Disgusting Service

I understand that I was a few payments behind on my PPC because I have been struggling. Talk about being treat like a criminal, they were so unhelpful and demanded payment in full for the missed payments. They made it sound like I had deliberately not paid which is completely wrong as my business nearly went south a few months ago but they didn't care. As their was no way of giving feedback here it is the Geordie I spoke to didn't even know how to spell Humberside 🤔 isn't Newcastle just above Humberside pretty much!! He said I had ignore the emails, ah no I couldn't afford to pay my business emails so I haven't received the emails!! He didn't care less about the customer only about his job and his back pocket making him a jobsworth. Yes I have my own company now but it's early days and because of the industry that I am in i get paid on invoice not daily weekly etc it's almost a month in hand. If the guy reads this review you need to have a good long look in the mirror and the state of the economy and how much people are struggling. If it is down to management then suggest a change, you are entitled to suggest ideas to management that it should be fairer on its customers who are in debt. Brush up on your customer service skills, because I can see the long standing PPC service been taking through the courts for unfair practice and discrimination

No better than scammers

No better than scammers.
Despite having an active DD set up to pay for a prepayment prescription, they don't renew it at the end of the year, don't write to you to say the prepayment has ended and then fine you!
Absolute scum.

I wish I could give a zero...it happens in almost every year that they say I have to prove my pre-payment cert bc they cannot be sure I used the service fraudulently...they should have an updated record in their system but I guess no one cares...a shamble company.

Really not surprised to see one star…

Really not surprised to see one star rating. My mother had a NHS pension and when she died they didn’t deal with it correctly. Resulting in over and under payment to my father. I understand things go wrong but trying to get any sensible answer out of them has taken over 3 months. I compare with other organisations and just see poor processes, systems and no attempt to fix things first time.

Nothing short of scam artists and…

Nothing short of scam artists and scumbags.

It's like they all know the script. Have no empathy. And even when you do try and pay the silly, extortionate fees (the lowest wage earners tend to be the ones funding them) it doesn't work.

Thier systems are broken. Thier helplines are just full of scum and they are basically a faceless company that love to take money of those who can't afford it..

26 pound fee, ramped to 126.

I asked one if they were happy taking money from families - and happy that they take food from the mouths of children.... they hung up on me.

Nothing but evil here.

If I could have scored a 0 I would have

NHS Crap

I'd give zero stars if it was possible...

I wasn't told what type of job seekers allowance I was on so I recieved a letter "our system has flagged up you have been recieving free NHS prescriptions your not entitled to" I rang them and explained to them that
I didn't have a clue (genuinly) I was ill advised. So I rang them back asking to pay the £100 fine straight away to be told "oh no you have to wait for a letter from us before you pay it" really I just want to pay the damn thing in the same phone call "you need to remember you have up until Christmas eve to pay it/call us"

I had to wait for a letter to pay it WHAT LETTER?

I haven't recieved a letter or anything I mean come on who gives christmas eve as a date to remember!

TERRIBLE

TERRIBLE! How can I be fined whilst on maternity for getting a prescription: happy to pay the prescription charge but was ill advised by pharmacist that I qualify for exemption. Once a woman is pregnant the systems should be linked…why do I have wait weeks to get a MAT B1, but then nobody tells you about maternity exemption. Midwives should do them both at the same time or from the moment you have your first ultrasound. NHS are cheeky and have found a loophole to get money. Can’t afford £100 fine on SMP of £183 a week!!! The prescription for goodness sake was due to nearly dying from nearly getting sepsis! Disgusted.

I would give this service 0 stars if I could.
I bought a prepayment certificate and paid DD. 1 month I had a problem with the payment nit going out, so I got.in touch and arranged to pay the outstanding arrears of £11 something. Unfortunately I was left in a queue and due to my work an NHS practitioner I have very limited time to contact them.during their opening hours. I also work Saturdays as overtime, and I did try to call them, but unfortunately I work exactly the same time as they are open.
Now I recieve a letter saying I owe the full amount. I have been playing tennis with emails trying to sort this out, but all.they do is copy and paste the same email, and sign it from a different person. I am.proud to work for the NHS and have been for over 24 years, but I am disgusted at the lack of service I have recieved from NHS BSA. I agree with many other people that they are nothing but scammers, after a quick quid.

Are they scamming people?

I believe this organisation purely exists to trick you into the convenience of a prepayment certificate so that they second they get an oppourtinity, they fine you.

I'd had one rolling for about a decade without any issues, then all of a sudden I got three PCN's through the door.

Apparently, the direct debit was cancelled, and now instead of paying 3 x whatever the prescription charge is, I owe them over £200.

I never cancelled it. I never would cancel it. Apparently though, it's my responsibility, and before each time you go and collect a prescription you should check you are eligible.

The people on the end of the phone sound robotic and have no sympathy, and simply tell you if you do not pay, then it will go to a debt collection company and will be out of their hands.

All of this just before Christmas is so depressing. The majority of people using pre payment/exemption are doing so because they cannot afford the alternative, so preying upon these individuals, shaking them up to generate money for the state, absolutely stinks.

I shall be writing to my local MP about this and I would advise you to as well. If you have been stung by them, it's time to act so if you're reading this, please join me in doing so.

Government organisations like this RELY on people like us to generate their income, and if we all withdraw together, it will crumble.

Shameful, horrific, unforgivable tactics - and yes in this country, it truly is a crime to be poor.

Definitely a Crime to be poor.

I thought I was the only one... but after reading through the reviews here I realise it's a common practice. Fined a total of £165 for a £20 prescription because I was stupid enough to follow the instructions they gave me. Instead of removing the £99 fine like they said they would they added £49 more. Real scumbags. I realise it's a ploy... give bad information so they can send out fines. A real money maker for them.

Watch out for your 60th birthday year

At the end of September i turned 60yrs and my usual auto renew pre-pay subscription that i have been using for 7+years and never missed stopped but NOT in September! It stopped in April obviously i hadn't noticed until i received a letter ( not in April when missed) they waited until October … now the letter accuses you of claiming free prescriptions fraudulently! I called nhsbsa straight away and said this was a total accident and could i pay the amounts missed then.. i was advised that i couldnt and would have to wait until i received other paperwork… well that day came a week ago when i received a penalty notice letter for the amount of £59 i was just about to pay when i received a second notice letter this was for another £59 plus a fine of £118.80 total payment of £236.80 🤯this has to be paid by 23 Dec 24 or i would incur further penalty's.. ive tried over and over to express that i have no money and am not working and that this was an accident.. after 4-emails to some sort of repeating robot im told over and over i fraudulently claimed free prescriptions and again telling me to pay up or ill be charged more!! What an appalling way to treat people !! Nhs you should be ashamed 🤬😡

NHS pension contribution

NHS pension contribution: Day time robbery on nhs employees. No body can question them, they increase and take areas any time they want consecutively in a year. How can someone be paying monthly pension worth nearly £700 and still they have excuse for deducting such amount from an employee in two consecutive months. Can’t believe they are getting away with this. No wonder many people have opted out. I learnt my lesson too late

Medical Exemption Fine issued with no thought

I have been a Type1 diabetic for over 26 years now and have never paid for prescriptions since this date. Diabetes is a permanent health condition which has no possible cure so will never change. We are issued with a medical certificate which has to be renewed every 5 years. This is a pointless exercise as a Type 1 Diabetic's condition is permanent so will always be valid for a medical exemption.

Now the NHS Business Services Authority has issued a letter requesting payment of a fine for a my diabetes medication due to my medical exemption certificate expiring. There was no warning or no letter to say 'Please ensure your certificate is renewed', just a person on the end of the phone stating that the fine has been issued and if not paid it will be passed to a debt collection agency to take necessary steps to retrieve the debt and additional costs.
It's tough enough having to cope with a permanent illness like this but to have this land on you even after you have applied for a new certificate and explained your condition is permanent is unnecessarily brutal even if delivered in a calm voice on the phone.

My chemist has not asked for my medical exemption certificate in years when I collect prescriptions as I he's known me for so long and so he stopped checking it.

Why any government agency would insist on you having to seek a medical exemption every 5 years for a permanent disease which will blight your life forever is beyond me, adds to the stress of having diabetes in the first place and adds insult to a condition I have no control over.

I'm at a loss as to what to do.

Be wary of this scam

Be wary of this scam. You will get your prescription payed for the duration but they won't remind you when it's due for renewal and then they will slap you with a hefty fine.

Modern day theft

The problem is with the prescription pre-payment system. It's very easy for it to lapse and all you get from these people is an email, which is easily not seen. There are many our there with mental health issues or perhaps the elderly who are easy targets for these people.

Why don't you send a text to remind people, or link it to the NHS app to give a reminder? It's easy money, that's why.

They hit people hard with heavy, multiple fines. I can understand people having to pay for their prescriptions, but mistakes happen and this is too much. There are people who are struggling to heat and eat.

These people are parasites - leeching cash from those that make genuine mistakes. If you work for the NHS Business Services Authority, you should be ashamed of yourself.
