Rural pickup issues

Pickup was rural and there was zero communication about rural pickups not being an. The day after the pickup date we revived a call that the bag needed to be taken to a pickup location by a certain time that day which was very stressful. I have had bags dropped off at this same address with no issues, and my baggage never said anything in the booking process about pickups from that address not being possible. On top of this I had to pay a fuel surcharge, so including the time and cost of getting the bag to the pickup location I don’t feel I got my moneys worth and generally feel let down and frustrated.

We do have a clear warning to all customers shipping from New Zealand that advises on potential issues with collections from more remote areas and that a drop off location may be needed. This is shown before and during booking.

The fuel surcharge is applied for the whole shipment's journey, not just from the collection address.

My Baggage has a dedicated customer service team who are always on hand to assist with any issues you may have and we cannot see any contact from you to our team to help resolve this issue.

Your review is the first you have made us aware of any issues with your collection and we are extremely disappointed with a one star review especially given that the shipment did still journey across the world and arrive safely and on time.

Fast, Easy & Reliable Service

Amazing service from start to finish. The whole process was incredibly easy to follow, with clear instructions every step of the way. My suitcase was delivered from the UK to Australia in just 9 days, which exceeded my expectations.

The only issue I experienced was with the final delivery by FedEx in Australia. The suitcase was left outside my property without anyone ringing the doorbell or notifying me that it had been delivered.

Aside from that, the service was excellent and I’d definitely use it again.

Avoid this service unless you enjoy headaches

Avoid this service unless you enjoy being ignored, overcharged, and left to figure everything out yourself.

This company is essentially just a FedEx reseller with zero value added - and I mean zero. They sent incorrect customs forms for my departure country, and when I reached out to ask what was happening, they never responded. Five days later, still nothing. Complete radio silence.

I then discovered I'd been charged for customs, but because they apparently have no actual communication with FedEx, I had to create my own FedEx account just to find out why. I'm the customer - why am I doing their customer service job for them?

On top of all that, they won't even ship items that airlines routinely accept as checked baggage. So you're paying a premium for fewer options, more delays, more stress, and zero support.

Lesson learned the hard way: take a checked bag and have it couriered from the airport on arrival. It costs roughly the same once you factor in the hidden customs charges, but you'll actually know what's going on at every step.

Save yourself the headache. This service offers nothing that justifies its price or its existence. I'll have to report back about delivery as FedEx is currently holding my bags hostage one day after they were supposed to be delivered due to "disbursement fees" where payment takes up to an hour to process lol

Extremely disappointing experience.

I booked and paid approximately $350 for a luggage collection service that never happened.

My friend stayed home all day specifically to hand over the luggage and was available from 8:00 AM onwards. By 2:00 PM, nobody had arrived, so I called customer service and was assured the driver would definitely be there by 6:00 PM.

When nobody showed up by 6:30 PM, I called again. After waiting for a promised callback that never came, I contacted the company once more and was then told that the driver had supposedly attempted collection at 9:00 AM.

This explanation simply doesn’t add up. If a collection attempt was genuinely made at 9:00 AM, then it was not made properly, as someone was home and available. More importantly, if the collection had already failed at 9:00 AM, why was I told at 2:00 PM that the driver would still be arriving later that day?

The entire experience was marked by poor communication, contradictory information, and a complete failure to deliver the service that was paid for.

Mistakes happen, but what is most frustrating is the lack of transparency and the amount of time wasted trying to get accurate information. After this experience, I will be using a different and more reliable provider in the future.

I have been told a refund will be issued and am currently awaiting confirmation.

We have verified that the information our team provided at the time was correct and we are sorry this was not correct. We will be raising this with FedEx as their systems should be giving the correct information at all points.

It is very rare for any collection to fail as long as items are left at the correct location - if an apartment building has the likes of a concierge or a reception, this would generally be where the couriers will collect from.

Our courier partner FedEx is trusted around the world and it is not known for poor performance but we are sorry that this collection did not take place as expected.

Egregious hidden custom fees

I paid 576.99 to ship 4 suitcases from London to Florida back in December 2025. These suitcases contained only personal items. While the price looked high, I was still okay with it given the freedom this gave both my wife and me to travel light for the rest of our trip in Europe. But, I recently received an invoice from Fedex for $181.62 for brokerage fees and duty taxes. I believe the company was not upfront with these charges as they only had a small fine print about some vague custom fees. I will never use them again. Beware of this deception!!

We are extremely concerned about your review and allegations of deception, this is not the case. My Baggage are extremely up front and transparent regarding the possibility of customs fees and that these are not included as part of your shipping costs. You are required to check a box associated with a specific warning about this possibility and it is not hidden in small print.

Customs are a government agency in every country and is not under the control of My Baggage or any courier. It is an international requirement and whilst there may be exemptions in place for used personal effects shipments, this is always on a case by case basis and never guaranteed.

Great customer service, very messy collection + delivery

I recently used My Baggage to ship some boxes from Spain to Austria.

Overall, my experience was mixed. The customer service team was excellent throughout the process (would like to highlight Evan in particular); responsive, helpful, and very solutions-oriented.

Unfortunately, the actual collection and delivery process was a bit of a mess. The scheduled collection was missed because the local Spanish DHL branch claimed they did not collect on the day I had booked (a Tuesday as well, of all days), despite that date being available during the booking process. Delivery was also problematic, with the boxes arriving later than the estimated delivery date.

As I was no longer able to receive the shipment at the original address, I had to arrange for the boxes to be redirected, which caused further delays. Of the four boxes, only three arrived on the revised delivery date. The fourth box spent over a week being erroneously sent between different DHL warehouses before finally being delivered.

The boxes themselves arrived quite battered and worn. Thankfully, none of the contents were damaged, but the packaging was certainly worse for wear by the time it arrived, and I don't think they would have made it through another round of delays.

My Baggage's customer service deserves credit for handling the situation professionally, but the local carriers involved in collection and delivery made the overall experience far more stressful than it needed to be. I would consider using the service again because of the support I received, but I would allow extra time and would not rely on the quoted collection and delivery dates.

Missed Collection

So what is the point in offering a collection date and then not bother turning up or contacting me to advise why they collection didnt happen? Booked to collect on a Friday and now Monday and still no pickup!! Not very impressed

It is very rare for a collection to fail especially if your items have been left at the correct location for collection. If your collection is from the likes of a hotel or a residence, it should be left at reception or a post room as drivers will not attempt collections directly from private rooms.

The whole situation was very easy

The whole situation was very easy. However the cost was a bit more than expected and subsequent google revealed that it may have been cheaper to pre purchase excess baggage with the airline.

Another thing was duty on the country's end which was not much but again unexpected.
