Transfers to a specific account (NZ to Australia)

Previously I’ve used OFX for bank to bank fund transfers between countries. This was my first time using OFX as a go-between to transfer funds to a specific account in Australia. Online explanations and instructions were clear, along with helpful notifications showing progress up until the funds were successfully received.

Dont Do It

Dont Do It

I feel like the test monkey for this product. It is absolutely disgraceful that this "International" company has released what is obviously a subpar financial BETA product to its customers. I stupidly transferred money into the platform and now cannot get it out. Emails were sent to the customers that they are 24/7 but dont be fooled. If you are business customer then you must wait - wait til 9-5 Monday to Friday. Priority service is only for personal customers only apparently. These guys are pretending to be a bank by offering a swag of innovative business banking products which sound great. What you will get is a low tech solution, with bugs that their own staff cant work through, lose temporary access to your funds and lousy frustrating customer service. If you try and get it sorted outside of business hours then you have no hope at all. I seriously don't think that they have worked out that the international financial sector and international business isnt Sydney hours Monday to Friday. Extremely disappointing and an absolute time suck.

UPDATE 1: After working through the tech issues they still declined the transfer out of their account so now my funds are effectively being held hostage! Terrible!!!

UPDATE 2: After 10 telephone calls (yes 10) we managed to do the transfer. There was NOTHING required on my side to make the transaction go through it was 100% their own system issues and or their staff not knowing how to work through their own system or not putting the right staff on the phones (rostering).

Do not do it!

Appalling customer experience

I was transferring money from Australia to South Korea. I thought the process would be seamless as I had used OFX to transfer money to Malaysia earlier in the year with no problems. I provided all the information required; received a call from OFX compliance and went through process and answered all their questions. The funds were taking a long time to be processed so I called to ask why. I was given an update and thought all was fine. I then received another phone call asking the same compliance questions and more. I understand AML and I had given information that fulfilled that obligation. The questions were intrusive and not required but I answered them. In conclusion most of my request was paid after 5 days yet one amount was not paid for some unknown reason as it was to the same recipient and bank account. It has now been 9 days since I commenced the process. I will not use OFX again.

Only a $220 transfer to thailand was to difficult for OFX…

Only a $220 transfer to thailand was held back for days as they wanted the birth date of recipient. It took them days to notify me. I send the date asap and now have to wait again a few days for them to send my money. No sense of urgency here. Just bureaucratic BS.
Pay a bit more and get it done in a professional way asap.

Excellent Customer Service

Richard Redwood went above and beyond from the start of my transaction to the very end. I had a large order I had to place and it took a few transfers during the course of a few days in which he over sae from the very start before the order was placed, during each payment, and until the very end. I was super nervous transferring such a large amount with. Short timeframe for the sale and purchase of property from AUD to USD but Richard put me at ease at every phone call and went above and beyond emailing me to update me during the transactions. If anyone deserves a HUGE bonus, pay rise and acknowledgement for employee of the year it’s Richard! I couldn’t be more thankful for his help during my move and this transaction. Thank you, Richard!

A lot better than XE but still very…

A lot better than XE but still very slow. No, that would be an offence to someone slow. You are like flies in a pool of tar. Transfer should take no more than an hour these days. Wise, before turning full commust, did it under 10 minutes! However you are on a path to improve further I hope.
