Very disappointed with Nissan – would not recommend
I bought a 2021 Nissan Qashqai from a dealer (not a Nissan main dealer). At the time of purchase, the car had only done 11,000 miles, and it currently has around 20,000 miles on the clock.
I was extremely disappointed to discover that the car has developed a problem with the auxiliary/sub battery, which now needs replacing.
After looking into the issue, it appears that this is a relatively common fault with these vehicles. Despite the low mileage and age of the car, I have been quoted over £1,500 to repair the problem.
To make matters even worse, I have been told that a Nissan main dealer may take a minimum of 16 weeks to source the replacement battery. This is completely unacceptable for what appears to be a common issue.
I contacted Nissan regarding the situation but received no offer of compensation or goodwill contribution. I also found the customer service extremely disappointing and unhelpful.
Based on my experience, I would not advise anyone to buy a Nissan. A relatively new, low-mileage car should not be facing such an expensive battery-related repair, followed by a potential four-month wait for the necessary part.
Very disappointed with both the reliability of the vehicle and Nissan’s response to the problem.

Just had a message about my warranty running out after only three years no seven year warranty from Nissan, doesn’t fill you with confidence so it’s time for £££££££££ to extend it and also have open your wallet to keep the app features, I won’t be doing either. Not confident at all with Nissan or is it Renault no where near as good as the older cars. My last one I’m afraid.

My review is about the nissan connect app for the electric cars. I have had endless problems with the app. Always offline. We were informed that it would be going under maintenance over the weekend and would be back online on Monday morning. It is still offline and now states it will be back online on Thursday 16h00. Not having access to the app interfers with my smart charger at home which means if I charge at home I pay 32p per Kw versus 8p per Kw when the app works. Who is going to pay me the difference for these extra costs? So now i cannot charge my car. I had to charge remotely yesterday but could not access the app to monitor the charge therefore I had to sit in the car and constantly get out and in to check the level, just to mention it was raining. I know when upgrades happen there can be teething issues but this is now taking too long to rectify. I phoned customer service and all I got from them was that they are working on it and it would be fixed on Wednesday but today is Wednesday and it is still not fixed. This is poor customer service. UPDATE I have again contacted nissan customer service only to be told there is nothing that they can do except advise me the app will be working later today. This is what we have been told all week. I have had to charge my car without the intelligent schedule due to my charger not being able to connect to the nissan app. Who is compensating me for this additional costs???? The app has been off for a week now. Why is there not a work around? You cannot expect customers to be out of pocket and inconvenienced for this amount of time. Totally shocking from Nissan. I will never buy another Nissan car. Further UPDATE app now delayed again till Saturday. This is beyond a joke. How am I to charge my car. UPDATE app still not working now states Monday 20h00 that is over a week that this has been off. Surely someone in a senior position at Nissan should be taking accountability and resolving this. Again my question has still not been answered, who is going to pay for the additional costs I am incurring. Please do not reply to this and tell me to contact customer service as that is a waste of time. I have done that twice and all they say is they are working on it. No resolution. UPDATE 31 Aug, app now says will be operational 4 Sept. This is beyond a joke now. NEVER BUY A NISSAN.

I have now been without my vehicle for over three months due to an issue being handled by Nissan Maidstone and Nissan's technical support team.
The required part was ordered and delivered, but fitting it apparently requires software that Nissan Technical need to provide or configure. Since then, nothing has happened. The dealership says the only way they can contact Nissan Technical is through a portal and that they have chased them daily. Despite this, Nissan Technical have not responded at all.
Three months later, I am still without my vehicle and no one seems able or willing to take ownership of the situation.
I also complained directly to Nissan Customer Services. Frankly, calling it "customer service" is generous. They have been unhelpful, ineffective, and unable to provide any meaningful support or escalation.
This level of service from a global manufacturer is shocking. The complete lack of communication, urgency, and accountability has been incredibly frustrating.

My env200 was diagnosed with a faulty battery in January 2026 in Gly Hopkins St Albans they sent my vehicle to fish brothers in January for a battery replacement under warranty told it would take 14 to 28 days replacement phoned every other day then to be told 3 months later they stopped making a battery for my vehicle in 2022 and would have to implement the Nissan buy back scheme 8 months later lie after lie from Nissan customer service Nissan should be ashamed of themselves I would never ever buy another vehicle from Nissan again I now have to take Nissan to court

Today I have written to Nissan GB to take them to a small claims court.
12 phone calls
6 emails
phone calls directly from KAP nissan to them
Ignoring my request , brushing me off as I saved an engine replacement.
NEVER DEAL WITH NISSAN GB. The worst customer service ever. DO NOT BUY NISSAN! its a big mistake.
We bought our Nissan qashqui from macklin motors Nissan 3 years ago brand new almost £40k! 3 years later power steering stops working …. Lo and behold few weeks past warranty. Warranty allows 60,000 miles to be driven in 3 years. My Cars done 20,000miles. Had to take it to Marshalls Doncaster who said £175 just to look at it. Paid that. Waited all day to be told we needed a whole new steering rack and sensors. It would be a 3-4 day fix and a few days to order part! Starting cost £2800. I was told to contact Nissan uk and that they possibly would make a good will gesture and fix the problem as it’s clearly a defect and not wear and tear. I did contact them and been messed about and lied to for a whole month!!! For today to be told oh we’ve just heard back from Doncaster Nissan, we aren’t able to help you as good will gesture, as your services having been done in a Nissan garage. It may be non genuine parts you’ve used. I told him no parts have been changed it’s only had one mot as brand new car! I asked why a big issue like a steering rack should need replaced after 20,000 miles, he just kept repeating wear and tear. Clearly if that’s the issue they are very very poorly made, as I’ve spoken with several mechanics who said this issue shouldn’t happen in a 20 year old car. I’m so disappointed it’s taken them one month to come back to me and pass me from pillar to post for all these weeks !

Been a Nissan owner for 3 years and the service from Nissan and their dealership (Hendy) has been atrocious. Some highlights:
- remote services stopped working - took 3 months, 5 dealership visits and a ridiculous amount of emails with Nissan to resolve. At 1 of these visits they scuffed up 3 interior panels, at 1 they punctured a tyre and at another they returned the car to me with the glovebox hanging off?
- part quality and QC is very poor. I emailed support asking for a replacement to a piece of the front grille which is delaminating. After 3 months of no reply I raised a complaint and was told I needed to pay for a diagnostic at the dealership to see if it was even covered?
Everyone at Nissan and their dealerships seem committed to ensuring you have the worst customer experience possible.
They will likely reply to this review asking me to get in touch. We all know that’d just be a waste of time.

Absolutely disgusting service. Car was collected at end of lease at the start of June and I was told the report would be with me within an hour or two. Despite numerous chasers I was told that the report was not available and the car was still being inspected! Eventually I gave up trying to get any answers. Almost two months later at the end of June I received a letter in the post with a 'FINAL DEMAND' for £308 and referencing that I had the report. I immediately raised complaint with Nissan - several days later I got an automated email back to say they cannot locate my account and therefore cannot do anything with my complaint. I sent several more emails requesting their complaints procedure and eventually I received a letter in August to say I had a case handler who would be in contact with me to get more info but I should pay the £308 immediately to avoid financial penalties. I have been trying to call their payment line but get told I am in a queue and then get cut off or when you ring it simply tells you they are too busy and not taking calls. I have never received such abysmal service. Even to this day, nearly 2 and a half months after my car was collected, I have not seen the inspection report - avoid at all costs.

Booked an urgent recall with startin Nissan powick Worcester .Had the confirmation email and text to be told when arriving at 8am as planned i didn't have a booking!! couldn't even find my number plate on the system .My car is a Nissan x trail. No offer of getting my recall done or apologies. Then told me they could arrange to collect and drop off my car and charge me!!complained to customer services and lodged a formal complaint .Paul the manager at startin called me late Friday the day after my appointment and said he would call me Monday to sort still waiting for that phone call.Ove raised the complaint to general manager now and still no apology or phone call. They obviously don't take complaints or urgent recalls seriously. If something happens to me in the car due to the recall issue I will personally hold startin garage powick responsible .Avoid this garage and go elsewhere. The manager ,the reception desk customer service is beyond appauling

Got a car on pip! Used the assists for all trips for about 5 months and nearly crashed with the assists being the problem on many occasions.
Slams on breaks with car Infront! Stalls.
Sees people on path slams on breaks! Stalls.
Driving on motor way picks up cars beside you and wants to turn into traffic either side of you then the car panics and slams on its breaks.
Doesn't want the driver pulling away at speed and cuts the engine.
I took the car in for checks and no faults were found, even though with 5 people in the car as witness to the worst event, nissan blamed the driver, I was verbally attacked by the manager who blames my driving abilities!
History driver in London accident free since I was 17 now 42 still driving zero points.
Woke left young kids telling me I can't drive properly while their car is designed to crash.
Took off all assists on car and have had zero issues with the car! ZERO!
Also took the car in on a pip scheme which is all paid for and they tried to charge me for extra work! Nissan also told me on day of service it would be done asap! told me the car would be looked at within hours, so I waited waited till mid day and still no response from nissan service! so I was given a taxi home by pip not by nissan! Nissan ignored me in the rain and freezing temps. New I came from Horley on pip.
Without assists I love the car but due to the situation behind the car and treatment I received from staff because I questioned their car was disgusting and I will never be using nissan on the scheme again.
If I could give less stars I would.
My dates are out a bit I cannot remember the exact date theirs been so many issues.
Unsorted.
With assists on to this day the car is a death trap.
It's a trap assists do not work on UK roads and will cost you your driving privileges..

Dear Members of the Executive Directorate,
I am writing this communication not to request further customer service intervention, as my efforts to seek basic professional assistance from Nissan Motor (GB) Ltd have been utterly unsuccessful. Instead, I am writing to place on the official record a damning and unreserved assessment of the corporate conduct, systemic avoidance, and total lack of care I have experienced at the hands of your UK customer care team, specifically through a handler named Shane.
The treatment I have received as an elderly, infirm, and vulnerable consumer living with dementia is a permanent stain on the corporate image of the Nissan brand.
You should be aware of the following specific failures regarding your customer care department and the Managing Director’s Office:
Fixated Prevarication: Your representative, Shane, proved to be completely fixated on avoiding my core problems. He spent an exhaustive amount of time insisting that Car Care Plan was entirely disconnected from Nissan, attempting to distance the manufacturer from a branded product sold directly at an authorised Nissan point of sale.
Corporate Deflection: The fact that my financial refund was eventually secured from Car Care Plan is entirely independent of Shane or Nissan's customer service apparatus.
Evasion and Obscuration: Shane proved himself to be a master of procedural obscuration. When faced with the reality that an unannounced dealership relocation to Cribbs Causeway forced an impossible journey upon a vulnerable person recently discharged from hospital, your team chose to unilaterally close my file rather than face their ethical and regulatory obligations.
To use the brand name of an international company to secure sales at the dealership level, only to employ lower-level handlers to mock, ignore, and stonewall a vulnerable consumer when an operational issue occurs, represents a complete collapse of basic business ethics.
My comments regarding this experience are well-documented, and the evidence of ignored emails and unreturned phone calls remains within your computer networks. I am copying your regional and global customer experience leadership so they may see precisely how the UK executive complaints apparatus treats the most fragile members of the motoring public.
Yours sincerely,
J M Coles.

After breaking down on the 8th July returning from holiday 100 miles from home, 4 weeks out of warranty. I called the dealership, Newbridge, as RAC had completed diagnostic test. They were unable to obtain the part as no local Nissan dealership close by. They were concerned that due to the age 2023 and 2400 miles on clock that there should be this fault, diagnostic said spark plugs or ignition coil. I contacted the dealership to ask if the car would be repaired under warranty as it had just ran out. The receptionist said no. I then spoke with a family member who contacted their mechanic, he again stated that Nissan should cover as this fault should not occur at age and mileage of the car. I called back the dealership, again the receptionist told me it wouldn't be covered. I asked to speak with someone who could give me costing of the repair. No one was available. I was about to be brought home in the breakdown truck, so would be travelling for over an hour. I asked if someone could call to give me an idea of costing and I would get the car dropped of at the dealership. I again was told no. My car has sat outside of my house since. On the 10th of July I received a call after I had called the salesman who had sold me the car as I had arranged to go into the car to change the car in August, this would have been my 3rd Nissan. The gentleman who called said it wouldn't matter if my car was 1 day or 4 weeks out of warranty, there would support from Nissan to cover any of the costs. I also complained to the dealership of the treatment I recieved from receptionist. I only hope she doesnt brake down miles from home and needs support. I then contacted Nissan UK Complaints. I shared information to then receive an email 2 days later. Which I then replied again with all the information, her response, 5 days later was to say she couldn't take the complaint any further as my car wasn't at the dealership as she had been in touch with them. Unsure how she wasn't aware as I had shared this on my first call and my email. I replied, got no response so sent a further email. This morning I have spoken to the agent dealing with the case, who continued to repeat the same phrase as I am out of warranty it would be up to me to get the car to the dealership, Newbridge and have it fixed. As I am unable to drive the car, I need to pay to transport it there. So no support and no further forward with contacting them. I had to hire a car last week to go on holiday again an additional cost as already paying for a car I can't drive. I want to know what support in paying for the cost to repair that Nissan will pay

Our Nissan Leaf is only 5 years old and has driven 38k miles. Its battery has already had a terminal failure. Despite the advertised “8 year battery warranty”, Nissan claim that an issue with a cell within the battery is not covered. Despite needing to take the battery apart to be able to diagnose or fix it. They also want to charge £1500 for diagnosis despite us already paying £180+ to a Nissan dealership for diagnosis. We were excited to buy an EV but Nissan cannot be trusted to honour their promises or back their product. We will never buy a Nissan car again. So disappointed.
As always Nissan is replying to say to contact them. We have and have been round in circles and still the answer is ‘no’. It’s a pointless reply.

My experience with Nissan UK and Lookers Charles Hurst NI left me extremely disappointed. Within two weeks of purchasing a Nissan Qashqai Tekna, the vehicle developed numerous faults, many involving electrical systems and safety-related features such as lane assist, proximity sensors, dashboard warnings and starting issues. The vehicle was returned for repair on multiple occasions over several months, yet the problems continued.
Although various software updates and replacement parts were fitted, the underlying faults were never resolved. I provided detailed written reports, photographs and videos, but the recurring issues persisted, leaving me with no confidence in the vehicle's reliability or safety. After months of inconvenience and frustration, and having been told that over an extended period that the car was comprehensively tested through normal use, which was a total of 34 miles over a three week period, I was left with little option but to return the vehicle and accept a financial loss.
What disappointed me most was the lack of support after the matter was concluded. As a long-standing Nissan customer, I contacted Nissan UK seeking reassurance before considering another purchase. Despite explaining everything that had happened, I never received the response or confidence I was looking for, so I decided not to buy another Nissan.
Based on my experience, I cannot recommend either the vehicle or the level of customer support I received from Nissan UK and Lookers Charles Hurst NI. A customer who reports repeated faults from the outset deserves a lasting solution and meaningful support, not months of inconvenience, an unresolved outcome and a considerable financial penalty.
Readers will see a response from Nissan. I have provided all information yet again, on 15th July along with supporting evidence with the case number 02975904. I would urge careful consideration before entering into any agreements with Nissan UK as it appears they do not even know their own systems and processes therefore resulting in poor customer care
16 days later, having provided Nissan UK with all necessary detail there has still been no communication from them. I would urge anyone entering into a purchase that may ultimately involve Nissan UK should there be issues to consider options carefully.

One star is too many! After my 23 plate Nissan Joke broke down with what was a defective alternator three days out of warranty and with only 15k miles on the clock, Nissan would not offer anything towards the £500 repair nor would they offer a courtesy car. Considering the part has taken almost a month to deliver, I’ve been without a car for all this time whilst still paying for it. Only after emailing the CEO has an offer of goodwill towards the cost been offered. The communication from both Lookers Newcastle and Nissan has been beyond abysmal and I will be going to the motoring ombudsman. I will also be getting rid of this car as soon as I’m able and I urge anyone reading to never buy a Nissan car.

Took delivery of my new Nissan X Trail on the 12.05.26 from an online leasing company, the car was inspected by me and the leasing company and there were no apparent defects.
15 days later I returned to my car having parked it at work all day and some of the paint/lacquer had disintegrated on the centre console.
I contacted my local Nissan - Stoneacre Anlaby who booked it in for a diagnostic appointment, the technician advised this needs repairing and should be done under warranty and completed the request to Nissan UK on this day, DECLINED - EXTERNAL, the garage were as bemused as me, resubmitted by Stoneacre Nissan for this to be completed under warranty, DECLINED- EXTERNAL FAULT (what does this even mean, NISSAN UK could/would not tell me)
Raised a complained with NISSAN UK and after 24 days this has been declined a further two times, asked to speak to a manager "You cant". asked for an email address "You cant.
Requested their report as to why it has been declined under warranty, still waiting!!!!!
For a new customer to receive such shocking customer service is scandalous, I have now got take this case to the ombudsman!!!!
Come on Nissan UK, please share your findings or at least some customer service, to say I'm shocked is an understatement!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Received a letter telling me that my Nissan Quashqi was part of a recall with a potentially serious problem. Only one problem, I have never owned the vehicle and haven’t owned a Nissan in nearly 30 years. I am concerned that Nissan are holding my details against a vehicle I have never owned and also that the true owner is driving around in a vehicle with a dangerous fault that he knows nothing about. Spoke to both ‘Elizabeth’ and ‘Rebecca’ in the call centre who basically didn’t want to know and blamed DVLA. Based on this experience I wouldn’t touch one of their vehicles with a barge pole.

After a 10 year relationship with the brand it’s sad to say it’s abruptly come to an end.
Finally worked my way up the range to a used Ariya. Purchased from main dealer as always on the cared4 scheme. In 6 months and 4K miles I have had all the common faults listed on your Ariya forum:
Shimkit - causing damage to discs almost £500 and ongoing
Battery Inc RAC having to come out - £160
Driveshaft hubnut clicking - £400
ICC stopped working
Everything bar the ICC fault declined warranty Inc now telling me the
Front drop links have play - another decline. That’s fine as I don’t expect suspension to be covered entirely.
Over £1000 in less than 6 months. Never had that with any car before.
Dismissive customer service team with very little contact - a short, sharp email saying we won’t be offering goodwill or compensation for anything.
Subsequently my wife as of today has pulled her September Micra order to replace her Leaf.
I have removed with the main dealer all
Future sales contacts ref me changing ro the new leaf at some point.
Poor show Nissan, burned a loyal customer.
All I wanted in the end was as you to pay the £99 labour to fit my new discs that were damaged by a faulty shimkit.
It’s not the money, it’s the principle.

Our Nissan Qashqai suffered an engine seizure due to a manufacturer fault. It was dropped off at the dealership December 1st 2025. Since then we discovered that Greenhous Nissan in Shrewsbury missold us the vehicle, as it was sold to us under the Nissan pre approved scheme - but there was no verification of its service records prior to service, rendering it ineligible for any warranty. Also sold us the extended warranty that we have been paying since purchase. Our vehicle has not moved from where it was dropped off in December and we have had to chase NISSAN GB, GREENHOUS NISSAN SHREWSBURY, MARSHALL NISSAN LINCOLN for any updates as to what is going on with no answers. We have been paying insurance, our finance payments and everything else without physically seeing our car for almost 9 months. Any complaints have been ignored, and we were offered a rental from YESTERDAY JULY 2026 for one week after incurring countless costs due to paying for a car we cannot access. How this is acceptable I will never understand. The practice of Nissan GB is disgusting
