Terrible customer service. They deny claims even when the proper paperwork is submitted. I even resubmitted the claim and they denied it for another reason. I spent 20 min on the phone only to be told... See more

Worst FSA Ever!
BenefitWallet is the absolute worst spending account ever. Every single medical appointment co-pay requires an upload of the complete medical appointment including a significant amount of private medical information or they threaten to cancel the card and demand repayment. I have never been required to upload the depth of information for any other FSA I have ever used.
My dependent care account has approved care amounts on it which they have not yet collected enough from my paycheck to cover. However, after each paycheck it takes an additional 7-12 days for them to send me the reimbursements. With other companies, approved payments are dispersed immediately. Why are they holding my money so long?
Everything about this company is absolutely absurd. It has been an absolute headache dealing with them for the past 8 months.
Horrible Customer Service
Horrible customer service and so incredibly frustrating. They placed a stop on my reimbursement without notifying me, and when I called to inquire, I was on hold for nearly an hour. When they did pick up, all I got was canned responses and they could not/would not answer my questions. I also had difficulty understanding the operator who's English was very poor.
Absolute worst money waster you can be…
Absolute worst money waster you can be unfortunate enough to get mixed up with.
A horrible website, terrible customer service, an astonishing delay to do absolutely anything (4 weeks minimum); and just an overall headache not worth the paltry tax gains.
Spend hour on the phone for phony…
Spend hour on the phone for phony denial on that they say should not even be listed as a denial because it was already addressed
This company is a joke
This company is a joke. Documentation needed for every use, will suspend your card and make you jumps through hoops to get it reopened. Terrible wait times when contacting, etc.
Very pricy for poor service
BenefitWallet offers okay self-service online, but they have higher monthly maintenance fee, long transfer periods, they charge you $35 to transfer your money to another HSA, don't have account closure forms available online (you have to find one with your new HSA and use that, and then call BenefitWallet for their address)... essentially they make it harder and more expensive to save or transfer your own money than any other HSA I've ever had. Very non-transparent and intentionally difficult.
Good luck getting your money out
Update 31/7/2022: I am informed that it will now take another week to process the transaction. At this point, it seems like I will be waiting until the end of August, at which time there will be another maintenance fee, and we start back at square 1.
After some Googling, it seems that people who contacted Better Business Bureau have had some success. Will try.
Update 30/7/2022: Since it took so long for them to process the request, we've hit the end of the month, which mean they deducted another $2.95 for the monthly maintenance fee... Which means that we now have to start all over!
Original 28/7/2022 Trying to transfer any money out is like pulling teeth...First my transaction was held, then it was paused, god knows what will happen next. I first put in a request to transfer my holdings out on 20/7/2022 (8 days ago), let's see how long it will take.
Terrible website and terrible customer…
Terrible website and terrible customer service
This has been such a horrible company…
This has been such a horrible company to do business with, I felt compelled to add my review. My former employer used this service to manage our HSA funds. When I was let go during pandemic reductions, they start charging you a monthly fee of $3.50 while paying you about a penny in interest. As others say, contacting them requires a phone call through their system designed to make sure you don't get a human! FAQs are awful. It's amazing any company would use such a terrible business.
Evil company
Not honest or transparent with their services. They almost drained my entire account with fees. When I tried to call to address some basic technical issues with the account, they were unable to help with a baroque customer service run around. The structure is designed to confuse the customer and suck money from the accounts, no interest in actually helping.
BenefitWallet won't reimburse for fraudulent charges
BenefitWallet allowed 3 Amazon (non-HSA) charges on my account. I found out about it when they sent me an IRS1099 form reporting a distribution, 6 months after the fact.
Turns out it was fraud, Amazon refunded the amount to benefitWallet, Benefitwallet is not returning the funds as their T&C's don't permit any action over 90 days old. So far they are keeping the money, and I am reporting them to the authorities.
Shame on them.
UPDATE: After 6 months of repeated complaints, BenefitWallet returned the funds. I find the delay inappropriate and their excuses horrible, but they finally did the right thing.
This is the worse service ever
This is the worse service ever. They keep denying me benefits I send them all the information they ask for over and over as to where I can’t upload no more information. I would like an itemized statement on how much money people loose to them because they don’t want to go through this hassle. It’s sad you have to stress out trying to get information to use your own money to pay doctor bills they are frauds. This is my rightful money.
Horrible experiences
Horrible experiences. Hospital bills dentist bills they reject, then you have to call them 10 times. If it is a hospital or dental bill, why reject it, isn't it obvious they are legit.
absolute worst, just generally evil
1. Horrible customer service. You can send a message but you will receive no notice that it has been answered, you will have to check your "inbox" on their site. If you call, there is no option to talk to a human. If you press 0 at the right time, you can wait forever to talk to one, who will most likely be useless.
2. An HSA contribution transfer from my bank takes a week to show up in my HSA account, even though it is gone from my bank account immediately.
3. A check to a provider was inexplicably "held" for some reason (or no reason). I sent a message to support and in the reply they requested that I call them. See #1.
4. Benefit wallet website is non-intuitive and buggy.
Worst Customer Service Ever
Their customer service is the worst I ever came across. The people you talk to on the phone can't help, because they do not perform the reviews on your claims. Never can talk to a supervisor, never received a call back from a supervisor. If I could give zero Stars, I would, because their service is well below a one Star.
If i could give a zero
If i could give a zero - i would. Terrible customer service, employees seem to have little understanding and the website is often not working. Incredibly frustrating to work with. If someone has a better company for HSA money - let me know!
Customer service is horrible
Customer service is horrible. You’re not going to speak to someone in this country, or minimally someone that has command over the language. Not to mention the unconscionable wait times. And for some godforsaken reason, they take 5-7 business days to process an ACH transfer from your bank (despite the fact it’s posted by your bank within 1 business day… because it’s an ACH.. the whole point is that it’s instant). Calling customer service will only frustrate you further, make you want to close your account, and question your life. Luckily, my employer is transitioning to a different HSA provider, whom I’m already much more impressed by (it’s not hard, in fairness). Two stars because the app is decent. Many things can be managed through the app. Just don’t find yourself in a position where you need to speak to a human. Good luck.
I would give them a 0 star rating if…
I would give them a 0 star rating if one was available. When you deposit money into your account it can take 2 weeks before they actually allow you to use it. Consumer be aware, these folks reply to your concerns like you were a pest, the WORST customer service EVER. They just dont care about the customer.
They are the absolute worst
They are the absolute worst. I requested to have my account closed when they raised the minimum balance requirement. Honestly, I have sent many messages and am told to call. I call and am hold forever and can never get through. I have tried to transfer to my bank account and they stop it. I finally went to an ATM machine and was charged a fee! And of course there is a small daily limit so it's going to cost me more. And on top of this, I've been hit with the monthly fee. Do yourself a favor and do not do business with them.
I wish there was a ZERO stars option
I wish there was a ZERO stars option. I have used an FSA for 10 YEARS with other companies and had no problems UNTIL BenefitWallet and I am considering just getting rid of the FSA. They flat out deny coverage for medical payments that say they are very clearly covered under the plan. It makes NO sense. Customer service wait is HOURS and then they cannot help or explain why they denied the payment even though you have every receipt they need. I don't write many reviews, but this is unacceptable. I won't be using FSA anymore. What a scam. They won't get any more money from my paycheck as soon as I can cancel it.
