5 years solid services, no downtime, no alarms and no surprises

Great services, I have been using their email service on a Large account with 50GB at a great price per year. I have accomplished everything I wanted for my customers with out using the support once till today. After 5 years i needed the support since a website got an attack and tried to send more than 1000 mails in one hour and that triggered the mail server blockage filter. I sent to support and in some hours the problem was resolved. Thanks guys!

Excellent email hosting service

I'm a CS professional who manages a number of domains for family members and a couple small businesses. I've been running my own email hosting on EC2 for several years and know something of what it takes to do this.

While POP hosting is pretty inexpensive, I've not found IMAP hosting that is affordable, until now.

MXroute is aimed at system administrators who already have a domain and can manage their DNS, so it is not for novice users who just want a single email account. This meets my use-case exactly and I found the honesty on the web site to be reassuring—it confirmed that I was at the right place. I followed the instructions carefully and have one of my domains migrated without any downtime and without asking for help.

Their website can appear offensive.

I've been looking for a white label email service that uses Crossbox.io for a start up. We have 3 domains in our org, and as a start-up we can't afford to set up our own server, pay for the crossbox client and the white label app to offer to our group. Crossbox.io actually referred me to mxRoute.com as a more affordable crossbox reseller option, at least until we get rolling.
So I visited mxRoute.com to review if they do indeed offer what crossbox stated. I understand that a small company (like myself) does not have the personal to answer calls from people who won't read the info on the pages, so I get it. But just the condescending tone of the website... "If you have to ask questions, you're wasting out time" and "no refunds! If you are purchasing this annual plan just to see how mxRoute works, that's on you". And "you have to buy before you can speak with us". I mean I do get it... its frustrating to have to speak to 10-20 people to make 1 sale, but isn't that the cost of doing business? If the tone of their website was not so litterally offensive, perhaps they would soon be able to afford a guy or two to answer the phone (or schedule a call) from insignificant little peons like us consumers. Nothing says "I Hate You" like their FAQ page.
I do have questions. I don't want to buy a training level experience and have to "waste my time" dicking around upgrading to a lifetime license, with no credit for being forced to under-purchase.
I'm not sure if all the functionality that crossbox offers is available (white label app creator, or if crossbox is even included) and are solicited "bulk mail" requested by a potential customer permitted, such as a monthly newsletter for 1000-2000/month people enough to suspend your account. I just wish I could ask. The minus -2 stars is for unfriendly business philoshophy... "We are a small business that will treat you with more hostility than a faceless big business, and we don't care if you like it or not". In other words, instead of starting off the relationship with a big F.U., just at least try to be friendly. If you hate what you do, don't do it.
That is my only complaint about the product as a non-user. I'm fearful to become a user. Who needs an unfriendly business partner?

UPDATED: I'll give them an extra star for at least responding to this trust pilot concern. Like I said, I get it. I run a business as well and many of the folks we have to wade thru are intentionally uneducated (don't read the answers in front of their noses)... some just wanting 1 live person that won't ignore them.

I did re-read the MXRoute website, front to back, and it's not as hideously offensive as I may have initially reviewed. (Ibwas obviously stunned by my first impression or would not have taken the tike to write my first-ever trust pilot review. I will upgrade it to foreboding. And I get that too. They have to maintain their shared servers' IP's reputation or their product is worthless. There is a lot of dumbness going round now days, and that doesn't even include the jerks who intentionally defraud and deceive that ruin stuff for honest folk. I guess it's up to me to accept that the customer care of yor is no longer. It's just hard for me to get over the shift in philosophy from "the customer is always right" to the more narcissistic "Hey pal, I'm doing you a favor by allowing you to buy my product/service". Hopefully I'm wrong about this perception and will be happily add MXRoute as friend & teammate vs an ex-wife. I will surely update this review as I proceed.

I'm sorry you feel that way. I think you have the motivation wrong. We were built originally for system administrators and not for average users. Over time our customers base has shifted. However, there is a large subset of users that find our service to be frustratingly complex, and it honestly ruins their day and takes away countless hours of their time that they'll never get back. We do not have a short term path to resolving their perfectly legitimate complaints, so we've instead opted for the more merciful approach: To lose them in the presales stage and save them from the frustration.

You are complaining about being lost in the presales process, you should instead be celebrating that you didn't get past it. This was all intentional. We have no desire to make any money off of people who we know are not going to enjoy using our service.

It would be nice if you didn't so dramatically over state how hostile it is though. We do not increase the prices on all of our customers just to hire someone to talk to people who will never be customers. People who require presales conversations have a less than 15% satisfaction rate with our service, that is a pure fact. If we feel later that we've addressed the reasons for this in our product, we'll likely be able to address that without punishing our actual happy customer base.

We operate a business that requires…

We operate a business that requires very fast delivery of a high volume of emails, as part of an automated system that manages very large amounts of data. While we could have gone with any number of well known transactional email providers, we chose MXroute because they aren't just another too-big-to-care and faceless service provider. MXroute not only gets our emails delivered quickly and consistently, they proactively alert us to issues and keep watch to make sure our automated system works smoothly. They do this for less than the other companies charge.

Rude, insulting and extremely unhelpful, save your money, go elsewhere

They already have my money so why should they care? And this proved so true. They can't tell me why my emails aren't being received, even after verifying with the sender that they were sent. Instead first blame me, then claim the sender is lying! Even when provided proof! Unhelpful would be an understatement, completely useless is more accurate. I have never been treated so rudely by such ignorant people. Please don't waste your time or money on this disgusting company.

No one was rude or insulting to you, but this review is right in line with how you treated us in your support tickets. You did not provide proof, you do not understand what proof is in the context of this event. You were most likely on the suppression list for the sender's transactional email service or the sender was experiencing a problem with their mailing service (something we detailed for you in extensive logical deduction). For some reason, the idea that we couldn't fix that for you was extremely and personally offensive to you. Time and money was most certainly wasted on that interaction, agreed.

Just let your ex that hates you host your email you'll get better service, but they will both take your money.

I can't wait to see the response to this review.
I received a notification that a help ticket was opened by my username. Ticket stated an account was compromised and had been suspended. It asked for a plan for resolution before being unsuspended. I opened a ticket as I was initially skeptical as it was posted using my username. Response to my ticket was a magical fairy flew into his office and told him and why was that my primary concern. The ticket stated we do require that you respond to us and detail your plans for resolving this and clearly I didn't not understand it so his trust in me plummeted and asked me to find and IT professional to hand my computer to. I guess what I needed to tell them was I was going to change my password so they would unsuspend my account so I could change my password....? One of the founders decided I was wasting time and abused the help desk system. My account was banned and deleted, no refund no data. Okay then. I'm happy to provide screen shots of the entire support discussion to anyone thinking of using their services. Best of luck to anyone who gets involved with this company.

I'd be happy to provide the same screenshots, lined up so that the timeline of them is clearly visible to the reader. Because here's how the timeline went:

1. You either downloaded a virus, filled in a phishing form, or reused a compromised password and were a victim of first-try credential stuffing. The pattern surrounding this particular bad actor (who used your account) highly suggests virus, with some possible correlation to phishing. I've been watching this bad actor's patterns for at least 2 years.

2. I identified this and immediately fully secured your compromised email account.

3. I used my script which uses the HostBill API to open a ticket with you, which I have to do because a customer falls victim to these things every few hours, every day. The HostBill API does what it does for username display, I don't find it concerning and I find it to be overkill that you do. You received a notification verified to be from our ticket system, which you logged in to find in your account, confirming that it was not a false notification. The ticket perfectly described the situation and what was expected of you, including proof of it's assertions in the form of a very useful log entry. You ignored all of that text and jumped straight into concerned mode, without taking a single moment to read it, and went to #4:

4. You opened a new ticket with us about the ticket we opened with you. You replied to it soon after stating that you couldn't do something which the message in our ticket, that we opened with you, told you that you wouldn't be able to do. This confirmed that you didn't read our message to you.

5. I replied to your new ticket stating that I recognized that you didn't read the other ticket I opened with you, and that I needed you to reply to that ticket so that we do not have two going for the same issue. I closed that ticket with my reply.

6. You replied to the ticket I opened with you, asking who opened the ticket and why. If you were reading any single thing that we'd told you at this point, you knew who opened it and you knew why it was opened. All of this had been answered and clarified in the information that you continuously, bafflingly, refused to read.

7. You continued to respond to that ticket without acknowledging the issue we'd opened this ticket with you for, or anything that we'd asked you for in the ticket.

If you even read this whole response to this review, I'll be incredibly surprised. You are so incredibly allergic to reading that it's ridiculous and I absolutely cannot work with you as a result of it. You are going to fail at security that gives access to my platform, and you are going to flat out refuse to read anything we send you about your failure to secure your password.

Next time you can’t give a meaningful reply to a company that just alerted you to a security issue that absolutely every other email provider is failing to proactively identify, maybe don’t reply until you can. Wasting their time is taken as incredibly insulting.

You were refunded in full, don't lie.

Stays out of the way (in a good way)

Never really have to think about it. The service mainly just works, which is all I can ask for. And when it doesn't, the owner is very responsive and takes care of it quickly, even if he's not sure if it's his problem in the first place
Very happy with my service I picked up on Black Friday a few years ago. Being able to have emails for multiple of my domains for one low price is great.

Finally switched from Zoho Mail Free

Context and Past Provider information:
I had been using Zoho Mail on the free tier for three years with five domains, four of which were forwarding to the one.
I needed to forward emails to a specific Gmail address, but Gmail would not accept them at all.
Fortunately, the emails were too important to not be able to send, and the recipient had an address other than Gmail.
And on top of that experience the lock in to using Zohos specific applications and them locking down stuff like IMAP which prevent fast and easy backups/transfers of email inboxes shaped my experience.

Acton taken:
After that experience, I started looking for an email provider that is knowledgeable, transparent, helpful, honest and truly cares about email deliverability and their mail reputations.
And so far I have no regrets paying and being a customer with them delivering on everything I was expecting and more.
It took a good evening to set up all five domains with these guys, but I do not regret it.
Very easy to setup multiple domains after you do the first and know where to go and what needs to be done.
Easy to get live chat with the owner on discord and via their ticketing system.
They take suggestions seriously.
They are honest when you ask them something they do not know(was something outside of providing emails).

I found MXroute when looking for…

I found MXroute when looking for alternatives after the latest (of many) Google Suite price increases. Did some looking over several days, and even popped into the Discord sever to ask a clarifying question. Albertlento was fantastic, and helped me out right away, as well as Jarland popping in to say hello too.

Setup was straightforward, as long as you follow the directions in the welcome email, and I had no trouble at all migrating ~3,000 messages in the first domain + account I set up.

Let me be very upfront: If you're looking for someplace to mass message unsolicited emails (aka SPAM), don't waste your time. Your account won't last, if you even make it to the point of sign-up).

If you're looking for a straight-forward, easy to use, fully functional email setup with a price that won't break the bank, then this is the one!

Pureplay email, no calendar or contact, works perfect

I've been testing MXRoute for a few days. It is super solid with lots of help online. I got it working great on macOS (via Outlook and Thunderbird clients) and ios (mac Mail app). Zero problems! Super easy.

Best part is that I am using a domain I'd never used with a mail service before and none of the emails sent from this account have landed in any spam folders. Nice.

I cannot address any downtime having not used it long, but other commenters seem to show it's got great uptime stats (I've had some downtime with all the big players over the years).

Setup could be a challenge for folks are not used to updating DNS records and doing this sort of configuration. But the tutorials there if you look.

I honestly did not expect the level of support that I received.

I purchased a lifetime membership without doing much research, because I read a lot of glowing reviews about this company. Turns out I was completely under-equipped for this purchase, and had no idea what I was getting myself into. (If you don't know what a DNS is, don't be like me - this is probably not the service for you.) But alas, I am me, so there I was, floundering.

I decided to give up, and emailed support to let them know as much. What followed was the most beautiful customer service experience I've ever had. Albert Lento led me on a 4 hour long journey (back and forth emails), from NOTHING, to being fully set up. And not just able to send and receive emails, but passing all the credential/authentication/security-type tests that I don't understand..

He was a total professional and could have been forgiven for being just a bit impatient, or wry, with me - BUT HE WASN'T, not even a little bit! I don't really "belong" here in the strictest sense of the word, because I have no idea what I am doing and it is definitely more of an intermediate proficiency/DIY level sevice- and I am not even a novice - but Albert made it happen for me and I am eternally grateful. Now that I'm up and running, it's practically foolproof.

Also - in restrospect, they have a really nice tutorial where they lead the novice through the steps - and it did get me most of the way there. So if you have an adventurous spirit, take the leap, don't be too intimidated. Just be ready to be a little humbled, but also learn a bunch.

Thank you Albert and MX Route

I was using regular webhosting email…

I was using regular webhosting email for years, but as the name says - it's a hosting provider, not an email provider.
A friend suggested I get future domains from cloudflare and sign up with mxroute for my emails.
While I only have a basic knowledge of DNS and mail servers, I was able to set up everything I needed within a few minutes.
I love all the logging functionalities mxroute has to offer - it's clearly made for admins who have to troubleshoot every once in a while.

The service is cheap, and all my transactional emails reach their destination without any issues. I can't speak about the support because I've never needed it. I don't have any problems finding help online to solve issues within my reach.

Excellent personal and commercial post office❤️

This is a very good electronic post office, recommend to use, I think I will use it for a lifetime? I would recommend it to my boss, haha. Well, I noticed that the company was annoyed that the Chinese were spamming. But I don't like to generalize. This makes more excellent Chinese users feel uncomfortable. I hate this crap too. I think I agree with you.

MXroute Customer since 2017

I've been with MXroute since 2017 on the lifetime plan. I have never had any major issues with the service. Everything is simply smooth rolling. The owner has open communication in Discord and is always fighting spam to keep clean inboxes and making sure your emails are delivered to its destination. The only limitations is your email storage plan, which you can create as many inboxes and domains to your hearts content. The team is small, but the quality of service is out of this world.

Jarland has some pretty solid internal monitoring on his infrastructure stack and if anything breaks, whether he's asleep or awake, he'll be chipping away at solving the issue in a moments notice, even when some parts are not in his directly control, until the issue is resolved in its entirety. He cares greatly for any incidents that affects customers and provides more than necessary compensation and all the sincere apologies he can give for any mistakes.

As long as you are following the terms of service, MXroute will be there to protect and serve you as a customer.

Been a customer for about 10 months…

Been a customer for about 10 months now. We moved our companies email off a major VPS provider and it has been crazy how much better it has been. Instant email delivery where our previous provider might be within 5 mins.

Instructions are generally easy to follow and if you need more help the owner and employees are very helpful in the discord day and night. The owner is one of those people that are very knowledgeable about their field of expertise. In this case it is email delivery. Most other places will leave email on the back burner. I don't recall how many times with my previous provider I would get bounce back emails because somebody on a neighboring IP had sent out a ton of spam. I have not had a single bounceback due to somebody else spamming since I have been on the service.

Caveat. I would not recommend this service if you plan to send unsolicited marketing emails. Upside to the owner being heavily active is you get either a yes or no to support questions rather than support safe answers. Downside is that if you do break the rules there is little to no ability to appeal as there is no higher authority. And he has no interest in being a platform for spam.
