Avoid Motorpoint at all costs. I bought a car from them in December, spending over £20,000.
Within a few months the car developed an engine rattle when started. It has been to two separate garages, neither of which can diagnose the issue. The car has just had a service and the MOT came back with an advisory for a wheel bearing, something that should not be happening on a car I’ve owned for barely six months.
I purchased the two‑year extended warranty, sold to me as “peace of mind” for any future faults. In reality, it’s not worth the paper it’s written on.
You can’t get through to the warranty company the phone line is constantly busy and disconnects.
The warranty won’t cover the wheel bearing because it “hasn’t failed yet,” and now that I’m aware of the issue, they say it won’t be covered even if it does fail.
Motorpoint themselves refuse to help because I “can’t prove” the fault existed at the point of sale yet they can’t prove it didn’t, but because they’ve already taken my money, they’ve washed their hands of it.
As for the engine rattle, I’ve been told I must authorise and pay for the investigation myself, and only if the fault fits within their vague, never‑properly‑explained policy will they consider covering it. So I’m expected to gamble more money on a car that’s already proving to be a financial risk.
I asked for a refund for the warranty because it’s clearly useless, and again I was told I “can’t prove it was mis‑sold.” they also can’t prove I was ever told the misleading information that convinced me to buy it.
Motorpoint’s after‑sales support is non‑existent. Once they have your money, you’re on your own. I’m six months into ownership and facing faults, costs, and stress I paid specifically to avoid.
Stay away from Motorpoint. Their warranties are worthless, their customer care disappears the moment the sale is complete, and their refusal to take responsibility is shocking.

I went to sell my car as i was getting a company car. The manager that dealt with us was very rude and tried to knock off 700 pound for an issue that would have cost 120 at most to repair saying he was a mechanic... (not likely) they also wanted invoices for services making us feel he was questioning my service history. Also the customer service was bad. We waiting 30 mins before someone came to see us. While we waited for 30 min the staff were just chatting amongst themselves. Horrible experience we walked away and wont be back ever. I sold it to another well known company the day after with no issues, and for the price i wanted. Motorpoint Burnley

Motorpoint offered a really competitive price on my part exchange vehicle and dealt with the transaction quickly and professionally. Great service.

A sympathetic and understanding salesman - Naz - who helped when we were having difficulty accessing our money.
Also the gear stick and housing came off the main gear lever. I took the car back and it was repaired there and then without fuss. Thank you.

Two people made our experience a memorable one they are Rash who was the salesperson knowledgeable, not at all pushy & last but not least Courtney who completed all our paperwork & was extremely efficient & nothing was too much trouble for her

All ok and fairly smooth, until the last hurdle … receiving my money which wasn’t so good. Sold my car Wednesday. Was told I’d get my money by the following morning, nothing. Was told I’d receive an email to confirm my account details but again received nothing. Had to chase the following day (Friday), no call back. Then tried again Saturday & told the manager would ring me, but he didn’t. Then when I had to chase again Saturday evening was told that i wouldn’t get my money until Monday.
However, for the sales part of buying a car, Joe in sales was great, quite chilled and not too pushy & nice to deal with.

I've previously bought cars from motorpoint and no complaints. Turned up for a semi casual browse last week and gave up after problems/ ballache accessing the new QR coded buyer info.
Thought I was being a grumpy old man but later learned my tech savvy son had the same experience a few days earlier and gave it up as a bad job. Neither of us inclined to bother going again if it stays that way but won't rule out shortlisting on line at home then maybe visit.

Generally a good experience. The handover assistant was excellent and knowledgeable in the banking process. The car was as expected. Two points of note are:-
Nobody could help set up the Incontrol system on the car and LR App. Which was a pain.
Also I ordered a dash cam package. I expected it to have been fitted but was just given a box and told a company would contact me a it would be fitted at my home address. From there on it has been a disaster and still does not work. A poor supplier has let Motorpoints reputation down.

I wanted to sell a pristine car to MP in Burnley, they tried to drop £3000.00 from the price offered stating the car had been hit and 'badly repainted' - LIE. The had not been hit, there was some scratches on the paintwork which I had 'professionally' repainted. At first 'Matthew' said it needs to go on the ramp and the team need to check for any damage or dents underneath (BS) - I told them there will be no dent or damage underneath as its not been hit - it will take about 40 minutes - ok i will wait - they checked it - come back saying it will be £3000 - further LYING by saying the light has been hit and it will be a whole new bumper, wing etc - BS!! I had the pic when the car was scratched and the pics after. I will never recommend such thieving people. Staff were not friendly. PS my car was the best than any of the cars you had on the forecourt and I'm not just saying that. You should have just said you're not buying the car. Not come up with 'badly painted job'
