Want to discover that a significant number of your neighbours are r4cists?
A haven for racists who are clearly also on the moderation team. Hate speech goes unchecked and those who do attempt to call it out are removed from the platform. Don’t just take my word for it - Google it.
After creating another account I was then removed for telling a person who was claiming Sharia law was in place in certain areas of the UK that they were brainwashed and deluded - for which I was removed. So, they’d prefer the spread of racist misinformation than the mild confrontation that was me calling a racist deluded and brainwashed. Go figure, I guess they’re going for a vibe of harmonious bigotry ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Going downhill
This community used to be mostly neighbours exchanging useful information, watching out for each other and helping. More recently it seems flooded with adverts for businesses [the same ones over and over again] and some of the responses to posts have been particularly nasty and sarcastic. Even when I have flagged some of those as being disrespectful or offensive there seems to be no action.
Sadly, I've had to mute some members - that feels like sending someone to Coventry, which is not what should happen in a community.
It may be a reflection on the breakdown of society, but I don't think that I'm the only one thinking of quitting nextdoor.
This inadequatre and laughable company…
This inadequatre and laughable company has been junk emailing my father on an obolete email address (obviously unsolicited!) - he died over a decade ago.
If this is indicative of the information held by this lot of reprobates (in my peronsal opinion), they have very, very out of date information. Useless!
Hopeless.
Could be good if it actually worked. Every single day there is a problem accessing DMs that lasts for hours. Hopeless if your trying to contact anyone about anything.
Nothing but a cowboy
S.A.M'S JOINERY AND BUILDING SERVICES came to move my fence and gate. When I got home the gate didn't fit the doorway they had made, there was a huge gap down the side so the gate isn't secure and a 10 inch gap at the bottom that my dog can escape through. The fence isn't straight and moves. A post that is too short has been used. He was supposed to put my planters back together, but didn't. He didn't dismantle my decking , he left it in a massive piece on my drive for anyone to take. And I now have a huge mess in what used to be my garden. I've messaged the company owner and he's blocked me. Absolutely disgusting. Do not use S.A.M's joinery and building services from Hemlington in middlesbrough

It’s a shockingly poorly moderated…
It’s a shockingly poorly moderated platform. It houses a bed of ignorant racists who are allowed to insult moderately minded people. They openly allow right-wing and fascist ideology pedalled by obviously ill-informed buffoons who constantly try to generate slanging matches by posting very political right-wing and racist comments. There are a lot of posts on missing and dead cats too!
The website/app is totally broken
The website is totally broken. I can't post as the pop up box is blank. If you use the app, boxes and warnings keep covering the keyboard. Then often you can't even see what you are typing as the text box is also underneath the keyboard. It keeps telling me that app is not optimised for the latest version of Android, yet they want me to spend money advertising on this platform that doesn't work with millions of devices!
Let's not even get started on the helicopter and dog pooh posts. You can't really organise things that interest you, posts disappear right in front of your eyes, you often can't comment because there is no comment box showing, then you go back and suddenly it appears. Awful site clearly created by people who don't even care about it's appearance or functionality. Things have been broken for months/years.
Finley
Finley, our server, was the best and most efficient worker i have ever encountered in my life. He was polite, welcoming and had a great attitude! Thankyou all, what a lovely bottomless brunch. Would definitely recommend

Silenced for raising local concerns
I posted a respectful, fact-based message about real issues in my neighbourhood: Croydon’s crumbling services, unaffordable parking, extreme council tax, and the lack of leadership. It followed all guidelines. No hate, no swearing, just local concerns. The post gained support, then suddenly my account was permanently banned without explanation or appeal. Meanwhile, political factions on Nextdoor post non-stop, attacking each other with party spin, and that content stays up. Even before this, I had removed several of my own posts about parking fines, ULEZ charges, and rising penalties for motorists because I could see that anything remotely critical or “inconvenient” would get flagged. This app isn’t neutral or community-focused. It’s filtered, biased, and completely intolerant of uncomfortable truths. Avoid it if you care about honest discussion.
The Removal of local deals FAIL
The removal of local deals has been a complete disaster for self employed business operating on nextdoor..
They have switched to the ripoff Facebook model, where they charge you £5 a day £150 per month for 30 days.
Local deals was only £60 for the same 30 days so a lot of traders will simply move to a cheaper platform
This was a greed driven change and benefits nobody & plays into the hands of cowboy traders who have now taken over

Do not try it
This app is a scam. They won’t let you leave. No matter what you do, you’ll never be able to leave. I’ve tying to leave this app for more than a year but still receiving an email from them

Hope you can assist. My Nextdoordigest has ceased to function. The “blue” access line doesn’t complete the line and fades half way which means I cannot access Next Door Digest. Tried to update my iPad but u able to do so. No one appears to get it working for me! Help please. 😊Alasdair
I won't use Nextdoor if I can avoid it.

The moderation is toxic. The moderators ban you if you challenge their political ideologies. It's perfectly acceptable to post hate about Nigel Farrage and Reform UK, but if you challenge it, you get banned.
The moderators don't even follow their own community guidelines, they just give you a ban if you say anything.
Recently, one user said that people who voted for "Deform PLC" were of low intelligence. I asked him where he got his degree from and reported his post for hate speech. I got banned.
As regards communication, healthy debate and discussion, and moderation, Nextdoor is the most toxic "Social Media" site on the internet. You can't say anything unless you agree with the left wing nature of the people using the site. It reeks of two faced double standards and it is one of the most toxic sites that I know of. I have never known a social media site to be so intolerant of other people's opinions.
Furthermore, the manner of joining the site goes against The Data Protection Act. They need to know your full birth name, your exact geolocation and your mobile phone number, before they will even let you join.
Why does a PRIVATE social media network need to know all of this data?
Once someone knows all of this information about you, they can actually target you. They only need to know your full name in order to find out who you are, and where you live. Then they can target you externally of the site. This can lead to you being confronted at your own home, or on the streets, if the people on Nextdoor don't agree with your beliefs.
I was banned once, because I wouldn't use my full birth name on the site. They didn't believe that I was who I said I was. I emailed them back, and I asked them: Who takes responsibility if I am tracked back to my home address, once I have given all of this personal information out, and targeted exterior to the site? The administration team did not answer the question, which made me wonder what was going on?
I don't like it when admin staff won't respond to a single, simple question like that.
It scare's me to think that I could be tracked back to my home address and physically targeted by other members of Nextdoor, using nothing but my name to track me, simply because I have my own mind and I do not believe some of the things that they do.
Between moderators who ban you more for your political beliefs, and them being able to track you right to your front door, by using nothing more than your full name, I would give this PRIVATE social media site a wide birth.
Furthermore, it doesn't offer anything that Facebook and X don't.
Nextdoor seems to be a platform for: A: moderators to block conflicting opinions, B: For moderators to ban people for having certain political beliefs, particularly those who lean more to the center or right, and C: To give small minded, little people, people who can't accept democracy, a sense of personal empowerment.
These moderators / reviewers don't use other social media accounts. They don't use X or Facebook. Instead, they stay on Nextdoor, because it's the only place where they can regulate the environment so that it's more left wing orientated.
Isn't it funny how, anyone who spitefully attacks Reform UK or Nigel Farrage is never banned, even though it is hate speech and, blatantly, goes against the forum regulations? However, in those circumstances, nothing is ever done. If, on the other hand, you criticize Labor, regardless of the context, the post goes missing and you, more than likely, will receive a ban.

Nothing you can't find better on…
Nothing you can't find better on Facebook/Reddit. It's very stalkerish and often straight up nasty. I'm offended by the lack of freedom of expression, my dad fought in ww2 for such freedoms and to see them being abused like this is abject moral failure. There would be no such social media if it weren't for decent people like him.Nextdoor have no sense of the value of privacy either. I won't use it again. I also don't trust their data protection.
Too many fake Neighbour profiles
Too many fake Neighbour profiles. Not enough being done to clean the platform of these fake profiles. An absolute shambles. Nice idea, very poor execution.
