting months and no communication from them. I eventually had no choice but to do emergency exit to try getting my money out but as soon as i did that they have just closed my account down saying we no longer service in my region, my region wasn't a problem when I was using their services. Now they have no technological support, only FAQ's which don't help my situation. Gave them my support ticket ID but they just said my account was closed down due to breached regulations. They claim to have zero conversion fees yet I’m paying what feels like a good amount of money when I convert, and they’ve got my funds on lock down, & customer support didn’t seem to recognize the deposit I just placed not too long ago. Also oh my god, what else? Terrible tradingview integration, and lots of issues with stop losses.. funds get messed with even after stop losses are hit, and T/P almost seems non existent.
Anyways, I’d like someone to follow up with me, I want my money out of this broker, I’m switching to someone else, I’ve only been using yall for a couple of days and I’m already experiencing a lot of issues.

My experience with OKX clearly shows how unreliable and non-transparent this exchange is.
🚩 Copy trading issue. OKX actively promotes its so-called “top traders.” I decided to follow one of them — the result: the trader entered with extremely high leverage, made reckless trades, and completely wiped out my deposit. After that, his account simply disappeared from the platform, as if it never existed. No investigation, no explanation.
📉 OKX had the right to intervene. According to their own rules, the exchange can cancel or roll back trades if a lead trader’s actions harm clients. They also reserve the right to disqualify dishonest traders. None of this happened: the losses were left on the users, and the trader vanished without a trace.
📭 2 months without a response. I opened ticket #22143524 back in July. It has now been two months, and I still haven’t received a single concrete reply. Every message I get is the same generic line: “your request is under review.” My other tickets are simply closed as “duplicates.”
🤖 Public replies are just a bot. On Trustpilot, OKX responds to negative reviews with the same copy-paste line: “please contact support.” But in reality, the same bot answers in support, and no one actually resolves anything. I have screenshots of all correspondence — it’s literally the same template repeated for 2 months.
⚠️ Other users report the same problems:
- Accounts frozen without explanation.
- Withdrawals delayed for months.
- Funds essentially “held hostage” with no clear resolution.
📊 OKX reputation:
- On Trustpilot, half of all reviews are 1-star.
- In February 2025, the company admitted guilt in money laundering violations in the U.S. and paid a ~$500 million fine.

I never know I was paying huge conversion fees, Everytime I deposit and exchange cryptos.
They charged $9 fee of converting $50 usdt to AED without me ruining in the order book.
On top of it they blocked my ability to move crypto to other wallet and want to force me to withdraw through their bank transfer option with cost additional $75 AED per transaction.

Don’t waste your time or money
Three months back, I tried buying one thousand USDT on OKX P2P. Seller kept pushing me to cancel and reorder after payment total scam vibes. I opened a dispute, but OKX held my money hostage for three months over some nonsense! Their support team couldn’t figure out anything, acting like drunk scammers themselves. I’m writing this to publicly share my troubling experience with the OKX cryptocurrency exchange. Over the past several months, I have faced multiple serious issues that resulted in the loss of my funds, trading failures, and an ongoing battle to withdraw my own money from the platform.
Despite repeatedly contacting support and complying with all verification steps, OKX failed to resolve any of these issues, and in many cases, simply closed the support tickets without providing solutions.
Here are the three major problems I encountered:

📌 1. Lost Funds After Transferring from Coinbase to OKX:
I transferred cryptocurrency from my Coinbase account to my OKX wallet. The coins left my Coinbase account and were confirmed on the blockchain. I used the copy address feature on OKX to ensure accuracy. However, the funds never showed up in my OKX account. I contacted OKX support immediately and provided all transaction details and screenshots. They acknowledged that:
• The address I used was my OKX wallet address
• The transaction had been received on the blockchain
Yet, the funds were never credited to my account.
After this, OKX closed my support ticket — multiple times — without providing a fix or compensation. I had to reopen tickets repeatedly, but each time, they reassured me they were working on it and then closed the case again without resolution.
The funds remain missing. OKX did nothing to make it right.

📌 2. Failed Limit and Stop-Loss Orders Cost Me Thousands:
I placed multiple limit orders and stop-loss orders using OKX’s trading platform. These trades were properly placed and should have been executed as market conditions were met.
OKX confirmed that the orders:
• Were entered correctly
• Should have triggered based on price movement
Despite this, none of the trades executed.
This cost me thousands of dollars in losses, as stop-losses failed to activate when the market turned against my positions. When I reported this, OKX support again asked for full details — which I provided — and then ultimately closed the ticket with no explanation or resolution. They admitted the issue occurred but offered no compensation or accountability.

📌 3. Withdrawal Nightmare – They’re Holding My Money Hostage:
After losing trust in OKX, I decided to withdraw my funds and close my account. I liquidated all my crypto into USD — which itself took far too long due to low liquidity on their platform — and began the withdrawal process.
OKX made it extremely difficult to withdraw my own money:
• They allowed only small portions of my balance to be withdrawn at a time.
• Each transfer required 5 to 7 days to process.
• It’s been over 30 days, and I still haven’t withdrawn my full balance.
My withdrawal amounts are well below the allowed ACH limits, and I’ve passed extensive security verifications, including:
1. Email and password login
2. YubiKey authentication
3. YubiKey passcode
4. Physical confirmation (touching the YubiKey)
5. SMS code verification
6. QR code scan and photo facial recognition
Despite all of this, OKX claims they are “limiting withdrawals for security reasons.”
To be clear: I have never reported any fraud or unauthorized activity. The only issues I’ve raised were caused by OKX itself — missing funds, failed trades, and now, unjustified withdrawal restrictions.

Based on my experience, OKX has shown:
• Incompetence in handling transactions
• Unreliable trading execution
• Poor and evasive customer support
• Unreasonable restrictions on withdrawing funds
If you value access to your funds, trading reliability, and responsive support, I strongly recommend avoiding OKX. This platform has cost me financially and wasted weeks of my time with no resolution.

My name is Fernando, and this is my second post here. I deposited my account with a significant amount (currently the equivalent of around 3,500 USD) and then my account got frozen. I can't withdraw my money back to my bank account in Portugal. I don't know what to do and it feels like OKX just stole my money.
I contacted the support and they requested my proof of residence (yet my account was verified). I provided two bank statements with my exact address in Portugal and exact account number from which I deposited the money. OKX rejected it and I'm not sure what else I should do. I don't want to use OKX after all the recent stress and all I need is to get my money back!
The support person (see the screenshots) mentioned (calling me "dear", super professional) that my account was blocked because I was using OKX from a different region. I did travel recently and my wife lives in another country, also I occasionally use VPN, so is it a reason to steal my money, "dear" OKX?
OKX, I want you to answer the following the following two questions publicly please:
1. Please confirm that using your service from a region different from the residence region (as your support person states) is prohibited and may cause account freeze.
2. Please confirm that, once the account is frozen, the money cannot be withdrawn even though a proof of residence is provided - thus effectively you make these money yours.
Again, I'm a citizen of Portugal who provided you the proof of residence and you rejected it with no explanation. What else PoR do you expect from me? All the countries I recently visited and where I had the imprudence to access your service from?
This looks much like a scum, not a collaboration.
My last ticket number is #6679039, but I insist on a public conversation here so everyone sees how you handle customer issues.
