Very friendly staff member

Myself and my partner planned a trip from Liverpool to new Brighton. Our plan was to get the train to moorfields and the ferry from Liverpool to seacome. Unfortunately our trip wasn’t possible due to the lift at moorfields being too small to fit in my partners mobility scooter in. We was accompanied by a very welcoming, kind and friendly young gentleman called Tony. He went above and beyond for us to find a destination that would be suitable for my partners mobility scooter. No lifts within the city centre was suitable though. We decided to choose a different destination (Southport) as this was a ground level station. If it wasn’t for tony and his friendly attitude, we could have easily returned back home and felt like it was a bad experience. Thanks for cheering us up Tony and making us feel relaxed about the situation. Merseyrail needs more Tony’s haha

Awful experience at James St.

Absolutely shocking treatment by the staff at James St.
I was forced to buy a new ticket with minutes to spare before my last available train - even though my ticket was a valid anytime day return, and I was on my return journey - with the Valid ticket, receipts, and e-ticket.
Fortunately the Trainline have already agreed to refund my unused return - but I won’t be passing through James St again anytime soon. Maybe the staff have little better to do with their unpleasant working lives than try to make a simple train journey unpleasant for no obvious reason?

Explanation like I would have a criminal record when this is not the case.

I've been up to Liverpool so often and thought everyone super friendly and loved attending Eurovision there.

Last month was the FIRST time I have ever been on Mersey Rail (CCTV would have had me asking the ticket turnstile person how to get a ticket and how to get to the platform required etc. I took a train from Liverpool to Southport and behaved how I would have on London trains and never received a fine.

WORSE the train staff treated it like I would have a criminal charge and record. Seripously, these guys really need to review how thaye explain the charges and fines. Otherwise, I would say that these staff are using fear tactics. Criminal record for something not EVER picked up by London trains.

Definitely, don't behave anything other than in your seat and not eat or such in case you get fined and treated like you will have a criminal record when you won't. Definitely, a power trip and money making scheme here!

Shambolic service

Shambolic service. I have an annual pass in an attempt to lower my carbon footprint on my daily commute and I am routinely late for work. There seems to be next to no form of complaints procedure, or any accountability for the poor running of this service.

It’s outrageously expensive to be this late for work this regularly due to broken down trains, trains running late, trains running early or inexplicable and unpredictable changes to the schedule.

Disgraceful Money Grubbers

Disgraceful. Money grubbing service. They must have someone on the cameras literally waiting for the moment someone’s foot barely grazes a seat before someone pops up acting like police taking details and making a spectacle of paying customers on there way to work. Should be utterly ashamed of yourselves. And don’t say it’s to prevent damage because we all know 0 money goes into making these trains pleasant to be in. Everything is aged as hell and falling apart. Just watched a nurse get trotted off by one of your staff this morning, they were sitting directly across from me and I didn’t spot any shoes on seats or any kind of inappropriate behaviour. This was on the 07:57 train to Chester, not that I have any faith in Merseyrail to make things right with this customer when you could get a fine out of him as well as the extortionate rail fair he pays every day to get to work.

By laws to intimidate honest people

The train company that invokes bylaws with no warning. told me i had broke a bylaw that i didn't even know existed. an employee dressed like he was doing a drug bust confronted me flashed a card at me that i didn't have time to read and started reading me my rights. a couple next to me asked him if it was a joke!!.He then proceeded like a frightened schoolboy that I had one of my feet on the seat opposite which subconsciously i may have. we were going to watch the open and there were bags all over the carriage. on the way back we checked for the signage and there wasn't any from the ticket office at Chester right up to the platform NONE!! MR please prove me wrong There was one on the train but nowhere near the doors where we got on the carriage. I have paid the fine which all of us could do without in todays economic crisis but had no choice. A simple can you put your foot down please would have been appropriate i am not some yob, drunk teenager. WILL NEVER USE MERSEY RAIL AGAIN THEY ARE JUST A MONEY RACKATEERING OUTFIT FLEECING HONEST PEOPLE WHO ARE TRYING TO DO THE RIGHT THING. I hope this feedback puts £60 worth of people booking tickets with them off they may then get their business thinking in the 21st century!!!!!!!!

The customer service excellent from Walton…

The customer service from Walton Station and Tom at Central was second to none.. both offered to carry my suitcases and could not have been more helpful.
10 out of 10 in my books for Merseyrail if young Tom and the chaps at Walton Station are typical of the staff employed by Merseyrail.

Made me late for The most important meeting of my life.

The train came 3 minutes early. I was here 10 minute earlier waiting for the ticket guy to come out of the toilet which made me miss my train. This missed appointment has cost me over 25 thousand pounds. What a f#,cking joke of a company!

The most unreliable train service

The most unreliable train service. Cancelled trains more often than they are running. Often with no notice and explanation!!
Got told the other day on my way home from working in the city centre ‘ trains to kirkby suspended make your own way home’ this is fantastic after paying for a return ticket. What about elderly or younger vulnerable customers?
Oh and this was also on Ladies day at the races one of the busiest days for the city
Absolute joke company and these new trains have made it even worse !

Useless and rude staff at Kirkby Train Station! 😡

Absolutely disappointing service at Kirkby Train Station. The staff are useless, rude and liars at this Train Station telling customers a bunch of lies and clearly don't know their facts and information properly either. 😡

On the 5th of April 2023, my friend and myself arrived at Kirkby Train Station (Merseyside) returning back from Liverpool Central yesterday on the 5th of April 2023 and trying to catch the bus link 319 back to Skelmersdale. Understandably we had plenty time to catch the 319 Skelmersdale bus service because the bus didn't arrived at Kirkby Train Station at 21:08 and we arrived at the Kirkby Train Station at 20:30 so we had 38 minutes wait no problem.

While we waited at Kirkby Train Station waiting for the bus service travelling back to Skelmersdale myself and my mate, we had no idea where the bus would stop because there were three stands A, B and C at Whitefield Drive which is located at Kirkby Train Station (Merseyside) I went to the ticket office to ask for some advice at Kirkby Train Station there was a man who was in his 60's with glasses and gray hair had attitude towards me saying the bus stops outside the train station understandably Stand A at Whitefield Drive which is on the train station premises.

When the time got up to 21:08, myself and my friend saw the 319 Skelmersdale bus service and we was both thinking it would park outside the train station on Stand A and anyway the bus didn't even go into the train station as it parked on Whitefield Drive Stand C nowhere nearer Kirkby Train Station. We were both absolutely fuming and shocked because the train officer basically lied and told us both the bus service would stop right outside the train station. The train officer is useless, rude, pathetic, hopeless and liar. He shouldn't be working on ticket office if he is gonna be rude and give flase information to customers. Usually the staff are kind and friendly at this train station, but the gentleman wasn't kind and friendly at all. He was rude, ignorant and had a snotty attitude.

Be careful using Meresyrail at certain times too because when there is nobody at the train office, they usually put notice sign up saying pay for your ticket at destination you are travelling too. Say for a example, if you are travelling from Kirkby to Liverpool Central, the notice says you can pay for your ticket at Liverpool Central if there are no staff at the train station you are travelling from. I would take picture and show the staff the evidence of the notice sign because the staff can't argue with you if you show them evidence. Some customers have complained that they've been fined at Liverpool Central and Moorfields for not having a ticket no fault to their fault as there was nobody at Kirkby Train Station. Luckily it hasn't happened to me getting fine because I always make sure I get a ticket at the the train station before I board a train. I'd be fuming and angry if the Meresyrail tried charging me a fine if I done nothing wrong. 😡

Best experience in travelling with merseyrail

I was travelling with my husband from Stoke-on-Trent to New Brighton on March 13th. On the way back from New Brighton to Liverpool used Merseyrail service. Unfortunately I forgot my bag in the train and I realised that after getting down the train and immediately informed to the guard available on the platform. He called immediately and tried hard to find my bag and security at the entrance of the gate also was involved in contacting New Brighton railway station. And I didn't expect to find my bag back but fortunately I found it with my wallet inside and nothing was missed. Our special thanks to Lee and Steve who were working that day. They both helped us in finding the bag with so much effort and dedication. It's our privilege to meet such good people during our journey.

Disgraceful behaviour from on duty…

Disgraceful behaviour from on duty staff. Being fined £60 for having the tip of my toe on the plastic next to the seat.made me feel uncomfortable now if I don’t pay could be charged and have a criminal record. Me and my family will no longer use Mersey rail and have now have lost out on a lot of custom, these people need to be sorted out they act like wannabe coppers. No signs on the train cabin wasn’t warned not to and no audio announcements asking not do do any of there rules. I’d advise using the bus service to Liverpool or finding alternative travel into Liverpool as this service is a disgrace to Liverpool.

Well done to Ian at Maghull…

I would like to thank Ian at Maghull station on 26 2 23.
I find it very difficult to plan journeys now without a paper timetable (please consider reintroduction). However, Ian helped me to work out the various choices for getting to and from Liverpool to see a show. He even printed out a sheet for me. Great customer service. Well done.
